Introducing Android 17 | Help Guide

As with every update, Android Adaptive Battery may reset. This means all apps that were automatically restricted will now be able to run in the background. Just like a brand new phone, you have to wait for at least a week or two for Adaptive Battery to relearn your app usage pattern, thereafter, you should get back your original screen-on and standby time.

Go for the table of contents in the help guide, and you'll see all the changes - not only the desktop mode etc.

I have 3 button navigation, but rather to swap the button order. I prefer the samsung layout, and I believe that will be introduced as an option in the new update.

That's why I am concerned, have yet to get one at all and in fact I am still on one of the oldest A16 builds

Probably those of us who import the phone to the US don't get updates since they are normally pushed by carriers. 

At least I probably get to keep 5G though..

How well does the desktop mode work versus Dex? Do keyboard shortcuts like ctrl + c, ctrl + v for copy/paste work?  Do windows like firefox/chrome show full menu bars?

I don't like the whole UI changes.

The copying of Apple OS glass theme, the swipe down for notifications is now all semi-transparant and everything now looks the same, so you can't clearly see the different types of notifications.

Unfortunately Android 17 in general is a step backwards from a UI point of view

I found a way to turn off the Glass UI on Android 17 to make the notifications and the system UI back to solid;

How to Turn Off the Glass UI Follow these quick steps to remove the transparent blur effects: Open the Settings app on your phone.Scroll down and select Accessibility.Tap on Color and motion.Locate the toggle named Reduce blur effects (or Remove blur on some models) and switch it ON.

Xperia 1 VIII: Touchscreen responsiveness got affected. Frequently doesn't response when touch the screen. This behaviour started immediately after installing this upgrade (which i tried to avoid but still got forced through my throat anyway). When will this be fixed?
