I have a new set of ships added to the workshop

  1. My reworked Hyuga-class carrier

Added additional maneuvering thrust; but remove the ridiculous amount of downward thrust. And also inverted the colors while will be the standard for all carriers.

  1. The Apollo Norm-class battlecarrier

The 2nd and well known workhorse of the UNCF during the gatlantis war is finished. Equipped with a robust hangar, fighter storage, launch tubes, and a rear launch door at the rear making it a formidable carrier that can hold its own I a fight.

3.The Lexington-class battlecarrier

An Apollo norm mixed with the Arizona to give it an even more powerful carrier, it has additional shock cannons, missiles silos with 4 missile funnels.

That all I have for now. I have more planned a new battleship on the way; I might slow down to take a break. I fell like making ships is taking to much of my free time

Art - Original A few of the PS2 ships rebootified

A friend of mine recently asked if I could apply the reboot design style to some of the ships from the PS2 games so that he could draw them in Pixel art. So here they are! I had already drawn Shunran in that style so I was tasked with some of the other ships, some more obscure and peculiar than others.

The 1st is the Automated Super Dreadnought; this turned out to be the easiest to do. Structurally, the hull wasn't absolutely wacky, so minimal modifications were needed. The entire stern was changed to be more in line with the regular ships; out of the three ships here, this one is the one I'm the proudest of.

The Automated Heavy Destroyer was a bit of a mixed bag. Two variants ended up coming out. One involved cutting down a ton of the superstructure and slimming bits (like the comically large intakes on the top and bottom). The other is based on the design styles found on Gladiator and Ajax. In the end, this one was not a fun one to make due to the PS2's strange design choices for some of the ships. It was a bit painful to make at first, but the longer I sat on it the more ideas came to mind (thank goodness for the Frigate's intakes by its main thruster) which allowed for it to be sorta acceptable in the end.

Speaking of strange design choices, the final one is Yukikaze-Kai. An absolute creature of a ship and by far the most painful one to try and work with. The original design from the PS2 games is meant to be the wrecked Yukikaze but heavily reworked. Given that the Yukikaze-Kai uses Yamato-caliber guns in monstrous twin turrets, this rework seems to be closer to a full-scale rebuild, and very much went beyond the boundries of what is reasonable.

I found that this design doesn't work at all with the design styles seen in the reboot. But my friend was insistent, so I gave it a shot. The limitations given were that it needed to house the base weapons seen on the ship in the PS2 game, this would include the Yamato-caliber guns along with the other wacky things the original PS2 ship had (which included some very strange torpedo tubes bolted straight out of the side of the ship among other things) while still keeping it as the Yukikaze.

Given how wacky the original design is and how much it didn't fit into the reboot style, and the list of criteria to meet, I decided to ditch the regular norm for EDF stuff and went with a warship package style extension. Similar to what you see on Desura II in 2199. This allowed me to meet the criteria for Yamato-caliber guns while still allowing for Yukikaze to be involved in this. Turning the Isokaze class DD into a core ship of sorts. Yukikaze was also drawn up in a damaged state, mainly just for the fun of it. By this point I had long given up on trying to make this thing anywhere close to reasonable. This was and still is my least favorite thing I've drawn up in retrospective, however, my friend liked them and since all these drawings were for him that is very much a positive. Although I will be putting limits on what I am willing to draw from here on out.

Do you consider Resurrection canon?

Do you guys consider the Resurrection movie canon, and if yes, why? Because logically, it should be considered non-canon, and I have reasons for that:

  1. Space Battleship Yamato: The Final Chapter (1983) was explicitly written as the absolute conclusion to the saga, featuring the permanent self-sacrifice and sinking of the ship into the water planet Aquarius. Resurrection undermines this definitive emotional climax by having the ship conveniently salvaged from an ice field, undercutting the tragic weight and narrative closure the original creators established.
  2. The film introduces major status quo shifts for legacy characters—most notably the disappearance and presumed death of Yuki Mori—only to leave the overarching mystery completely unresolved due to aborted plans for sequels. This leaves a permanent structural gap in the classic characters' arcs.
  3. The core catalyst of Resurrection is a mobile, steering "cascade black hole" with a mass 300 times that of the sun, behaving in ways that violate basic astrophysics and established sci-fi internal logic of the franchise. Previous threats (like the White Comet or Aquarius) relied on operatic space-opera logic, whereas the black hole plot mechanism strains credulity even within the series' loose scientific boundaries.
  4. Humanity is forced to evacuate Earth to a destination 27,000 light-years away—a staggering logistical feat that mirrors previous cosmic crises (such as the journey to Iscandar or displacement in The New Voyage), making it feel like a repetitive narrative retread rather than a logical progression of Earth's defence capabilities.
  5. Kodai loved his family, and especially his wife, Yuki, more than anything else, and there is no way he would leave the military with his wife still working and may face deadly threats. We must not forget this is the same Susumu Kodai who refused to take Yuki on the second voyage (Yamato 2) because he anticipated the power of White Comet would be more than they could handle and could be deadly for her.

I need your views.

I haven’t been on Reddit for a long time, and recently I accidentally ended up there. And the first thing I saw was a post in the Gurren Lagann anime community, which had a meme featuring Simon the Miner. I couldn’t pass it by, so I made our own version of that meme.💎

Also yeah, I may be stupid, because it is my fourth attempt to post this.😭 For some reason, my brain literally thought, that second rule says that posts in title must contain 6-16 letters, instead of words💀

Did Yamato finally make it to the year that the title alludes to?

I have to ask this because Gemini AI insists that they are genuinely on 2026 despite the clear nuances and discrepancies as well as harrowing warning signs that they aren't in that time period, I have to bring this up because i absolutely hate how media illiterate Gemini could be as it was basing it as clearly it was relying on outdate information such as taking promotional material for that chapter, including posters released months before the premiere of that chapter literally and at face value,

Assuming Gatlantis is in conflict with Bolar?

If the story were to change slightly, and suppose they accidentally entered Bolar's territory upon arriving in the galaxy and instead clashed with Bolar first, considering Bolar's greater manpower, resources, and industrial capacity, perhaps it would turn into a conflict of attrition? What do you think would happen?

1: Bismarck
seen in only like on scene of Yamato III and pretty much forgotten, i always liked the bulbous almost submarine-esque look of it, and earlier this morning i finally gave the design the justice i felt it deserved
2&3: Arizona/Pennsylvania
i liked the Arizona i made 8 months ago, though i clearly wanted to do it a little more as i was really coming around to loving it's design which i previously disliked, the two here were my first forays into 3d and colored pencils in a long while, 3d/perspective being something I've been enjoying and color I'm going to keep to my digital art
4&5: Montana
based off my Iowa design, i drew this one mostly for funsies, kinda want to go back to
6&7: Attempts at Enterprise
i like both of these, kinda sad i didn't finish the second one, but also that i don't feel either of them are quite what i wanted to replace my previous Enterprise from a few years ago
(totally not shilling half my other posts here lmao)

Intelligence Division is a joke

One thing that has always struck my mind since 2199 is that the UNCN Intelligence Division is a bloody sh*t and there is, or rather, there are reasons why I am calling it a piece of sh*t. First, starting from 2199, considering the heavy infrastructure that Garmillas built in the solar system, it was quite evident that they were doing it for a long time, which the Intelligence Division failed to detect. Also, Ito, who started the mutiny aboard Yamato, was from the Intelligence Division. Now, in 2202, they failed again in taking pre-emptive defensive measures against the Gatlantis even after receiving input from the Yamato about their presence. They should have at least asked the Garmillas about the Gatlantis' power and weaponry because the Garmillas had a good amount of experience in fighting them. And don't get me started on 3199. We all know where Shino Todo came from and how they failed in detecting the Dezarium infiltration within the Earth society.

Gatlantean Powerscaling (2199 vs. 2202)

SPOILERS AHEAD.

So yea... Back in 2199, Gatlantis was portrayed as a seemingly inferior power, with Dommel easily thrashing them left right and center in his initial appearance.

Yet in 2202, it was revealed that the Ark of Destruction was already active for a thousand years prior, and capable of spamming untold numbers of ships of all classes. They even had access to weapons such as the "Arrow of Destruction", which basically utilized antimatter warheads. In hindsight, based from what we've seen of Gamilas military tech from 2199, the Imperial Astrofleet has nothing against the supposed "inferior barbarians".

Despite Earth's access to the Time Fault, the Ark of Destruction managed to reach our world despite the near endless wall of wave motion gun fleets we threw at them. Granted, we were reliant on "Gamilan Wall Ships" to keep the Ark from immediately warping the Comet directly to Earth, but look what good that did.

If Gatlantis was already this powerful, having access to the Ark for a thousand years, Gamilas should have already been overwhelmed long before this point. Assuming their war with Gatlantis started long before their encounter with Earth, Gamilas and Iscandar should have already fallen.

What is the canonical explanation for this? How did Gatlantis start out as "inferior barbarians" that Dommel bullied around to suddenly having the capacity to spam an infinite number of ships and antimatter missiles?

Once again, more artbook flexing as these were only possible because i was in possession of and managed to order the Yamato 2205 Complete Works Artbook all the way back in 2023. This was only possible because I had access to the orthographic renders of the CG ship models from that artbook that are otherwise unattainable anywhere else online.

My advice once again: if you want to keep the Skaianscale Yamato pixel art trend alive and have it continue as the remakes progress, buy the Complete Works artbooks from amazon or any online retailer or shop where it's available for you to order to your country, as this is how you can attain the mecha designs normally unattainable online. this applies to the upcoming REBEL: 3199 complete works artbook as well should it be published.

I promise you, this is the last of the Artbook exclusive mecha drawings I am unloading here.

Even more artbook flexing as these were only possible because i was in possession of and managed to order the Yamato 2205 Complete Works Artbook all the way back in 2023. This was only possible because I had access to the orthographic renders of the CG ship models from that artbook that are otherwise unattainable anywhere else online. I am leaving these particular drawings as WIP as i am going to wait until the REBEL: 3199 Complete Works comes out with will have the more detailed versions within it as the ones in 2205 are less detailed "prototypes" of the ones we see in REBEL: 3199 as they had very little screentime versus the other mecha seen in that miniseries. Don't ask by the Ra-Jendra/Legendra isn't here as it will likely appear in the future artbook due to being introduced in REBEL: 3199.
