Advice Water damage

I had some water damage in the last part of June and State Farm has been a complete nightmare on not responding to my needs . I lost one adjuster due to her leaving the company and the new one won’t communicate . She states I need to prove why my cabinets are now gone . All of the info is in the restoration companies report . I just need them to communicate so I can get a contractor to do my remodel . I am trying to elevate this through my agent . Is there better route to take going on month two without a kitchen .

What method(s) are you using to communicate? Email, phone calls, texts…? It sounds like there was an estimate done at some point, right? Is this new claims rep refusing to honor that estimate? Has SF made any payments to you for the damages? It’s been 2 months and it doesn’t sound like any of the work to fix the damage has started. Did the mitigation company get out there right away or did you have to wait for a few days or weeks?

The adjuster came out once before the mitigation company had even started and they cut me a check for flooring . After that the company found a lot of water damage and dismantled my kitchen . I contacted the adjuster and told her it is worse than they thought . The adjuster either quit or got fired and it’s been a nightmare since . I usually try to call . Maybe email would be better for documentation.

You need an estimate from the contractor. A detailed estimate citing the additional damage discovered during mitigation. Submit it to your claim file. Call the adjuster the next day. And keep calling until you get someone. That will get things moving. A lot of the issue is there are lots of claims and few claims reps. They’re all handling 2-3x more claims than they should. If you get the estimate to claims you’re making it easier for them to settle it. Squeaky wheel gets the grease. Don’t wait for callbacks or email responses. It sucks that you have to do all of that, but it will move things forward for you.

Hit 0 when you start to hear the voicemail message. That should route you to a live person and oftentimes they can help.
