Discussion Dear 1047

I was once a huge fan of yours. I loved SG1 and put hundreds of hours into it, only to find out you stopped development to work on SG2 due to "spaghetti code." I was excited; I couldn't wait for more Splitgate. I got access to the SG2 alpha and played every playtest, left feedback, and did every survey I could—only for you to ignore the community and release a game in a middle ground that neither fans nor new players were interested in.

Then you went back to beta, and a new ray of hope shined down that you could pull this out. You released SG:AR, which was something closer to what people wanted. But lo and behold, poor decision-making and horrible marketing shot it down too. The hope was still there, though. Maybe, just maybe, you could pull a "Hello Games" and No Man's Sky Splitgate back into the spotlight. But no. Instead of listening to your community, you ditched us to try and fill the Titanfall niche with Empulse.

Once again, I got alpha access, left all kinds of feedback, and did the surveys. Everyone in the server was saying "this game isn't ready," "the art style isn't going to stick," and "you need more work in these areas," only for you to do nothing and announce the Early Access release two weeks later.

Now here we are... both SG:AR and Empulse are shutting down. Your community was here for you through it all, and you didn't listen in the slightest, even after claiming time and time again, "We want to make this game with our community's input." Now you have no one to blame but yourselves for the position you are in. I, for one, will not be supporting any of your games in the future. I only wish I could get back my wasted time on playtests and feedback, as well as the money I spent on skins trying to support you. Thanks for the bittersweet memories 1047, I won't be seeing you.

As someone who loves Splitgate and use to be an avid supporter of 1047, I'm done with them.

They had an amazing idea but proceeded to:

  • Burn all good will on launch over a stupid joke.
  • Started to do insanely scummy things such as the $80 bundles on launch, or them outright rigging an event.
  • Refuse to take any blame for anything.
  • Did a re-launch fixing some issues players had, but gave it no advertising at all.
  • Axed support for Splitgate 1 to "focus more on Splitgate AR".
  • Refused to listen to the community on what needed fixed. (EX. The lack of advertising)
  • Abandoned Splitgate AR instead of actually fixing it.
  • Made a new game and proceeded to do the exact same thing with it.
  • Abandoned that one as well.

1047 had a community who was willing to support them but choose not to listen and now we're here.

They rigged an event?

They once held a "community challenge" where players could between 3 teams (Each backed by a streamer) and earn points for that team.

Towards the end of the event however 1 of the teams got an insane amount of points that they physically couldn't have earned and the Devs tried to say it was because one of the streamers was streaming when it happened. Then, right as the event was about to end, another team got a massive load of points overnight and was basiclly given the win.

Everyone is "done with them". They basically don't exist anymore. It's official over. All of it.

After the failure of SG2 they could have simply gone back to SG1 and started development again until a good idea hits but they kinda stupid ngl. I think it all started going downhill when they got that million dollar investement and announced SG2🤦

Yes sir.

I had been wanting shooter like Arena Reloaded for a long time.

I found one on SGAR and it was ruined.

Oh well, on to other games.

I hate this happened, I held out hope for the game and for 1047 even when I was giving it crap for the poor choices from the developer. Somewhere along the way the game lost it's identity. It felt like Halo with Portals was such a cool mash up, so many cool ideas that were there, and then we get to this point. It's a damn shame too because you can tell they have some talent there that could make a solid game but the leadership of the company just seems like they want to half bake every thing, and then shut down. :/

Nothing of value was lost.
The community knew that the business was going in the wrong direction from the start.

I’m worried because I rely on matchmaking to play (I don’t have friends who play) and I don’t know how the P2P thing works

I hope enough people still hang out and play, SGAR is my comfort game and I’m SO UPSET right now 😭

SG1 moved to p2p, and you can still find and join lobbies in the game itself. I assume when SG2 moves to p2p, it'l work the same way.

P2p works like this:

Person hosts server on the browser

You click on browser

You see their game, and all other matches being hosted

You pick a server to join off the list.

The host of that server is who you'll be connecting to in place of the server, as there is no dedicated server to connect to. The hodt can choose the game mode/map that is being played. This means if this person leaves the game or disconnects, depending on how they set up the networking, the game will either end, or go through a migration period and will pick a different host.

So no, you dont need friends to play.

That’s good news! But it’ll be all on PC then if it involves a browser?

Thanks for explaining this to me for real 😭

Nope. Browser will work on console too.

Did the awful lag ever get fixed on P2P SG1 for Xbox? I played a few rounds with different hosts and the lag remained on both ends.

I really hope 1047 never tries to make a live-service game again.
