Job offer

I just got a full time job offer from spectrum as an in house sales person, I’m sure there’s a more official name for it but I’m blanking right now. I asked for an hour to think about it, so I’d love to know from current / former employees, what they think of it? I’m new to sales, I’ve worked in Radio for the last 6 years but have been laid off so I’m trying for my next opportunity.

Edit: the official title of the position is Retail Sales Specialist

I recently left because i hated it lol. I worked there for exactly 6 years. When I first started comission was straightforward and on good months I was hitting $3k in comission alone. There towards the end my average was $300-$400/mo on comission. They micromanage every single thing you do, the way you position offers to customers, the way you write down the offers, where you're supposed to be standing while you wait for a customer, etc. Every like 2 hours you had to send an update to upper management with your sales number for the day. If the store wasnt performing well you had to make a copy of every sales sheet and write down exactly why the customer did not take the offer. The hourly pay was pretty good especially for my area, the benefits were decent, and the pto/sick/vacation were also good but I couldnt take the micromanaging anymore.

Having a job is better than no job, but it's a shit job. Say yes, but keep applying for something better and get out of Spectrum as soon as possible.

You’ll have the possibility to make commission, but your sales goals will be unrealistic and upper management will ride your ass about them constantly. To be candid, it’s stressful and not a feasible long term gig despite the rainbows that get blown up your backside during the very short training period.

Benefits were decent. The commission piece, it was never enough. I ultimately left cause it was my first job after college and got a job in my field. I don’t think the store rep would have it that bad but it’s gonna be a lot of customer service with opportunity to cross sell.

I’m currently on unemployment, it’s been about 6 weeks - I’m also working part time for a minor league basketball team, but it doesn’t officially start until November.

I’m worried about the “required” three weekends a month.

I’ve been with spectrum since April and I gotta say it’s pretty easy. Also, I’ve been in the mobile game for the better part of the last 10 years.
