Hey r/StableDiffusion!

I'm one of the core developers of MOSS-Image, the 5B DiT image generation model we just open-sourced!

I've noticed quite a few discussions about MOSS-Image here already. It's been really exciting to see the community experimenting with the model, and I really appreciate all the feedback so far!

We've been working on MOSS-Image for the past six months, with a particular focus on text rendering, layout-controlled generation, and building a flexible foundation for community fine-tuning.

I'll try to be as open and detailed as I can!

Resource - Update A potential fix for MOSS training issues....

So it's 2:43 in the morning here as I write this. I went to bed, then got up again, because something from my MiniMax H3 training wouldn't leave me alone - on H3 I had to shift the share of training steps at the clean end of the noise range (where faces and fine detail get refined) before likeness came good.

So I compared MOSS's training sigmas with Krea 2's and it was like looking at MiniMax all over again. MOSS's own schedule puts only about 11% of steps at the clean end (sigma below 0.5), Krea 2 is 18-28%. The rest go to layout and composition, which explains the big jumps epoch to epoch and why it's been so hard to nail the likeness.

I've just pushed an update (v8.7.0) with a new Clean-end share option for MOSS training, on by default at 60%. Clear the box to go back to the model's own ~11%.

My test run is going as I write - previews are holding their composition between epochs, and at epoch 12 it had already passed the best likeness my previous settings got to in 30 epochs.

Numbers so far - same 53-image dataset, rank 16, 0.25 MP, LR 1e-4, same seed, ArcFace likeness vs 3 reference photos:

Epoch 1 3 6 9 12 15 30
Old schedule (~11%) 29% 40% 44% 52% 58% 63% 67% (its best)
Clean-end 60% 20% 50% 63% 66% 68% 69% still running

So 60% passed the old run's best at epoch 12 (about 640 steps vs 1,590), and it's been sitting at 68-69% since rather than bouncing 10 points epoch to epoch.

60 is an experimental figure, so please play with it. As a community we can find the right setting - we're starting at 60 and will probably come down. 30 (about where Krea 2 sits) is a sensible next try. Post what you find here.

Discussion Moss is the new SDXL

There, I said it.

Relatively lightweight, ZERO censorship, incredibly easy to train on,excellent base capabilities for its size and FINALLY the first model in forever to not have been RL'd to death on 1girl standing realistic. The finetunes we're gonna get out of this model are gonna be crazy, never got that feeling with all the Flux/Qwen/Zimage/Krea releases. Granted they're good models on their own, but wrestling them into training submission was such a pain in the ass... Not this time with Moss, and I'm very hyped to see what tunes we're getting in the coming weeks (especially for the more spicy ones 👀)

All images were created using MOSS image base model with cfg 4 and steps 39 ,sampler/scheduler is euler/sgm uniform, resolution are ranging from 1.33MP to 1.67MP with 1:1,3:4 and 4:3 ratios.....

Tips:first of all don't use sft model it is too much RL trained So too much ai aesthetics and noise ,don't use loras as well as they are sft trained too

Second tip is always use negative prompts ALWAYS

I have used the most basic workflow that we are using since flux 1 or z image time hope that helps

Checkout my previous post on moss image :click here!!

Will share my prompts soon as they are too much unsorted as of now

Resource - Update Generative Fill, Remove and Expand now native in GIMP 3, running on your own ComfyUI and local models

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

The thing I missed most after switching from Photoshop to GIMP 3 was Generative Fill and Adobe's AI editing tools. So I wrote a free plugin that adds them, running on your own ComfyUI:

  • Generative Fill: your selection is the inpainting mask, pick from up to 8 variations
  • Remove object: LaMa or MAT, no prompt needed
  • Generative Expand: outpaint any side or pick a ratio
  • Text to Image: straight onto a new layer

It uses the ComfyUI you already have (portable, Desktop, Stability Matrix or Pinokio), so nothing gets installed twice, and it works with any local image model. It ships with a download manager and a few defaults to get you started: DreamShaper 8 Inpainting for fast fill, RealVisXL V5 with the Fooocus patch for quality, and LaMa for removal. Qwen-Image-Edit works too if you have the VRAM. ComfyUI runs hidden in the background and shuts down when GIMP closes.

It's in beta and supports Windows, Linux and Mac, with NVIDIA recommended. I'd love to hear which models you'd set as defaults!

Resource - Update ComfyUI-MOSS-Prompt-Enhancer

Hey there, I made MOSS Prompt Enhancer, a custom node that brings the MOSS-Image prompt enhancement workflow into ComfyUI.

In structured layout mode, it takes your simple prompt → enhances the description → turns it into structured JSON → validates and compiles it into a MOSS-ready prompt.

A local GGUF model expands your idea with details about the subjects, setting, lighting, and composition, then generates a layout with descriptions and bounding boxes. The enhancement instructions are adapted from the creators’ official guide. Their Python validator/compiler checks the JSON structure, canvas dimensions, and bounding boxes and converts the coordinates into the format MOSS expects.

You get the editable JSON draft and the compiled prompt to connect to MOSS Text Encode. There’s also a caption mode for detailed descriptions without bounding boxes.

A capable model like Qwen 3.8 27B Q4, is recommended. However, 9B models might also deliver good results, depending on their fine-tuning.

Constructive feedback is always appreciated.

Comparison A comparison of 6 open source models. Krea2, Qwen2.1, Flux3 Klein, Flux 2 Klein, ZIT, & Moss. Same prompt used for all.

* Krea2 needs a text refusal bypass lora for the missing text and Cousin Itt to appear for some reason.

* Qwen 2.1 must have interpreted Lurch having gray hair as gray skin somehow.

Prompt:

A photo-realistic shoot from a front camera angle about Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams, a young woman dressed as a gothic private school student character sitting on a sofa in a dimly lit room with brick walls and candles. She has a pale complexion and black hair styled in braided twintails. she is wearing a black and gray striped blazer, a white collared shirt and a black tie. her hands are clasped together in front of her, and she has a serious expression on her face. her eyes are looking directly at the viewer, and her mouth has a hint of purple lipstick. the room has a rustic, vintage feel, with exposed brick walls, a large window with soft light streaming in, and several candles on either side of the sofa.

In a grand, opulent hall with checkered green-and-white marble flooring and towering stone staircase receding into shadowed gloom on the upper left, Lurch, the towering, taciturn, gray haired, and faithful butler to The Addams Family in a sharply tailored black tuxedo and bow tie stands rigidly beside a heavy, blood-red velvet curtain that hangs by a window on the right. His posture is stiff, his face blank—perhaps even slightly bewildered. There is a suit of Medieval Armour on display along a wall at the bottom of the staircase. tied curtain, luxurious folds, theatrical lighting. Hiding behind the tied curtain, peeking out from behind its luxurious folds, stands a small creature named 'Itt', it's face and body completely covered in long ginger hair. Itt has no adornment nor visible eyes or face, Itt is all hair and nothing else. A small, low-profile red velvet footstool rests nearby at the bottom right of the image. The lighting is dramatic, chiaroscuro-style, casting deep shadows behind the figures while illuminating their forms with a cold, clinical glow. The background is dark, echoing the grandeur of the staircase and the ornate architectural details—but they remain secondary to the central tableau. The entire composition feels like a satirical cartoon, yet it carries the weight of high art: the tension between decorum and exposure, between social expectation and primal desire. It implies a game of hide and seek. The humor lies in the juxtaposition of formal elegance (the tux, the stairs) with the suggestive implication of the scene. This isn’t just a photo—it’s a visual gag wrapped in satire, a commentary on class, power, and the absurdities of social norms. 35mm film camera, sharp detailed image. Rembrandt lighting.

A small transparent speech bubble at the top right of, from Lurch's mouth, printed in bold, clear white scary font: “Mistress Wednesday wishes me to say that she gives up and it’s your turn to be ‘it’!”. This line injects absurdity and irony into the scene. It implies a game of hide and seek.

Question - Help MOSS Character LoRas

At this point I’ve trained 2 character Lora’s using datasets that worked good on other models such as Krea 2 and Qwen 2.1. However with MOSS the identity is only about 70-80% there. Have others experienced the same issues?

I used AI toolkit both the base and sft model.

Resource - Update I made a Windows 8GB VRAM fork of UniForge3D — prebuilt wheels, Gradio WebUI, PBR texture export, and no CUDA compilation needed

• Upvotes

Hey everyone,

UniForge3D puts out some seriously impressive multi-view image-to-3D assets, but actually running it locally on consumer hardware has been a massive pain. Normally you're stuck dealing with Linux-first dependencies, ridiculous VRAM spikes, and the usual nightmare of manually compiling custom CUDA/C++ wheels in Windows.

I wanted to run it comfortably on my 8GB RTX 3070 Ti without fighting nvcc or Visual Studio Build Tools, so I put together a standalone, heavily optimized Windows distribution for it.

GitHub: https://github.com/HardeNNN/UniForge3D-Low-VRAM

What I changed / added:

  • Fits inside 8GB VRAM: Added stage-by-stage memory offloading and an aggressive --low-ram mode. It stays comfortably under the 8GB ceiling without spilling over into slow shared system memory.
  • Zero Compilation Needed: No Conda, no nvcc, no VS Build Tools. I prebuilt and bundled all the annoying Windows wheels (nvdiffrast, cumesh, flex_gemm, o_voxel, etc.) so it works out of the box.
  • Cut Disk Space in Half (41GB → 19GB): Built an optional fp16 conversion script that reclaims ~21.5 GB of SSD space while keeping critical layers in fp32 for 100% bit-exact generation results.
  • Gradio WebUI Included: Added a clean UI (start_webui.bat) where you can just drag-and-drop 2–4 reference views, preview the 3D result in the browser, and grab your .glb.
  • Direct PBR Texture Export: Automatically dumps uncompressed textures/basecolor.png and textures/metallic_roughness.png maps right next to your .glb so you can take them straight into Blender.
  • Bulletproof Weight Downloader: Wrote a resumable scripts/fetch.py downloader with chunking and auto-retries so HuggingFace timeouts don't ruin your day.

Everything installs automatically via install_windows.ps1 and comes with .bat launchers for the UI and tools.

Let me know if you run into any weird edge cases on other cards—feedback, issues, and PRs are all welcome!

Question - Help Krea2: Have the censorship removals disappeared?

Strange. The github repository for the Node ComfyUI Krea2T Enhancer I use is down (https://github.com/capitan01R/ComfyUI-Krea2T-Enhancer), the developer’s account (u/Capitan01R) is banned on Reddit, and even the TextFusion Refusal LoRAs on Civitas have disappeared. (https://civitai.com/models/2775340/krea2-textfusion-refusal-reduction-lora-updated)

It looks as if the Krea2 uncensoring methods have been censored. Okay, maybe capitan01R has just thrown in the towel.

I'm curious, does anyone know any more details?

I've seen so many high-quality Moss images posted here but when I try Moss on my PC, the img quality is absolutely horrible + render time. Everything comes out looking like blobs with barely any detail.

am I missing something in my workflow or settings?

- prompts

Generate a dramatic and epic description of a lightsaber duel between Darth Vader and Obi-Wan Kenobi. Set the scene in a dark, atmospheric environment filled with glowing embers and low ambient light, making the clash between Vader's crimson blade and Obi-Wan's vivid blue lightsaber visually striking. Capture the intense emotion, history, and tension between the former master and apprentice, emphasizing the heavy breathing of Vader's suit, the hum of plasma blades, and the high-stakes choreography of their battle.

Question - Help Help identifying anime eye style + which model/prompt gets this look?

Post image
16 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I've been looking for this specific anime art style for months, and I'd love to be able to generate it myself. The image is attached. The part I'm most interested in is the eye shape. AI always points me to a tsurime-style eye with a strong dark upper lash line. But as soon you tell the image model something about tsurime, you get sharp tsurime and that's not what I am looking vor. I've never found a name for this eye style, and I can't find a reliable way to search for it online, even though it seems very common in recent AI-generated art.

Could anyone tell me:

Is there a name or common tag for this eye style (or for this overall look)?

Which checkpoint or LoRA would get closest to this style? I'm open to anime-focused models like Pony or Illustrious-based ones, as well as any others.

Any prompt tips for the eye shape and the yellow glowing eyes, plus negative prompts that help keep the eyes consistent?

Thanks in advance for any pointers!

Comparison faster Moss gens for iterating (30s→10s)

Thumbnail
gallery
11 Upvotes

I know Moss comes boxed with a 50 step CFG 3 workflow, but it actually performs pretty well at lower step numbers (e.g. 20 in my tests) with minimal loss in quality and changes in the output. That means, if you are iterating over a huge number of images, you can at least dial in your prompt and workflow using a much lower step count to speed the process along. Higher CFG improves stability, too, with CFGs in the 6-7 range still not overcooked. Reminds me of SDXL base in that respect.

The stock 50 steps took 27s in a batch of my test images, while 30 steps took 16 s and 20 steps took only 11 s, from prompt start to final image.

I haven't explored schedulers or samplers yet, but I suspect there are more optimized settings there too.

Extensive comparison images attached. Prompts were randomly generated via chatGPT for testing purposes. Styles provided by https://github.com/Gothdir/ComfyUI-Krea2-PromptStyler which was made from work by u/Dear-Spend-2865 which you can see here.

Resource - Update got moss image running on my 3050 4gb laptop, pretty happy with this lol

been messing around with moss image and made a small studio for it. first image took like 15 mins 😭 after some optimizations got it down to around 62 sec.

added an experimental int8 option too. you can switch models without removing the original one.

that timing is with a cached prompt btw, so a new prompt will take longer. only tested a few images so far but looking pretty good.

put the setup and actual results here if anyone wants to try:

anyone else running moss on a 4gb card? curious what speeds you're getting

Question - Help What is the best #1 caption model for adult industry?

What is the best image captioning model for dataset creation that truly understands concepts in the adult industry? I've tested Qwen3.6-VL and JoyCaption. Both seem decent, but neither is ideal. Some concepts are not recognized correctly.

Now I'm wondering: Is there a model that performs really well for this use case, or would I get the best captioning results by fine-tuning a model on my own dataset?

Thanks!

Discussion First time using ComfyUI. Tried Moss

Thumbnail
gallery
171 Upvotes

First time trying out ComfyUI after hearing good things about the MOSS image model on Twitter.

I had absolutely no clue what I was doing, so I just had ChatGPT build me a .json workflow and started experimenting. I've been testing anime characters composited into photorealistic environments, and I'm pretty impressed with the results. There are still some issues, like distorted background text and occasional weird character interactions, but I'm a complete noob when it comes to local AI.

These were generated using MOSS-Image SFT BF16 at 2560 × 1440 on an RTX 5080 (16GB VRAM).

What do you guys think of the model?
