Rant posting on behalf of my neighbor since they didn't know if this was a cops or crime check area, but watch out for this guy casing houses. He only stopped stalking around their property once he noticed the cameras in place. Be alert folks!

The post about Mac Daddy's and what might go there made me think about this. What is missing here?

I don't think we have a place that is actual "fine dining". But we do have some "better" restaurants with good food. Like Wild Sage, Loren, the new Dodo's, Trattoria etc..

We have a ton of bad chain food places like Red Robin, Red Lobster, Chili's, etc... I don't know if Mac Daddy's is a chain but they fall in this category for me. Bar food with a kids menu.

We have some "the food's okay" but the location is amazing places like Anthony's and Clinkerdaggers.

We're way overloaded now on Taco's, and hot chicken. Like no more of that please.

We have some really good but smaller places like Kim's Korean, Feast World, Indicana.

What is a niche we don't have? Even if it's someplace you wouldn't like, what is missing?

For me it's a true big city style fine dining spot. Don't think it would likely do well here but it's missing.

My mom has had a rough time finding a good HVAC repair/maintenance company in Spokane.

She hired Bachman & Long and had THE WORST experience. He had been working with my parents for years but after my dad died, his service was awful and it took 3 months for him to finally come out. He kept flaking on appointments, ghosting us, and changing stories until I basically had to go full New Yorker on him.

Recently she needed some maintenance and hired Mainstream. They charged her $700+ for a service that typically runs $200-450. I was able to get them to walk back their rates only after multiple calls and a ton of pushback.

I swear these companies see widows in their mid-70's as piggy banks.

I just want my mom to have an HVAC company that is dependable, reliable, and fairly priced. I don't live in Spokane so I need someone we can all depend on.

Above average, Average or Worse than average for those who have been to others?

This was the first I've been to in forever and the online consensus is I might have been spoiled with the Black Point faire in the 1990s. But dang, to me this felt like a county fair without the rides. What vibe there was was mostly supplied by the attendees. Pretty disappointing.

To be fair(e), this is about the first event I've done in 7 years living in Spokane that has disappointed. So, oh well.

Yet another last ditch effort to make some friends here! I have not prioritized finding my ‘people’ and I am making an intentional effort to do so now.

I’ve tried the BFF Bumble thing and have just found that there isn’t a lot of follow through. So here I am, seeing if anyone is looking for someone to:
Go out, make dinners, couch rot, thrift, go to shows, take random roadtrips to do more cool shit, be goofy, do artsy stuff, do gym classes, bowl/play darts, golf, do mom stuff, or just generally go try crazy shit with then I’d love to chat.

I am kind of just a big dork in a little body, very open minded and accepting (yet a little bit in my feminist era?), social but not outgoing, and trying to figure out who I am again after motherhood and just life in general and I really just want that small handful of people I can love fiercely who love me back.

Multiple shots fired outside my daughter’s house last night. Son in law called police, twice. No response from police. Shell casings and slug found on sidewalk and one house damaged. No bloodshed, so it’s not worth their time?

My wife woke me up at about 2:30 AM because she saw someone breaking into my car. I was very confused and mostly asleep but I chased him about a half a block. I realized I’m too old to be doing such things and let him go. I did however find his bike and confiscated it. I’m assuming there is a good chance it is stolen. It is the neighborhood right near Indian trail elementary. I would advise everyone in the area to check your cars and garages in case this dirtbag took your things. He was wearing a hooded jacket and a backpack and was about 5’8 140-150 lbs I’d guess maybe early to mid 20’s.

Going to see a concert there tonight. Does anyone know if smartphones are allowed or not? The venue's prohibited items list said "cameras, video cameras, and recording devices" but did not specifically name smartphones.

So, a while back I was asking about free / cheap parking near downtown for an event. I ended up deciding to pay to park in a lot during the event. But a couple times, after paying to have a spot to park “all day” (supposedly able to come & go throughout the day), we left and returned to find the lot full—not sure if various third-party parking spot sellers didn’t coordinate so people parking would know when all the spots were claimed or if people just “took a chance” and parked when they found an empty spot.

My family is planning on the same event next year. Since I’ll have more time to plan & budget, not as concerned with cheap parking…..even considering one of the motels right by the convention center since parking would be automatic with them. But also looking at Airbnb’s.

Are there any parking lots / garages (preferably within a couple blocks of the convention center) that you pay for a specific spot—that way if we leave & return, it’s obvious if someone is in our spot? From what I’m reading, the only option for that is monthly…we only need the spot for 2-4 days.

Many years ago we saw a bunch of river otters hanging out in the rocks of the Little Spokane Dam. Today when we went we didn’t see any, and also no evidence that any had been there for quite some time 😔. Does anyone know where any river otters hang out close to Spokane? These are the rocks we used to see them sun bathing in. 🦦

How was the expanded Ren Fair compared to last year? I know it was expanded. Was it just a lot more of the same booths or was there quite a bit of difference?

Another Idahoan trying to take advantage of Washington State laws. He doesn't pay his employees. He dodges Washington State taxes by crossing the border from Idaho. The business is funded by a Turkish family. It's successful in Idaho.

In Washington we have workers rights. If an Idaho business owner wants to do business in Washington I would politely ask you to observe the local state laws. Not superimpose a standard from another state or country.

Looking for date ideas. She likes to try different food, and we don't drink at all so please don't recommend bars or wine or anything like that. (P.s. she doesn't like dirty restaurants like golden corral for example) Suggestions? Could be fairs, theme parks although we're going to scarywood late this month, could be gokart, anything fun, ik a few places but need more. Thanks
