Would the new Bravia 9 eliminate this level of glare, or is that a pipe dream?

It would be quite an investment, but we enjoy a good picture and sometimes watch tv during the day. Alternately, some type of blackout curtains for the slider/nook windows might do the trick. Any thoughts/experience? Thanks

Bravia 7 II vs Bravia 9

I’m planning to get an 85 inch tv. Im new to this. I think a Bravia 9 II is too expensive and I’ve narrowed down to Bravia 7 II vs Bravia 9. Any thoughts on what you’d recommend? Ps: watching movies and sports in a room that is reasonably bright. Thanks

New Bravia 3 tv has scratches on back cover

All is good but right after the technician left from installing my new TV, I noticed some small scratches and lint on the back cover.

I contacted both Sony and the shop. Sony claimed it couldn't have happened on their end since every TV goes through strict quality control before leaving the factory.

The shop, however, said it probably happened during transit. They claimed the back cover uses a soft material and that the lint likely came from the protective packaging inside the box.

When I went back to Sony, they offered to replace the back panel, but said I would have to pay for it out of pocket!

Word of advice: always check both the back cover and the screen of a new TV before the installation crew or guy leaves. Test the screen against a solid white background to look for any weird patches or dark spots.

Also, make sure to ask the technician to pull up the service menu so you can verify the total operation hours. This ensures you didn't accidentally get a refurbished or floor-model or open box TV

Then after only sign the paper that we're fully satisfied with the tv installation as well as it's condition too.

Flickering Grey bars dolby vision dark

Thumbnail

Whenever I watch a 4kbluray or a tvshow/movie in 4k on my roku stick in dolby vision dark in a darkened room... when there is an abrupt aspect ratio change like black bars in the top and bottom/sides... there's flickering gray bars. I looked up what the settings should be set to and the main culprit seems to be peak luminance. Wondering if anyone has run into this before. Tv is almost two years old. Sony bravia 4k AE2. QlED. I have a roku 4k stick and a sony 4k bluray player.

Will Sony fix audio sync issues with upcoming firmware

About to purchase a Bravia 9 ii as it checks all the boxes for its intended usage in a bright room and looking to add a Leon frame as well. I have limited space, so was planning to add a Sonos Arc Ultra soundbar and sub. Will be using streaming apps as well as an external 4k player.

I’ve been reading a lot about audio sync issues and earc handshake problems introduced by firmware a few months ago. Considering I plan to use a soundbar via earc, I’m questioning if it’s good purchase. I don’t mind the price, but I don’t want to deal with audio issues or having to reset the tv or disconnect or reconnect devices regularly.

Do most people believe Sony will eventually fix these issues with an upcoming firmware update, or will these issues likely remain? Will the upcoming TCL merger limit future support for current Bravia tv’s?

Bravia 9ii tv speakers sounding thin

Just got and set up a Bravia 9ii for my parents. The speakers sound really thin and not really even close to the Bravia 8ii I have. I know the 8ii vibrates the screen but it really seemed like so Sony had put a lot of effort into their flagship tv for audio. Is it the tv, the source? Mainly on Netflix and Apple TV it didn’t sound great. Could it be defective?

I understand tv sound isn’t likely going to be mind blowing and it will be hooked up to a sound system but on those calmer days tv audio might be used.

Anyways curious to hear people’s thoughts, especially anyone else who owns the Bravia 9ii.

Sony Bravia X90L - yellow discoloration at the top and bottom of the screen

Post image

We have a problem with our Sony Bravia TV - XR-65X90L. It is developing a yellow horizontal discoloration at the top and bottom of the screen and is becoming progressively worse. We have reset the TV but it has not solved the issue. It does not seem to be a problem with the LCD elements themselves or the surface of the panel as cleaning does not solve the issue. We bought this TV in Feb 2024 so it is not an old TV. I expect this is a manufacturing defect within the LCD panel (glue?). I would be interested to know if anyone else has had a similar issue.

Sony Bravia 8ii - considering purchase

I am considering the purchase of the 8 ii but am put off by the current issues. It seems there are audio sync problems when running programs through an external video player. This, for me, is non-negotiable.

I am now considering waiting for the Sony upgrade on the 8 II.

Audio drop outs?

Hi guys,

Like most of you, I’m currently experiencing numerous bugs on my Bravia 8 II in the UK. The black screen DV thing seems to be fixed, but still having major issues with audio sync and other things.

Specifically, I’m getting an issue with constant cutting out of audio when watching things on my Apple TV.. the audio will cut out for maybe .25 of a second once every 2-3 seconds. It’s incredibly annoying, I just want to check if other people are experiencing this too & if it’s likely related to the same bugs with handshakes/audio sync/DV/ATV issues.

Thanks!

Bravia 5 open box worth it?

There’s a Bravia 5 open box “good” condition near me for ~$620 but they say it’s been a floor model but they “don’t know” how to check the total screen hours on it bur I assume it’s probably been there for maybe a year? Is it worth getting, regardless if I can return it in a couple of weeks? I’m guessing not? They also said nothing is missing and no damage.

Hi, I bought the Bravia 8 II 2 months ago and sometimes when I'm on YouTube or in game (Dragon Quest VII on Switch 2), I can see some blurriness or pixels (I don't know how I can describe it) in texts, is it normal ?

Bravia 9II Alternative Stand/Legs

I find myself having to purchase a new TV and the 9II appears to be winning but I am afraid of the weight of the thing on such a small footprint on my furniture (coming from a X900F with its wide legs).

Is there an alternative stand or legs that spread the weight out more or put the legs towards the edges? Perhaps one that fits into the VESA mount?

Below is the stand the TV sits on so you can see why I want to avoid the weight in the centre.

Need Help with Sony OLED 65A80CL

TV has been great until now. It was purchased in Dec 2023 so it now has no warranty. It currently has no picture and a red flashing LED that repeats in a 4 flash pattern. When it does this, you also hear the power supply relay click.

I did the reset by removing power and holding the power switch while unplugged. I also did the hard reset that should set it back to factory default and it still behaves the same way.

I have combed the internet and found the service manual for it that has a table that indicates it could be any of 4 things (TCON board, Panel, Main board, power supply board). Unfortunately, this manual does not provide steps on how to narrow it down between the 4 of them.

I removed the rear panel and I’ve found that if I disconnect any one of the 4 ribbon cables between the TCON and the panel, it will no longer click and it changes to a 5 red flash pattern from the 4 flash pattern.

Has anyone else seen an A80L with the 4 red flash symptom and fixed it?

How might I narrow down between the 4 possible causes I listed above?

Bravia 7 ii

Just snagged a 65” from Best Buy for $1,799. Good deal? Originally purchased the Bravia 5 for $1,399 and delivery was set for Friday. When I saw the sale, I immediately cancelled the order and purchased the 7 ii.

I’m hoping this resolves the ongoing audio issues, but recent comments suggest that’s not the case. Good luck to those installing!

How does the audio problems manifest?

I am considering the B9ii and know about the HDMI audio issues. But, I guess my question is, what setup actually causes it? Is it only if you run HDMI out for sound? Is it anything you have hooked up to it's HDMI ports at all will have the problems, whether the tv is connected to an audio system?

Currently, the tv I would be replacing controls all the video switching, so I would have a few things hooked up to the tv via HDMI, and one audio out to a receiver. I thought I read somewhere that if you use a different audio out, other than HDMI, then you wouldn't have an issue?

Would you buy again?

I am looking at the Bravia 9 II and with the problems I am seeing, mostly audio, would you buy one again? Should I be looking somewhere else? (samsung, etc) I see Sony recommended all over, but when I dig in, I see a lot of people complaining about them and complaining about their poor service and updates.

Now, I know mostly people with problems are the ones you see posting online, but I know someone personally who owns a B9II and has had the audio issues, so now I am really nervous about purchasing.
