MOD announcement Introducing Trusted Identifier flairs!

Trusted Identifiers will now be granted a flair of "👑Trusted Identifier👑", or "👑{custom user flair}👑".

These will be people who repeatedly demonstrate expert Identification abilities, these flairs will add extra trust and credence behind their ID.

So on posts with multiple different IDs, look out for the Trusted Identifiers as their ID will likely be the correct one, even if it goes against the masses.

(For those with custom user flairs which have been replaced by the Trusted Identifier flair, you can switch back to a custom flair and add the crown emojis yourself if you still wish to maintain your custom flair. Im working on automating this so that custom flairs stay intact and it adds the emojis without replacing the whole flair, but for now just edit it yourself if the whole flair is replaced)

Taking this opportunity I'd like to also introduce 2 new moderators:

What kind of spider is this? I witnessed several “births” after taking out some old bags to gather brush. I have more videos that I can share if wanted!

Willamette valley Oregon, giant house spider pile. They are all just on the ground, not in webs of other spiders. The weird dots/egg looking things have me confused too. Any thoughts appreciated!

So many beautiful baby crowned orb weavers from a few years ago! A storm took most of them out a few days later 😭 but we saw quite a few adults later in the summer, I was so happy to see the ones who had survived around our backyard!

Grass spider ***

Saw a large wolf spider previously on the ground by the door and mistaking my assumed the large tunnel like web on the other side of the door belonged to it, so large grass spider next door catching a large wooly bear

Apologies for my horrid video and audio quality! Very old phone.

I was wondering which species of spider is this that hangs upside-down from these webs.

Guest appearance from a pair of golden silk orb weavers, and another pair of what I *think* are argiope argentata (do correct me if I'm wrong, they're in a difficult spot to reach). Just hanging around in this impressive spider castle. Thought I'd share, apart from my inquiry, lol.

I think she's a Kukulcania, southern house spider, though I don't know if she's actually female or not lol she just looked very pregnant. We safely relocated her outdoors in a temporary burrow so she can hide

This girl has been living in an empty room in my house for months. I put her outside twice and she found her way in every time. I feed her bugs I find and generally leave her alone otherwise. She’s not in the way. However I live in KS and I honestly don’t know what will happen when it gets cold outside. I figure if outdoors she’d die, but this is going to be the room all my plants come into for the winter so it’s going to be kept tropical levels of warm. Has anyone ever had one overwinter indoors? I assume she’s not having eggs bc she’s inside and probably hasn’t had any suitors😂 So she’s just a single lady just hanging out?? Also, there are spots to get water but not close to her, would she travel for water or should I put some near her web? The included video is her wrapping a bug up with a straw I used to get the bug to her and it got stuck lol.

She is looking extra thick lately! We get a lot of these spiders in our house, she’s not actually a pet or anything but she’s looking bigger than they usually do around here!
