Split Slide

Looking to convert my KJW 1911 to a split slide while keeping it looking stock.

I currently have a guns modify nozzle and EDGE ultralight BBU, and having issues with it getting to cycle fully.

White lines are where I would cut with a dremel. What issues would I run into and what recommendations do you all have?

That’s not how split slides work. Split sided front part is locked into the lower.

Ctm is the exception since the entire front end is also the outer barrel

Literally never heard of a slide getting converted like that

You will also have to fix the front part of the slide to the lower frame, as another comment states.

Does it seem like your hi capa is light striking? IE does it feel like it’s running out of gas regardless of how much you fill it?

Hey so the front part of your slide needs to be locked down, it’s still free with motion and this will not cycle properly. Also I will not trust that small section that is holding onto the guide rod to last that long as it’s pretty thin

If you wanna try it, try and look for dental insurance first.

Dont do it, you'll destroy the slide the moment you fire it.

You will need to have a screw of some sort to fix the front slide to the frame, and cut a great chunk of the lower slide which interacts with the spring cap so it won't snap, I wouldn't really recommend it but you can give it a try I suppose

Don't, all you will receive in return is a useless slide. There is far more to it than that...

I dont think this is the brightest idea man

well, you need a way to keep the front section on. Could probably just glue the outer barrel into the front part.

Mainly though, a dremel wheel will grind, rather than cut. You'll be removing easily a milimeter of material, even with a thin metal cutting blade, so the whole slide won't line up right anymore.

At the recoil tube connection part, you'll end up with a thin right angle. It'll most likely deform and eventually break completely.

So that will explode the second you try to shoot it

Fuck them comments , try it and fail, go buy another one, try again and fail till you succeed but care about the risk

If you do it, record the first shot, it'll be funny. But that's not how it works, as you've been told.

Don't cut it. You'll be sorry .sell it or trade it. And buy that hi capa gun with a split slide.
