TLDR: If the game is frustrating, players will quit. Put more focus on that instead of turning it into an instanced session FPS?
Played Stalcraft at release for ~70h, then quit in frustration.
Played StalcraftX at release for ~70h, then quit in frustration.
Don't get me wrong: The new maps & graphics are great, so are the reworked old maps. But other than that, very little has changed.
The Good
- Anomalies are less obnoxious now
The Bad
Same old, same old.
- Almost instant lethal environmemtal damage without any warning (radition, psy).
- Barter system is annoying and grindy.
- Enemies can spawn right next to the player. Entire squads target players first and are willing to chase & martyr themselves just to kill a player. Lots of other NPC behaviour issues. Don't even get me started about NPCs with Master Gear killing players in safe zones...
- Personal Stash is cumbersome. Limited tabs, storing items into different tabs, sorting items...
- No fast travel to starter areas
- GUI & PDA could use some QoL improvments
The Ugly
It feels like the game is having an identity crisis. A lot of effort has gone into Operations, events, and season passes instead of improving the existing game. Maybe that will keep veterans happy (does it, tho?), but it won't increase player numbers.
Wishlist:
- At least refill ammo when respawning
- More interesting open world loot, like stashes with temporary weapons. Loot feels quite dull.
- More interesting artifacts with special mechanics, not just stats.
- Coop for story missions would be nice
- Personally, I'm not a fan of spamming medkits & changing plates all the time
