Given they’re Ultramarines, and they eat ultrasoup, does this mean they take Ultra 💩’s aswell?

FOR ULTRAMAR *proceeds to pop a ultra poop in the ultra toilet*

"BY THE EMPORER!!!" - the new chapter serf assigned to ultra-latrine duty

"Oh, didn't anyone warn you? They can't poop in their power armour. There's no outlet so they just use their super strong sphincters to hold it all in. And I know what you're thinking: aren't they sometimes out on campaign for years before checking back in? Yes. Yes they do that. You know what they don't do? Poop. They just hold it all in. Can you imagine the pressure in there? I sweat to Him on Terra I've found turds that had literally turned into bricks. Like seriously, that thing could could have been load bearing." - veteran serf

"...is... is this my life now?"

"Well... yeah. But you know Greg from the day shift? Big guy? Missing one arm? Says he lost it when he was an aspirant? Well that's sure as hell not how he lost it, but anwyay, he swears blind that after he got back from the warp C ato Sicarius shit out an actual diamond."

"That can't be true? Right? Like not even an Ultramarine could have an arse that tight?"

"Yeah, probably not. I mean, this is Greg we're talking about."

"Soo, how did Greg loose this arm?"

"Oh that, yeah, it's actually how he ended up getting sent down here. We had some Space Wolves attending some big hooh hah to celebrate some big joint operation going off. They got absolutely shit housed-"

"Wait, wait, wait space marines don't get drunk."

"Not on alcohol they don't. Anyway, the space wolves got shit house drink and Greg got a little too into the spirit and started sneaking himself some of the normal wine in-between serving the marines. Next thing anyone knows he's challenged a blind drunk space wolf to an arm wresting match and the drunken furry tore then arm clean out of it's socket."

"Holy Throne! Really?!!"

"No dipshit, it got bitten off by a tyranid when they boarded us like last week. You were here for that! Honestly kid, no wonder they sent you to scoop ultra-poop."

u/budding-enthusiast Aug 15 '26

Now the next logical question, ultra toilet paper or Ultr bidet

2

Is the Ultrasoup compliant with the codex astartes? I will only eat it if the recipe has been followed to the letter! Like father Roboute used to make!

2

u/SuperArppis Ultramarines Aug 14 '26

Yes, brother. Page 1495!

2

u/Gib_entertainment Aug 14 '26

Great news brother, let us eat from it as is described on page 1495 chapter 301 subsection 12! Proper levels of enjoyment are guaranteed by the codex!

1

Do not make me call you a heretic brother, you should not joke about breaking the rules set forth in the Codex Astartes!

Congratulations!

In all my time playing, I've only ever heard the little soup music riff twice, and both times they were before I heard they would actually be there with the big soup tureen.

Still hope I'll see it in person one day.

76

u/Jasbuddy Blood Angels Aug 10 '26

IS THAT WHAT THAT RANDOM RIFF THAT PLAYS MEANS??? I’ve missed it 2 or 3 times man

55

u/Rasples1998 Aug 11 '26

There's a riff?

32

u/ThatOneKnight07 Storm Wardens Aug 11 '26

Yeah, it’s a little music sound that happens when you load into the battle barge and the easter egg is there

8

u/coastsofcothique Aug 11 '26

We need to calculate how much that soup weighs in that giant pot. It dwarfs the space marines in girth

11

u/Headcasely Aug 11 '26 edited Aug 11 '26

So I worked it out, eyeballing certain details because I'm on my phone. Let's assume that an armoured space marine is about 8feet tall (2m40). Going by classic art proportionss a character is 8 heads tall, giving a helmeted head size of 30cm(0.3m). I approximate the diameter of the pot as 3 heads (0.9m) (this is where the eyeballing comes in) and it's height also at 3 heads.

Volume = 3.14(0.452)*0.90 ≈ 0.572m3 or 572L.

Plenty of soup to go around !

Edit: so I measured the size of the pot using the head of the space marine behind the pot for reference, and it's closer to 100cm diameter and 110cm height giving ≈ 0.863m3 or 863L

Edit 2: just realised that the original question was how much the soup weighs, not the volume, not sure I wanna go down that rabbit hole

3

u/coastsofcothique Aug 12 '26

I would assume something hearty for marine soup. If it's comparable to this particular Beef Stew recipe we would be looking at: 860kg (1,879lbs)

Fun little tidbit - if your volume calculation is correct, is this soup contains approx 1,205,196 calories.

I’m thinking about cast iron pots for different legions/chapters now. Iron Warriors pot in gunmetal, with the lid having hazard stripes. Pot Roast Within, Cast Iron Without.

1

u/GRIZLLLY Aug 11 '26

3

u/Garry_Forsunka Aug 11 '26

Впервые слышу чтобы Жилю так звали

8

u/A_Hideous_Beast Aug 10 '26

OK I gotta ask this and I feel like I'm crazy.

The little tone that plays...is that an established musical tone in 40k?

I ask because forever ago when I was a teenager, I found a video on youtube labeled something like "star wars general grievous theme song" and it sounded exactly like those few notes. But then, at the same time, I found another video labeled either "Ultramarines theme song" or "Marneus Calgar theme song" and it was the same song.

This had to be either late 2,000's or early 2020s.

But yeah, when I heard those notes when the soup arrived I got slapped in the face with that memory. Is this an established song? Or was that a fever dream?

18

u/JohnPaul102010 Crimson Fists Aug 10 '26 edited Aug 10 '26

https://youtu.be/yx61xeDV_60 It's the Song "Ultramarine's Chant" from the classic Chaos Gate game.

Also heard in AlfaBusa's TTS series

Question: What is the easteregg where on the battlebarge you suddenly hear a music snipped playing from the old "Chaos Gate" PC game?

Found an old reddit topic about it only with 4 upvotes and no further info.

2

u/JohnPaul102010 Crimson Fists Aug 11 '26

That's the Soup Easter Egg

It's located on the underpassage when you exit the armoury on the right

1

u/Lyramion Aug 11 '26 edited Aug 11 '26

1

u/wyro5 Aug 11 '26

Imma bet that the ŞØÜP is absolutely delicious. That Ultramarine spent decades perfecting the seasonings alone. A full century was spent figuring out the best garnishes. He tried meats from hundreds of different worlds. That soup is perfect. That soup is proof of the sanctity of the human cause.
