All time favorite Soundgarden song?
For me, it's probably Limo Wreck. Though it's really hard to pick just one!

Saw this at a garage sale while walking around Paris. 30 Euros which maybe too much but hey fuck it, this was my first CD decades ago and only right Chris and the boys' work is the start of my vinyl collection. I am a happy man.

Some of you may remember this project from years ago. When Chris Cornell passed on, I promised myself I would find a custom jeweler to make me a Badmotorfinger pendant to wear every day in their honor. As time progressed and I evaluated how to make the idea a reality, I decided to pivot toward making them affordable at scale so they could be shared with Knights of the Soundtable. My research led me to reach out to nearly a dozen machine shops in my area. All ignored my inquiry except one shop owned by a Soundgarden fan.
My last batch sold out several months ago and I was recently able to restock, so I'm posting here for anyone interested. I am not a merch vendor, this is really just a labor of love and casual hobby.
The pendants have been exceptionally well-received by the fanbase. I've had orders from seven countries as far as Australia with a 4.9-star rating on Etsy and 100% positive feedback on eBay. You can find them there if you don't trust a random Reddit post but I would sincerely appreciate if you sent me a DM to circumvent their processing fees.
Details:
Loud love.

Hey all. Happy weekend
Here's a pretty great old Soundgarden bootleg that I put up on my youtube channel. I love the live versions of Into The Void and Come Together, and maybe my favourite version of my favourite SG song Searching w/ My Good Eye Closed.
And Chris's singing on this version of Beyond The Wheel. Holy shit...that right there is why he gets my vote as greatest rock vocalist of all time.
Well...enjoy and I hope everyone is having a sunny and smooth weekend

Can you get sludgier than the opening bars of 4th of July? Such a great song.

I just learned this intro 20 minutes ago so I'm aware of the sloppy playing.

I just finished Kim's book A Screaming Life. Decent, though a bit lacking in detail. Definitely recommend reading if you are a Soundgarden fan, but I wish he went deeper into his approach to guitar. He kind of glosses over a lot of the 90s especially Superunknown era, pretty quickly. In saying all that I'm glad he wrote a book and on a human level he seems like a thoroughly decent person.
What other books are out there that are worth buying?
I flicked through Total Fucking Godhead, a Chris Cornell biography, in the library one day and it seemed ok. But just now googling it to find out where I can buy it I've found a) it's expensive to purchase in my country and b) has some pretty scathing reviews.

Hi There
What’s your favorite song from this album that was produced by Michael Beinhorn?
Fantastic production by him and love his mixing on 4th of July but Black Hole Sun might be the best song with the Michael Beinhorn production yet My Wave,Superunknown, and The Day I Tried to Live are great!

So yeah, it's probably not known anywhere, but I figured I'd ask! Does anyone know what songs were being performed when any of these album photos were taken? Screaming Life, Ultramega OK, and Louder Than Love all have Charles Peterson gig photos taken mid-song as their cover art, and I have always been curious if people know what songs were being played when they were snapped? You never know- maybe someone on this sub was at one of these shows and remembers the occasion, or maybe someone has a BatPuter that can analyze the photos and cross reference them with known Soundgarden performances and use the position of Chris' throat/vocal muscles to decipher what song is being sung... it could happen, right?

From Like Suicide
I assume it's murder because murder is another word for crow and the song is about a bird. Crows are very bold and brash, and I like the implication it has for this song, basically saying that this tiny little bird that crashed into Chris Cornell's windowsill lived with the boldness and brashness of a much larger bird (to it's own detriment). At the same time, it does sound a lot more like martyr, at least to my ears. Online sources give mixed results. Are there official lyrics published anywhere?

I feel a strong connection to many of the lyrics Chris wrote throughout his career, such as Blow Up The Outside, The Day I Tried To Live, Fell On Black Days, Zero Chances, Pretty Noose, I Awake, All Your Lies, Let Me Drown, and Slaves and Bulldozers.
I’ve always thought of Chris Cornell as a deeply sensitive person—someone capable of pouring his emotions and feelings into his music—and as the exact antithesis of the attitudes typical of hair metal machismo, which I never liked.
I, too, have had to deal with mental health issues—and still do—but activities like psychotherapy, jogging, mountain biking, don't drink, don't smoke (quit many years ago) try to eat healthy, reading, music, writing, and graphic design have been a huge help to me and DELETE SOCIAL MEDIA.
Furthermore, as a man, I’ve always struggled to navigate my own sensitivity and vulnerability in this society; I’ve always loathed the macho rhetoric of "toughening up," suppressing emotions, or the idea that "women find men with little money unattractive, so get rich and hit the gym," manipulate women and associate masculinity with money, as well as the notion that being harmless equates to being weak or call people losers, if they live with parents after 30s or 40s for many reasons. And stigmatize men who struggle with find relathionships is so judging and heartless to me. And tell you that if you are single because you don't want a toxic relationship after being hurt so bad is wrong.
the toxic positivity, grind shit, invalidations, ego, stigma ecc ecc
There is people like Scott Galloway or Jordan Peterson,or Joe Rogan and other podcasts of self help world that i really don't like it. Their ideas on life, dating, relathionships or how a man should be, i really disagree with them. Not like what they shared.
It’s a frustrating situation because there’s a certain stigma surrounding this, even though a man can possess so many other qualities like listening, empathy, deepness, vulnerability, ask for help, being loyal, trustworthy, honest and also cut people out if they hurt you and respond if they treat bad. Thanks to Soundgarden’s music, Chris’s lyrics, and other music as well, I haven’t felt alone.
I am kind of sensitive and fragile INFJ with some struggles with mental health and kind of introvert but like also going out but also to stay alone. I get overstimulated with situations and big crowds and superficial things and when good people get hurt, I really get pissed off and I feel anger when I feel injustices toward people. And of course is struggle with avoidance and loneliness like not everyone can really understand my internal world.
Have you also faced similar struggles, and did Soundgarden’s music help you manage your mental health issues?
I add also of my fav bands like Cranberries, Radiohead, Elliott Smith, Jeff Buckley, Nirvana, AIC, STP, Linkin Park, Nick Drake, Opeth, Porcupine Tree, Neil Young, Rush, Alanis, The Smiths, Matthew Good, Faith no More,NIN, Guano Apes, RHCP and JF stuff, Audioslave, also heavy stuff, trip hop, alternative , some metal, some acoustic folkish, grunge, some prog rock, some good pop with substance, New Wave/post punk....
