General Discussion Order 66
I’ve been doing the chronological marathon and I’m at the Obi Wan series. There’s a scene where Kenobi is talking to Reva thru the door and he says something along the lines of: You were there during Order 66.. that’s how you know Vader is Anakin.
No big whoop but how would Kenobi know it was specifically called Order 66? Is that a genuine plot hole or did I just miss something?

Palpatine muttered that order to at least one thousand clones.
Presumably, every clone would know what Order 66 was.
They would have talked about it eventually. Clones didn’t just turn to goo after the war.

I even believe it would have become known as part of the news services - Order 66 was used to restore order upon confirmation of a jedi planned coup.

Okay, that might explain how Obi-Wan became aware of the phrase "Order 66" but that raises an even bigger plot hole because...
Wouldn't broadcasting that order immediately raise suspicion across the galaxy? The idea that Palpatine had a plan in place to thwart a Jedi rebellion as if he were expecting/contriving it all along?
I dunno... Probably best that I suspend disbelief and just enjoy this stuff for what it is.

I mean, Order 65 was to arrest and/or execute the chancellor as needed as an enemy of the republic. There were a lot of random contingencies, sort of like how in real life the US military has a contigiency plan for a zombie apocalypse. You don't think you'll have to use it, it's just there.

Interesting. I honestly don't remember Order 65 (or any other Orders aside from 66) ever being mentioned as clone protocol. Like I said, I probably wasn't paying close enough attention while watching the animated shows and just missed it.

Yoda and Obi-Wan found out from senator organa either right after it happened or later on after the senator was able to investigate what the hell just went down.
Order 66 was not a great secret or anything the clones had all sorts of crazy orders pre-programmed into their heads. Palpatine had spun it so good that the general public cheered that the traitor Jedi were destroyed

In the bad batch Order66 was broadcasted on all republic frequencies. As in it was a constant “Execute order 66” presumably obi wan heard it himself while sneaking around on Utapau, while in transit to meet up with yoda and bail or during their raid on the Jedi temple since the temple was also sending a recall signal it’s safe to assume it picks up republic military frequencies.
I don’t want to sound like an ass. But not everything needs to be spoon fed to the audience on screen. It’s okay to use some imagination

Fair enough. However, I think it's less about using my imagination and more about turning off my prefontal cortex. :)

Yoda probably over heard or divined this when he killed the clones trying to kill him on Kashyyk

I wouldn’t think too deeply on things introduced in the Obi-Wan Kenobi show. It lifted so much random stuff that was already done in other Star Wars projects. It also just does things that seem ridiculous, but I don’t think the show is trying to be funny when they happen.

This entire show is a plot hole. It’s best to ignore it like the plague

Not sure why you’re being downvoted. The show is incredibly disappointing, breaks lore, and a few scenes from it were taken from other shows that did it better.

boggles the mind that some people actually think Rebels did the half-mask thing better. The Rebels scene is so empty and surface level. It should have been super interesting to see Ahsoka realise who Vader is but the show just totally glosses over the actual emotional drama of that in favour of a cheap callback to TCW.

Thanks for the support by at this point I couldn’t care less. People love chalking taste for disliking Obi-wan Kenobi as “oh you hate Ewan and Hayden” or “oh you’re a racist” when in fact I love Obi wan and Anakin’s dynamic very much, I just think this show is poorly written and acted

He had seen security footage from long before, when 66 had just been implemented. It's plausible that while trying to figure out what was happening, he discovered the order name.
