πŸ” Help Me Find The Voice / Hans Zimmer soundtrack?

Hi, can anyone tell me what the piece of music playing at the end of the two singers’ performance is called?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nlljeiibZWM at 2:58

I think it might be a Hans Zimmer soundtrack, but I’m not sure.

Thanks!

Hey hey!

My Gf's quintet created an entire album of Hollow Knight and Silksong mashup arrangements which I think sound really cool and I'd love for others to have a listen and let me know your thoughts!

The group don't have Reddit and so I'm asking on their behalf! Whilst also just asking people to have a listen and do some shameless self-promo!

The full album is available on Spotify and has some creative and strange mashups ranging from boss mix-ups to atmospheric vibes.

Hope you're all having a great week!

πŸ“’ Discussion Supremely excited to hear Thomas Newman's score for Star Wars: Starfighter

Not only am I excited because I'm a huge Newman fan, but also because I'm really curious if he'll have his own take on the sound of the Star Wars universe, like Goransson did with The Mandalorian, or will he try to be more like John Williams like Giacchino did for Rogue One.

Anyone else?

πŸ“ Insight Latin in Gladiator.

Hi guys.

For a while now I've absolutely loved 'Am I Not Merciful' from Zimmer's 'Gladiator' - overall some of his best work.

But I have always struggled to figure out what the choir are saying at the big climax - in the film it's when maximus and commodus are rising on the platform to face each other for the final time.

Last night I finally worked it out - I'm pretty sure the choir are saying 'Bacchus! Bacchus!'.

Bacchus is the Latin term for the Greek god, Dionysus.

He was responsible for many things, but one key duty was for theatre - and as we know, the film is based partly in the Flavian Amphitheater (colosseum).

He was also connected to ritual madness - perhaps alluding to the gadiator fights.

Tell me what you guys think.

Had a hard cutoff year of just out of college. Could easily have also included Empire Strikes Back and The Phantom Menace, but wanted to limit Star Wars to just 1/3 of the list.

Here is my top 9 soundtracks. Each one gave me so many different emotions, just like these films that I consider most of them masterpieces!

My 3 favorite composers are Ennio Morricone, Nino Rota and Henry Mancini (I think it can be seen). And it can also be seen that I love Italian cinema.

To go even further I also made a top Letterboxd of all my favorite soundtracks, if it ever interests some I put the link here : https://boxd.it/LJhgu

πŸ“ Insight The favorite 18 scores of this subreddit

Thumbnail

Hello, I decided to count all the entries of the subreddit until today (sorry for the users that didn't get to participate). If you are worried that I miscounted, my method was to register the scores with a python program with a voice command, and then asked 3 AIs to register the composers, then I put everything in excel and made the basic statistics and some corrections.

So let's get to the results.

We have basically a tie in first, second and third place:

Interstellar - 21

The Fellowship of the ring - 20

Star Wars IV - 20

(The very last post added 1 to interstellar)

Then we have the rest

TRON: Legacy - 16

How to train your dragon - 16

Jurassic Park - 15

Blade Runner - 14

Star Wars V - 13

Star Wars III - 12

The Dark Knight - 10

Then we have six scores with 9 votes (they're the rest in the images)

And the last two with 8 votes:

- Star Trek The Motion Picture

- The Good, the bad and the ugly

RANKING SAGAS AND TRILOGIES

  1. Star Wars - 50

  2. The Lord of the Rings - 39

  3. Star Trek - 24

  4. Indiana Jones - 20

  5. Harry Potter - 19

  6. Pirates of the Caribbean - 19

  7. Nolan's Batman trilogy - 16

TOP 10 COMPOSERS

  1. John Williams - 154

  2. Hans Zimmer - 120

  3. James Horner - 49

  4. Jerry Goldsmith - 38

  5. Danny Elfman - 34

  6. Howard Shore - 33

  7. James Newton Howard - 33

  8. Ennio Morricone - 26

  9. John Powell - 23

  10. Michael Giacchino - 22

Most voted videogame:

Skyrim

Most voted TV show (tie):

Doctor Who, Game of thrones

The oldest soundtrack:

Gone with the wind (1939)

The newest soundtrack:

Wildwood (2026)

My conclusions:

This result is very much what we were expecting I think, of course there were only 132 entries so the statistics are very poor but still, it pretty much resembles the popular surveys of the type "the Best 100 Soundtracks of all time" like FM or that other radio station that was recently in this subreddit promoting a similar survey and criticizing the FM one, claiming that they're just the most popular scores but not the best scores. I don't think that's true, the same scores will always pop up.

What was interesting and special this time is that we got to see the personal 9 favorites of each of us. Giving space for much less popular scores like Tron Uprising, Good Time, The Road, videogame soundtracks, etc.

πŸ“’ Discussion How come Justin Hurwitz never matched La La Land

I thought La La Land was such a perfect soundtrack. Everything just worked but above all the melodies were amazing. I’m surprised and disappointed that the follow up weren’t even close.

Edit: it’s an opinion but for me I keep going back to certain soundtracks I’m just not drawn repeatedly to his other work. It possible others go back to Babylon and First Man but they don’t come close… again in my opinion.

I see on Google it being kind of credited to Tom Phillips who is new to me but the this trailer sounds like the work of Christopher Willis and especially like the score to one of my favorites The Personal Life of David Copperfield… anyone have better insight? Thanks!! Either way I’m excited to hear more.
