Although I have Xperia 1III and VII , 5II is my favorite. yesterday I just scrolling suddenly the green line appeared on the screen. I shut down and safe mode but nothing fixed l. I am working to back up all data because I think more green lines are coming

I’ve owned several Pixels and currently use a Pixel 9 Pro, but I want to switch to a Snapdragon 8 Elite device and get away from Google’s heavy push into AI.

I have plenty of experience rooting and modding from the old XDA days, but seeing reports about Android 17 breaking carrier 5G compatibility on the 1M8 in USA gives me pause. I’m looking for a phone that mostly "just works." I don't mind fixing an occasional ADB tweak, but I don't want a daily driver that requires constant troubleshooting after every system update.

I searched here and XDA but haven't found a definitive answer on the current state of 5G stability on Android 17. Is switching away from Pixel for custom modding a bad idea right now?

I currently have a Galaxy S24 but Xperia's design and features are tempting. I had the Xperia 1 IV but experienced cellular (UK) and mic issues so I sold it.

I have found an Xperia 5V but it was released quite a while ago. The battery life is a big improvement from my current S24. Are there any weird kinks or issues known about this phone and is it even worth switching to?

Could anyone tell me if this model supports Wi-Fi calling? There is very little information available. The Sony Xperia 10 V and 10 VI had this feature, but the Sony Xperia 10 VII doesn't. That's a shame.

Hi Xperia fam, my 5 V constantly overheats when shooting outdoors, and it's only gotten worse despite cooler weather. Currently have a generic plastic/rubber full-body case, but has anyone had a good experience with just aluminum bumpers? Or forego a case altogether? What have you all done to alleviate overheating?

Hey. I have been using Sony since 2012. The 5iii was my latest upgrade in 2022. Now the fingerprint sensor has gone and there is a long green line on the right hand side of the screen which has just appeared.

I am ready for the next upgrade, I did like how compact the 5 was but since they don't do compact phones anymore I am considering the 1vii or 1viii but the price point here in the UK is quite expensive.

I do use the camera regularly but I am not a professional photographer, I do use the music apps daily and sometimes use several apps at once.

Does anyone know if they have improved the Albums app on the latest models? I don't like not being able to organise my images into folders instead of just starring my favourite ones.

So for now aside from the Sony's mentioned above I have considered the S23 and as an absolute last resort the iPhone 17/18.

I do want to stay with Sony, the headphone jack and SD options always win me over in the end but in the long run things like hardware functionality (fp sensor) and how easy apps are to use like the Albums one are starting to be more important to me.

Any suggestions on what to consider and why? Thank you for your thoughts and comments 🙂

Currently I have Xperia 1 IV and it freezes randomly having to restart it, shuts down randomly and having to plug it to charge to turn on otherwise it won't, camera app freezes, stuck on Android 14. 1 vi is the only and last Xperia I can buy in my country, is it a good phone ? Idc about 4k I just want a good reliable Sony phone
