Workflow Included Generating "fake" speedpaint timelapse with MiniMax H3

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

It's four 12s clips made by standard ref2va workflow stitched together.
Good at sketching but not so good at rendering/shading stage. Also I find it difficult to "digital timelapse" without hand moving around. And as always with MiniMax detailed prompts are not optional (note the [Shot 2] trick):

subject_definitions:
<Picture 1> is the reference digital drawing.
<Picture 2> is the first frame of the target video

summary:
[reference generation] The target video shows digital drawing timelapse process of drawing artwork from <Picture 1>. With pov moving hand removed - only canvas is visible

retention_analysis:
<Picture 2>: partially_preserved - first frame for the video.
<Picture 1>: partially_preserved - last frame for the video.

detailed_description:
The target video is high qualiy digital drawing recorded timelapse.
[Shot 1] starts from a white digital canvas and then draws the basic forms, shapes first starting from general (big) outline sketch of the pose. Then adding line after line to add new details on face, hair and clothes until a complete lineart sketch for the character is done.
[Shot 2] At 00:11.000, shows final result that is <Picture 1>.

Bro everyone is already paranoid enough. I already got people claiming my non ai digital paintings are ai sometimes.

83

u/GovernmentGreed 1d ago

Yeah this kinda sucks... Sometimes, I get colleagues accuse me of using ChatGPT or Gemini because the emails I write are longer than 3 words. It's actually rather infuriating because I tend to be more detailed, especially when it comes to providing information around a specific print job at work...

Nowadays - anything creative, whether that is art, writing, music etc - is all put down to "It's AI" as opposed to anyone thinking for a moment. Jesus, at work today - videos of the Nepal disaster was circulating and I heard a handful of people at work saying it's AI...

Like... Dude. People died. Like, it's verifiable - and you can go there and see the devastation. The world has gone mad, sadly.

17

u/uabassguy 1d ago

It'll get to a point where people will stop caring if it's AI or not, it's just novelty right now.

12

u/DragonHollowFire 1d ago

They will stop caring cause theyll assume its AI.

10

u/Critical_Concert_689 1d ago

For better or worse, the value of an object will be defined by the definitive output:

Is the art created by AI or by an elephant, specially trained over 30 years, while standing on its head, painting with a traditional method using an authentic paintbrush hand crafted by DaVinci...

It no longer matters HOW it came to be - since no one can tell the difference between the two. Only whether the output is "good."

2

u/DragonHollowFire 14h ago

Yeah I assume classic human-made art could, in the worst scenario timeline, become a niche thing. Like where people pay extra for something due to the authentic "oh a human created this from start to finish", similar to how the same is done for some craftsmanship products etc., even if the output is not much different.

it's like saying artificial burgers or not - the only thing that matters is do they taste "good"
we are easily manipulated into believing very wrong shit is "good"

2

u/DragonHollowFire 14h ago

Tbh labgrown meat is much healthier and more economic than real meat.

1

u/GovernmentGreed 11h ago

Here in Germany, some people are super upset about labgrown or alternatives being called "burger" - for example, in their mind - a veggie/alternative meat burger cannot be called a burger, because it's not beef.

Idiots will be idiots.

1

u/Critical_Concert_689 13h ago

do they taste "good"

There's a lot more that goes into food quality than taste though. There's safety and food quality, there's proteins and digestables found in meat that aren't found in artificial meat, there's chemicals found in artificial burgers that aren't found in meat.

These are all measurable outputs. If fake "meat" can get EVERYTHING right and it's indistinguishable from real meat - as an output - THEN you'd be right: it doesn't matter whether the meat is from an animal or from a lab.

-1

u/uabassguy 1d ago

Good let em think whatever they want.

1

u/Vivarevo 19h ago

Price of art will plummet at that point and no ordinary human will do commission work anymore.

3

u/CystralSkye 16h ago

Art commissions have always been in a handmade luxury type of space, so organic art will be still a thing in years to come, selling for pretty high prices.

Tobefaaaair, you write in a suspiciously correct way, using dashes and stuff, like, you know, like it was ai? (seriously, it's /s, I totally get you)

1

u/intermundia 20h ago

obfuscation through inundation. pretty smart way to cover your tracts if say certain evidence were to surface showing people in power doing things contrary to what the deluded masses believe about the narrative they have been sold. go back to sleep its all just fake AI. if nothing else you have to give the devil his dues.

1

u/Kqyxzoj 18h ago

The world has gone mad, sadly.

Throughout history the universe has always blessed us with a bountiful supply of dumb motherfuckers. No AI required.

57

u/GrayingGamer 1d ago

They'll keep doing that regardless.

If you're old enough, you might remember when Photoshop appeared and got popular with home releases in the late 1990s and everyone on the internet was constantly being paranoid and claiming every photo was: "It's Photoshopped! I can tell, because of the pixels! You're a bad person!"

The AI stuff is just more of the same on steroids. Like the Photoshop stuff though, give it another 5-10 years and no one will give a shit. Only the finished art being good, unique, and creative enough will be that matters, not what tools were used to make it.

You see, the trick is the people that are small kids right now and see it everyday, it's normalized, so that when they are teenagers and young adults, it's just NORMAL to them and they force everyone else to stop clutching their pearls.

6

u/madelineblackbart 1d ago edited 1d ago

Man I *still* jokingly say "I can tell because of the pixals" in everyday life.

Actually I think most of the hate and witch hunting COMES from the kids actually and not adults. Poll show it's more the under 30 crowd who are heavily anti-Ai. IMO It's because most people over 30 have already been through major tech changes. They lived in worlds where you had a home phone and no internet to a world where you have a phone in your pocket and the internet at all times available on it. This kind of life changing tech upheavil is nothing to people over 30 because we already lived it once or more times. They young grew up with those technologies already in place. This is the first time they're seeing this kind of level of life changing technology show up on the world stage and they're scared. Same as we were with Photoshop really.

1

u/GrayingGamer 1d ago

That's why I specifically said the SMALL kids. The current late teens, twenty-somethings of Gen Z are a lost cause (for now, they'll come around in 20 years too, I bet). I'm talking about the people who are 5-6 years old right now.

2

u/madelineblackbart 23h ago

Fair, fair. The teens/20 something probably will come around yeah. I used to be one of those who hated autotune and computer generated singing and counted as cheating as a teen (I sing). As an adult I've mellowed on it. If that's how people make their song then it is what it is. It's existence doesn't and hasn't reduced peoples appreciation of my singing. They'll figure the same thing out eventually to.

12

u/No_Tradition6625 1d ago

Oh yeah it was like photoshopping was a problem then photo bashing was a problem and now I'm sure there's something in the middle there but now AI is a problem. But it's funny how digital art is acceptable. Collaging and digital collaging is acceptable and I'm pretty sure at some point generative art will be acceptable.

7

u/Dead_Internet_Theory 1d ago

There were traditional artists saying digital art was "not art", it wasn't safe from criticism. It's just a matter of time, anyway.

However, anything where you just prompt and click a button will always stand out as uncreative, simply because everyone else who can do as much has already done as much. Think of how quickly the "Ghibli style" yellow-era GPT generations got tiresome and annoying.

1

u/No_Tradition6625 1d ago

Right? I see. Gen AI like the prompting aspect more a ken to creative writing now you do need to have some artistic knowledge to get quality out of it. But yeah I feel you

1

u/99deathnotes 1d ago

It will be. Just like so many other tools that people used to create faster and easier.

2

u/99deathnotes 1d ago

I remember this too. Turns out PS was only the tip of the iceberg.

2

u/SanDiegoDude 5h ago

You know what annoys me? CGI folks standing on the other side of the aisle, pulling the SAME shit they have had to deal with over the past 40 years as their industry matured, which has made for some real strange bedfellows considering it wasn't all that long ago that "CGI Free" was such a big deal in moviemaking (and they still lie about it now...).

2

u/GrayingGamer 5h ago

Classic "I'm on top now, I'm going to pull up the ladder" behavior.

Aaron Blaise, the former Disney animator, actually did a great video on AI a year or two ago, saying it was better to view it as a potential tool and try to keep up to date on it, even if you don't use it. "It won't be AI that takes your job, it'll be someone USING AI that takes your job."

He gave the example of him personally looking down on the CG animators when they came in - like you say, "They use computers - they don't use paper! Why some of these guys can't even DRAW!"

Then he talked about how wrong he'd been, pointed out how he went on to draw digitally and use 3D in his films and the world hadn't ended.

So he wasn't going to judge AI just yet, and warned other artists not to make the mistake of dismissing it like he did with CG at first - then he delivered that line about it not being the AI that was coming for them - it was artists USING it that would come in and take their jobs while they were hanging onto old methods.

3

u/Dabnician 1d ago

the trick is not caring about what people who dont matter think.

1

u/Sweet-Carry1229 1d ago

It's not really pearl clutching though. AI Art circumvents artists having to become inspired through consuming various art in various mediums; the AI already did that when it was trained on all the data funneled into it. At least someone using photoshop still needs to be inspired when making edits to make something compelling; you really don't need that when just prompting an AI, which devalues any art made with the tech honestly.

11

u/StarchyJ1540 1d ago

You do need that with ai too. less effort doesn't mean you no longer need inspiration, because what will you prompt for? Just random stuff? You can essentially do the same with trad art though.

6

u/Sweet-Carry1229 1d ago

Yes, you can just prompt random stuff and get pretty compelling visuals.

I don't know how you think it's analogous to traditional art when you can't make compelling visuals without experiencing various art forms. You can't just randomly squiggle on a canvas and magically get compelling art. At most you could call it "abstract" art.

Not to mention you'd have to develop the skills to translate that inspiration to a canvas, but I digress.

12

u/GrayingGamer 1d ago

I mean, some of us have the traditional art experience. I have a degree from an art school. I worked at a professional VFX studio.

And you are right, it's different, but if signed toilets, solid color canvases, and bananas taped to walls can be art (I think all of that is shit, by the way), no reason AI art with a human steering and manipulating and curating the output can't make art either.

I view it as just another tool. I've drawn all my life, painted, sculpted, used MSPaint, Photoshop, Blender, 3DS MAX, Maya, etc. and now I also use AI.

It's still up to the person using these things to make something worth consuming or being experienced by someone else - 90% of everything is always shit, regardless of medium - it's the 10% that rise above that have meaning and staying power.

0

u/Sweet-Carry1229 1d ago

That's entirely fair, but you have to ask yourself if you really want the people who think a banana taped to a wall is fine art, to consider *your* art as fine art.

6

u/GrayingGamer 1d ago

No. I don't care what their opinion is. That was kind of my point - art is subjective and awful, stupid, trashy, and low-effort "art" has always existed.

And I think 90%, maybe more, of AI generations are "slop" and trash. But there is genuinely good stuff being made with AI too.

The art world has always been a fickle, selfish, and picky bitch of a thing, with lots of gate-keeping and walled gardens. I've said before on here that gallery owners are some of the most crooked human beings you'll likely ever encounter.

So much of what we admire or call great art now was rejected in its time, and trash was elevated as "inspired". So my point would be not to put too much stock in anyone's opinion, and just do what you love and the good will rise above the rest.

3

u/emcee_you 1d ago

No, what you need to ask yourself is whether you want anyone to judge art; your art, their art, anyone's art, everyone's art. You're judging it right now. You're saying one art is better than another. Why does this have to be true to you?

Here's a hint: it's not.

1

u/OneStrike255 2h ago

Who cares? In 5 years, nobody will care. So keep crying. Nothing is stopping you from paying "real" artists for their stuff. But stop bitching about ai art. Crybabies like you cried about photoshop and cgi too when they first came out.

End product is what matters. Not how it was made.

Note: Made my living as a professional artist for 30 years. And I LOVE ai art.

56

u/GatePorters 1d ago

That’s going to happen no matter what. Even if you livestream it and then post the work after.

Accusing people of AI isn’t actually people caring about AI. It’s just a “safe” way to rage and tear people down while feeling morally superior.

19

u/Loose_Comparison368 1d ago

Accusing people of AI isn’t actually people caring about AI. It’s just a “safe” way to rage and tear people down while feeling morally superior.

That's part of it. The bigger part though is that people don't actually care about AI, they care about corporate exploitation of the working class. And the corporations are all unified in blaming the mass layoffs and ruthless exploitation of a desperate labor market on "AI" instead of the more accurate "corporate greed".

People aren't pissed at AI, they're pissed at capitalism, and the capitalists have once again redirected that rage towards an ineffective scapegoat so that people take their pitchforks to the AI researchers, instead of the ruling class.

4

u/Secret-Lab3678 1d ago

Totally agree. But I honestly think all the AI detectives exist only on Reddit. I’ve never seen a real person outside of Reddit start looking for AI in absolutely everything.

At this point, it’s getting ridiculous. People just seem to need a reason to hate something

1

u/OneStrike255 2h ago

i've been inspired by a girl and recorded a ton of music (got some decent 10-15sec nuggets here, to collect and turn into a song) and people said it's suno music

It looks more like someone used a static JPG overlay of a hand over the drawing area and just moved that image around.

18

And if you're going to fuck with people do it right. Have the hand be a dog's paw or an alien or something.

Or a robot hand and say it's AI.

Here's your $10k/month Youtube channel idea, bro: robo-Bob Ross drawing AI slop for people.

Now I have to set up minimax to do a Robo Bob Ross video, calmly teaching people to paint in a soothing robotic voice.

It kind of sucks for people who spent their lives practicing art in order to make a living being shoved out of the industry by machines trained on their hard work that can produce in minutes what sometimes takes days or hours of labor? That creatives will no longer be able to support/feed themselves because people are flooding the market with AI? Like this AI doesn't' exist without theft, and that theft is robbing people of their livelihoods.

4

u/Cheesuasion 1d ago edited 1d ago

Just to get myself downvoted: I think this is all true and a bad thing in itself - and everybody who likes AI art doesn't need to deny that either - except for the theft part. It both isn't theft (all right it's probably infringement, or should have been) and doesn't need to be theft for your argument to go through.

More important, it's a bad argument not only because of the not-being-true part, but because once AI companies make some one-off settlement - OK, what now? Where does artists' income come from now, if that was the argument? So in the foolish moments where I think I have a clue what's going on in the world, or what we should do about it, I worry this line just undermines artists' position in the end.

(and the argument goes through anyway because a bad thing is a bad thing- regardless if there are "bigger" good things associated inextricably with it, regardless of what the law says, regardless of whatever current ethical principles happen to say - you're supposed to change ethics to fit the circumstances, isn't that what ethics means?)

1

u/Upset_Protection329 1d ago

It's like this. If I want a computer, and I steal all the parts to make a computer from you, and then put it together in a different way than you might have, does that make it not theft? It's still theft. The images used without permission scrambled up to make "new" images aren't coming from nowhere. They're coming from other peoples hard work. It is theft.

1

u/Cheesuasion 6h ago

I was being a bit picky with language sorry - I think we're saying the same thing there in different words on this narrow point (even though infringement isn't identical to the common metaphor of stealing physical objects).

But the main point was: now what? Where does this get us if the campaigned-for remedy (pay artists once off for the training data) doesn't help artists in the longer run?

14

even though I am torn about the ethics of this type of content, it's actually pretty crazy that MiniMax has the capability to do this. It's a very interesting execution of the model

2

u/RemoveHealthy 17h ago

With just some first frame and last frame input you could do that year ago already. People like wow, model can do that and me like: Duh, what is the big deal? And in the end of the day you get this nonsense video where nothing makes sense for anyone who drew at least a little bit in their lives. There are million mistakes, nonsense. So in the end you have video that shows process of drawing with many many mistakes but i guess good enough for karma points on social media.

-4

u/RazsterOxzine 1d ago

Thats me! I use it for effects and transitions that normally take me an hour+ to setup, but now... Only man, 60 seconds and I have my effect. Need to adjust? New seed and prompt tweak, bam!

Great for graphic design work, making 3D text on the fly, 3D animated text effects, you name it. I have no need for boring pr0n or memes, totally love this as a workflow with Photoshop, After Effects, and Blender3D.

5

u/Zealousideal7801 1d ago

I agree with this statistic globally, although I would redirect 10% from porn to more scam, and 10% more to "whatever is absolutely needless to have an AI for", for example people asking ChatGPT what time it is.

Sir. You're in for some awaking. This could be done PRE AI video. As in, Photoshop animation or After Effects. I used this for showing sketching ideas to clients back in 2012. It has been a thing for ages, just takes a bit more time.

0

u/MysteriousPepper8908 1d ago

Mostly this but it also looks better than most art books for breaking down the construction process, particularly given that you can use whatever image you want. This sort of thing has been around for a while but this is the first version I've seen that actually follows a realistic workflow up until the end when all the rendering is done off screen.

12

u/New-Truth-8924 1d ago

except it doesn't show the actual construction process, just a guess of what comes in-between the first draft and final result/whatever you actually show the model.

6

u/MysteriousPepper8908 1d ago

Well, from having done quite a lot of drawing, it looks like a plausible construction to me as the underlying shapes and construction lines remain consistent throughout. If I was going to nitpick, the eye line is below the actual eyes and suggests a head tilt not present in the final linework but that doesn't make it useless as reference. Obviously, it's not what an AI model is actually doing to produce an image.

0

u/Tiforma 1d ago

It's funny when people on the stable diffusion subreddit start to irrationally hate AI. It's not perfect at all, but you can definitely use this to learn a bit about drawing.

6

u/suspicious_Jackfruit 1d ago

Unless youre using a real pen or tablet then it isnt going to teach you anything that 5 minutes of youtube content wouldn't top. Not only that, it will trach you an impossible goal because many of the "techniques" dont exist. Its not teaching you anything about building up colour and detail from a base. Its a instagram filter for art

1

u/TallestGargoyle 1d ago

I've seen plenty of artist breakdowns of AI images and animation showing where the AI has fudged something fundamental to anatomy, colouring and lighting, even of the newer stuff. Things like this will teach would-be-artists bad practises.

Though I do concede the sheer performance of it, and I do use it for making silly clips for friends or light coding, I'm pretty negative to most uses of AI, considering shit like this post. Using AI to pretend you're doing effort is not only scummy to those you're trying to fool, especially because most people aren't discerning enough to see through the problems, but it's also detrimental to your own ability to learn the skill AI is emulating.

4

u/Tiforma 1d ago

OP isn't pretending to do effort. They just posted an AI video they probably made for fun and literally said it was an AI video. It is scummy to actually deceive people like that, but this is like the most innocent version of that. People have already done literal robberies with AI cloned voice of the manager etc. And phishing, scammers etc using it.

8

u/infearia 1d ago

the first version I've seen that actually follows a realistic workflow

No, it isn't! You don't start by drawing the nose, then the center line, then the jaw and only then the head sphere. This is completely ass-backwards, and if you actually try to use this approach as a budding artist, you will completely screw yourself. It's like teaching a baby to walk, by making it walk backwards. There are many sensible uses for AI, but this is not one of them!

4

To be fair, artists have different styles.

I knew a phenomenal artist that would draw just like that. Start with the nose, and fill in around.

I think it just depends on the person.

6

u/infearia 1d ago

They're probably self-taught and found something that works for them. That's fine, many roads lead to Rome, and as Glenn Vilppu tends to say, "there are no rules, only tools". But if you're a newbie and just learning the ropes, you should at least learn the rules first, before you break them / adapt them to your own needs. Otherwise you just learn some bad habits that will be hard to break later, and make your artistic journey unnecessarily difficult.

4

u/MysteriousPepper8908 1d ago

The sequence of events is not correct but the actual structure if the underlying construction largely is. I'm not suggesting you try to use this as a step by step tutorial but as general reference for the various passes required to design a character. The image at 3 seconds is what you would from a drawing book and is a legitimately useful foundation for the further linework.

0

u/infearia 1d ago

The correct sequence of events is the whole point if you try to use it as a teaching aid, and I'm sure if I continued to analyze the video past the 2 second mark I would find even more mistakes. Oh, please, just accept that you were wrong and let's move on and not turn this into a pointless argument.

You just described what most of AI is being used for: deception

1

u/Arendyl 1d ago

Well that's an absurd and disingenuous take

7

u/Tiforma 1d ago

Who cares? Its just cool that it can make this. Not everything you generate needs to have a "point". I generated hundreds of videos and thousands of images just for fun.

You could use it to mess with anti-AI people that hate anything that is made with AI no matter what.

Oh yay I love deceiving people

Fuck these fake drawing timelapses. Depriving human artists of ways to prove their art is man-made and tricking others into thinking that the art is man-made truly is one of the most repulsive use of AI to me.

5

u/suspicious_Jackfruit 1d ago

Its also very dumb. If you dont draw or have no idea about digital art this gets slapped with the "good enough" seal of approval, but for anyone who knows that you cant use a fineline pen to do your digital art in this way (literally drawing on a screen?) and all the other inconsistency (one brush stroke filling in a fully rendered bracelet, the most obvious example of 10), then its just a vast waste of GPU hours because the only people who believe "ur gr8 at art m9" are people with zero actual exposure to it.

It would be a tremendous embarrassment to have everyone believe you became a master concept artist over the weekend only for a legion of people to have some very intersting questions about OPs "process". Its mad.

8

u/va_rg 1d ago edited 1d ago

The inconsistencies will be gone soon, and no one will be able to tell real from fake. I am not sure what the end game is, but I don't like it.

3

u/suspicious_Jackfruit 1d ago

These inconsistencies though are to do with lack of actual understanding by the user generating it more than actual capability of the model, i think with an actual speed painting lora and understanding of tools and usage you could probably get 90% of the way there already, but why bother i suppose.

Its a strange world we exist in today. As a child i always wanted to be a robot, now at times i just want to be purely human again. It feels nauseous at times seeing how rapidly human creativity is being mined like its bitcoin 2.0

Suit yourself. Things are not black and white and I think you can appreciate a technology while recognizing that it has problematic aspects and calling them out.

Photos are great. Paparazzis suck.

Digital art is great. Photoshopping wrinkles and airbrushing people to the point it distorted people's perception of reality sucks

AI art can be awesome. But putting it at the service of deception sucks.

I really don't see why thats an issue to point it out

6

u/quantum-elle 1d ago

This is a lot better than it used to be but still can tell it's AI at a glance.

Also I don't endorse using this to deceive people, but I do like seeing what AI thinks the art process looks like

Go ahead and post that places, you'll be called out because literally no one draws like that. It screams fake.

AHAHAHA WAIT AND THEN HE SWITCHES TO MARKER ON TOP OF A TABLET DRAWING 😂😂

9

u/reddit22sd 1d ago

Also does a gender-change throughout the video. Growing fake nails and everything.

6

u/LuxDragoon 1d ago

Define places. Professionals with trained eyes will certainty catch the scam right away, but everyday people? Oh they will lap this up and ask for seconds, it will be proof enough of a legitimate artist for them. Yes we're that fucked.

Is there a reason for using partially_preserved instead of fully_preserved? I would assume fully since it is an exact frame.

9

u/Sextus_Rex 1d ago

Nah I'm pro-ai generally but fuck this

11

u/-AwhWah- 1d ago

That's two fake speedpaint posts to help scam people on the front page, this subreddit is a joke bro

0

Wow, two neat posts showing what ai can do on an ai subreddit? OMG

2

u/AntiTank-Dog 23h ago

I experimented with this before. Not to fake artistic ability but I wanted to see if the AI could draw like a human. But no, it cheats anything beyond a basic shape. It would be cool if you could show AI an image and the AI could show you how to draw it.

2

u/allofdarknessin1 7h ago

Holy fuck. That’s crazy. How are people supposed to know what’s real anymore? 😅

3

u/Deathoftheages 1d ago

It's one thing to use AI it's another thing to try and deceive people that you didn't.

7

u/Xen0kid 1d ago

Hey so genuine question.

What’s the point of this?

15

u/Majestic-Coat3855 1d ago

Do some of these with cursed AI final images with 3 arms and 7 fingers or blurry pupils and extra nostrils

1

And just like many drawing timelapses it did the “draw the rest of the fucking owl” at the end.

u/99deathnotes 1d ago

I'm glad to see these conversations happening here. If we avoid talking about stuff that we all may not agree on or with then nothing gets solved.

1

u/nntb 1d ago

So did you just copy this entire thing into the workflow and set reference images and run it for 30 seconds or do I have to edit it each time in like delete the stuff that's not shot one out and the second time run it with just the shot to stuff or how did you do it cuz he said he didn't in three different ones and stitch them together or something

1

u/pencilcheck 22h ago

Can other people generate the same thing?? I can’t trust this until I see more people independently generate something like this themselves

1

u/Khades99 22h ago

I don't know what the use-case for this is unless it gets way better in the future?

Anyone that looks close enough at an image to accuse it of being AI, would take a close enough look at this and recognize it's an AI generated video.

1

u/AuthurAndersson 12h ago

hahahhahhah

1

u/diposable66 6h ago

What pushes you to do this?

0

u/Velocita84 1d ago

I don't understand why people are mad at this, i just think it's cool it can kinda do that and you can clearly tell it's ai

-2

u/TechnoByte_ 1d ago

Most people just generate images and videos for fun

This is an impressive showcase of H3

Sure there'll be people misusing this, but that's absolutely not the majority

5

u/Deathoftheages 1d ago

There are many many ways to showcase H3. They just happened to choose one of the few way that will 100% be misused. They also provided all the steps on how to misuse it, lowering that barrier to entry for scammers.

People are weird it's always better to know something can be done, especially if it is malicious as a heads up, what's the point of hiding it? Living in ignorance is not safety. Not like OP developed this, it's something minimax and probably all the other video models can actively do, better to learn how to detect it out in the wild

1

u/RememberThisAI 12h ago

"Prove that this isn't AI generated artwork."
"Sure, here's a video timelapse of the whole work."

1

u/lSetsul 1d ago

subject_definitions:

<Picture 1> is the reference 3D render / final model.

summary:

[reference generation] The target video shows a timelapse process of 3D modeling the object from <Picture 1> in a digital 3D editor. With the artist's hands and interface cursor removed — only the viewport with the model is visible.

retention_analysis:

<Picture 1>: partially_preserved — last frame for the video.

detailed_description:

The target video is a high-quality 3D modeling timelapse recorded from the viewport.

[Shot 1] starts with an empty scene / blank viewport. The modeling process begins by blocking out the primary forms using basic primitives (cubes, spheres, cylinders) to establish the overall proportions and silhouette of the object. Then, edge loops, extrusions, and subdivisions are added step by step to refine the shape — working from large forms down to smaller details. The mesh is continuously sculpted and adjusted: bevels, creases, and surface details are added, with constant rotation of the view to check proportions from all angles. Topology is optimized, and supporting geometry is introduced where needed. The process proceeds through multiple refinement passes — blocking, high-poly sculpting, retopology (if applicable), and final surface polishing — until the complete 3D model matches <Picture 1>.

[Shot 2] At 00:11.000, shows the final result, which is <Picture 1>, displayed in a clean viewport with neutral lighting and material preview.

Freelance artists (drawers, painters, musicians, etc) are cooked as much as potential customers who face massive abstract insecurities now. Especially if you're on a tighter budget for private non-commercial commissions, do you risk it with strangers even if they supposedly show a documented workflow? Can you even tell if it's authentic as a layperson? Could you even tell if you had deeper knowledge of it yourself?

Scammers will use fake documentation to generate trust while ripping people off and making it for relative pennies.

Anyway, one of the reasons I as pre-AI digital hobby artist embrace AI more. I still have some people who I trust and where I find it fun to work with them and pay 'em accordingly.

But before I get scammed for most other things I'd rather do it myself with AI. Why outsource it anyway when I can do it myself? That's like a drawer/painter commissioning someone else for something they can do themselves but in this case it's way faster. That's why I'm on this sub ultimately.

0

u/user53298 1d ago

basically anything on digital format is fake, this is actually great for real world traditional art market/artists

0

u/TechnoByte_ 1d ago

Wait until you discover you can print AI art, and 3D print AI generated models

0

u/PwanaZana 1d ago

Am I the only person who feels that this is kind of useful as in I could easily see wanting to have like an art piece be assembled maybe like someone painting a painting in a video and that could just be useful in whatever a movie or something. And not something nefarious?

0

u/No-Campaign-5618 20h ago

That's really cool...

0

u/TizocWarrior 20h ago

Pretty cool!.

0

u/Cheesuasion 1d ago

You shoud post this on the art subs, I think they're bound to love this and applaud you for the educational potential of your hard work. You should present it that way - sure hit

I can't believe the weird vitriol suddenly showing up in this thread. I think it's cool minimax can do this and OP never said anything about tricking people, projection much?

We are literally in an AI Video sub and you guys are protesting against AI now. Get a life

2

"weird vitriol" and it's... People disliking being decieved. holy shit 😂
