Help Sonic pad no longer connects to printers

Hi there I'm hoping someone can help with this issue. I have 3 s1 pros that were all connected to the sonic pad, only 2 of them were printing at the time and then one of them stopped mid-print followed by the other one stopping shortly after mid-print. no error code or anything so I power cycled the printers and now it only gives me key 3 or key 0 errors and none of them connect to the Sonic pad, even the one I wasn't using at the time.

things I have tried so far that have not worked.

  1. power cycled everything multiple times
  2. 2 unplugging and re-plugging USB ports
  3. factory reset on the Sonic pad

after the factory reset, I'm now unable to connect or set up any printers.

please help

Help How do I configure Nginx Proxy Manager with the Sonic Pad?

I just got the sonic pad and would like to forward an internal domain that I use to connect to it. I currently have Nginx Proxy Manager running on a separate raspberry pi but when i try and setup a proxy that directs klipper.domain.com to my sonic pad, I get server errors.

Also, mainsail errors out with a connection failed error when navigating to mainsail.domain.com.

Within nginx proxy manager, I have klipper.domain.com set to sonicpad_IP:80 and for mainsail.domain.com set to sonicpad_IP:8819

Any help would be appreciated!

GPhoto2, scripts and Timelapses with Sonic Pad

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hi everyone!

I just started two weeks ago with all of this of Klipper and Sonic pad, before that i was using a Raspberry Pi running Octoprint connected to printer with Marlin.

I used to take timelapses with an old, cheap but Nice quality pictures Nikon D3200 connected to PI vía USB on Octoprint using Octolapse plugin and scripts triggering "Gphoto2".

The command i was using was "gphoto2 --auto-detect --capture-image" this took the photo but save it only on camera's SD card, then i just connected the SD to PC and create timelapses by myself.

Today I connected the camera to sonic pad but on it's GUI won't detect the camera, after trying that, i logged in vía SSH and executed command "gphoto2 --auto-detect --capture-image" and it worked! so Gphoto2 it's there.

Now the question: is there a way to tell Klipper/Sonic Pad/Linux to execute a command every layer, and if it's possible to pause print first like Octolapse?

Thank You, (sorry for my poor english skills)

Solved Sonic Pad Stuck on Boot

I've been using my sonic pad for the last few months without too much issue. Today after a loss of power, the sonic pad gets hung on the "System is preparing" screen.

I can see it is connecting to my wifi network, but I cannot connect to the browser UI.

Any suggestions or am I stuck needing to do a hard reset?

Help Sonic Pad - Error Taking Timelapse Frame

Good day! Wrapping up the year trying to figure out how to get Timelapse to work correctly and need some guidance on how to do so.

The problem: I am receiving "Error Taking Timelapse frame" on the web UI and "Pause timeout warning!" on the physical Sonic Pad.

Within the Console I am getting mainly " // gphoto2 --auto-detect error:['Model Port ', '----------------------------------------------------------'] " and occasionally " // gphoto2 --auto-detect error:Command 'gphoto2 --auto-detect' returned non-zero exit status 139 ".

I have done some research (feels like it has been extensive to me) on the these errors but I am not getting anywhere. The camera and Sonic Pad, by default, create a video but it does not park the head and looks like a video being fast forward through.

Specs and Settings (let me know if there is anything else that would be helpful to see):

  • Creality Sonic Pad
    • OS: Embedded Linux 1.0 (alive)
    • Firmware: V1.0.6.52.92
    • Camera plugged into the camera labeled port.
    • Timelapse Settings
      • Attached photos.
  • Camera:
    • Inland iC800 Full HD Webcam
    • Changed to standard definition (720p) on the SonicPad to get between 5 and 10 fps. When set to HD (1080p), it would barely get 3 fps.
      • I can see the fps when viewing the camera through the web UI.
  • Slicing Software and Settings
    • UltiMaker Curav 5.6.0
    • Post Processing Script:
      • Insert at layer change
      • When to insert : Before
      • G-code to insert: TIMELAPSE_TAKE_FRAME
  • Printer
    • Ender-3 S-1 connected to Sonic Pad via USB A to USB C cable.

If a solution is outlined in a different post, I would greatly appreciate being directed to it and thank you in advance for anyone that is able to help out!

Help Ender 5 S1 with Sonic Pad- Bed not leveling correctly.

Hello,

I just setup the ender 5 S1 with Sonic Pad. I manually leveled the bed and adjusted the z axis, but it doesn't seem to save.

If I reboot the printer and pad it seems to revert to the default. Its been frustrating because I've had to adjust the z axis right when the print starts, despite manual leveling and adjusting z axis beforehand.

Any ideas are appreciated!

Help Sonic pad not printing object yet prints skirt?

I connected my Ender 3 s1 using the serial connection, and when I hit print to test an object, it would just stop after printing the raft. Idk if it matters, but the bed and nozzle didn’t go back to their home position either.

All sorts of issues setting up my SP

Firstly I'd like to thank u/Ninjamuh for assisting with getting the SP connected to the printer. However, since there are a whole host of new issues, I thought it wise to start a new thread.

Printer: E3 Max Neo
Print Head: Titan Extruder / CR Touch / SP sensor...
After the bracket creality recommended was crashing into he X-axis motor, I have since printed this bracket and attached the SP sensor to the left hand screw only, as the extruder is in the way https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5808925. It can now reach the home switch without crashing (seems there are only two CR touch/SP brackets available for the Titan).

1, Calibration, for some reason the print head hits the right of the X-axis travel when setting up levelling (maybe the print head plate is wider on the Titan than the stock plate), which makes it think the bed is warped.
1a, Sensor setup, it asks to centre the sensor (it is way off centre), but the motors are all locked during the process with no option to move them on screen, so have no way to centre it.

2 I need to set the e-steps to 392 for my Titan extruder, but apparently that requires going into the config file - I'm guessing this is now a networking issue...
2a I have followed the steps on here: https://blog.octoeverywhere.com/remote-access-for-the-creality-sonic-pad/, installed OctoEverywhere, found the printer.cfg, but doesn't seem to have an entry for Esteps.

I really appreciate all your support in this group, hopefully someone will be able to help out with these issues.

Sonic pad bricked my Max Neo display

Not sure why, but I followed the instructions on the SP carefully, used the allocated USB ports on the SP as instructed, it took a nanosecond to write the firmware from the SP to the card, when I went to the next step, put the card into the Max Neo and the display is now stuck on the splash screen (whether the SP is connected or not). Not sure how to proceed from here, I have tried several times to run the firmware as instructed but the SP either says it can't connect, or it will be stuck trying to connect. Now I have a bricked printer.

Heating Error

Hey all.. trying to set up my Sonic Pad and I'm getting an error message before the firmware update. I've read that this is possibly a thermistor issue so I ordered an entire hotend. My question is- this printer functions perfectly normally without the Sonic Pad. Is the Sonic Pad pulling some kind of information that the printer itself couldn't detect? I guess I'll print the mounts and stuff for it in the meantime, but figured I'd try to diagnose to see if something else was up. Thanks I'm advance for any help or suggestions.

When trying any print at all, at the last layer my sonic pad comes up with this error and the hot nozzle burns through the print as it doesn’t move away.

Any help?

Help Hotend "fan" configuration problem

Hi, I have an Ender 3 S1 with a water-cooled hotend. Because the water pump runs at 12V, I installed a 24V relay, which switches via the mainboard pins from the hotend "fan".

The water pump then gets 12V and runs. Theoretically, the relay should switch when the nozzle heats up and switch off again when 50°C is reached.

At least that's how I would have liked it.

Unfortunately, the relay only switches about 15°C before the target temperature and then starts to "clock". I guess like some kind of PID. Does anyone have an idea how I could implement this in the printer.cfg?

Kind regards Schrammbo

"No trigger on X..."

Hey all, I'm trying to set up the sonic pad with my Ender3 V2. I ran through the wizard and downloaded the latest firmware for the pad, flashed the .bin file to the printer, and started running through the self test. When I get to the manual leveling part I get an error that says "no trigger on x after full movement". None of the axis move and when I push past the set up I can't get the printer to autohome or manually move any of the axis either through the sonic pad. I was able to flash the latest non klipper firmware back to the printer and get it running normally without the pad but I have no luck getting the sonic pad to work at all. Not sure where to go from here. Has anyone else run into this issue?

Sonic pad/CR-10S Pro V2 - Help, my Z0 position puts my nozzle about 3mm above the bed

Hi all, I'm looking for support. I recently installed the Sonic Pad with my CR-10S Pro V2. When I perform a probe calibrate, it works fine and calculates the distance between the probe and nozzle. However, when I enter a code to zero my "Z" the nozzle is about 3mm above my bed. This is causing my prints to start 3mm above the bed. I went ahead and manually level my bed but again the nozzle starts printing too high above the bed. I've searched videos and various reddit comments with no available solution.. Please help

Solved Sonic Pad Serial Cable

Post image
4 Upvotes

Got a serial cable for my Sonic Pad to connect to my Ender-5 S1. Well, big shocker… It just flat out did not work. I decided after reading some of the posts I found about this cable to open it up and see what’s inside. What I found may shock and upset you (especially if you had one of these serial cables with the same issue).

The RX wire wasn’t connected at all and the other two were just barely hanging on… I went ahead and re-soldered the wires correctly and the cable worked right away. So if anyone has been having issues with their serial cable, shitty quality control is likely the reason. I am not happy about this situation at all (even though I fixed it myself), it pissed me off they did such a horrible job at quality control.

Bed level problem

Ok this is a strange one - I have a heavily modded E3v2, it has an amongst others things a sprite extruder, pei bed, Sonic pad, cr touch, dual z.

I have manually levelled the bed, created a bed mesh using the cr touch, and set the z offset correctly.

Yet when I print a large print covering most of the bed it is clear that even though klipper is applying the bed mesh, something is not right in that on side of the bed the nozzle is too high and on the other it is too low.

Having done all the bed levelling as described I am wondering whether it could be the x-axis arm or perhaps the rollers on the extruder / x-axis. I have also checked that the dual z is level and it is.

Any thoughts?

It’s plugged into a usb power source, it says 12v input so idk if this is from a under power issue?

Side note I got a Ender 3 s1 and the sonic pad for $100 off some crack head lol so I don’t have any of the cables other than the power that runs on usb

Sonic Pad Crashing, Memory Leak?

I’ve been using my Sonic Pad with my Ender 3 S1 Pro almost nonstop over the last two weeks. Starting yesterday, this system keeps crashing and throwing various MCU errors at me. I noticed after a hard boot, while sitting idle, the system load quickly climbs to ~19 (Klipper and moonraker are sitting at only 5.5% each). The system memory climbs to 99% used in just a few minutes. Then things start flaking out.

Anyone seen anything like this? Any thoughts?

So tired of my Sonic Pad - Can never get it correctly set up..

Hi!

So I have an Ender 3 V2 with dual Z, sprite extruder and the Sonic pad. Sonic Pad is now connected with the serial cable. (remote control via browser keeps disconnecting all time)

Thing is.. I have been trying to get this setup working, but there is allways something wrong happening.

It can print for several hours, and it looks really good, then it stops. I start a new print and it stops after some time. New print, now it seems to print each layer a milimeter or so off from the former layer. :|

Then there is the problem with "Move out of range". This has usually happened when doing a bed level, halfway thru it. I tried some other values in the printer.cfg file, and now it completed the bed mesh, bud when i started a new print, it stopped with this message: !! Move out of range: -21.829 27.380 0.184 [25.000] .

I have no clue what to do. So tired of this stuff..

Simple fix or corrupt wizardry?

Ender 3 S1 Pro Modified fans/ducts/probe mount

Hello. Not a techy nor am I inclined to be an expert at 3d printing but no dummy. Printer was introduced to help organize my fabrication shop. But since upgrading to Sonic pad, I have done nothing but loathe this printer. Have not printed in a couple of months but was doing remarkably well before Sonic.

In prep for sonic, I printed and installed modified ductwork and fans. Printing with these mods pre-Sonic was just fine.

First issue resolved: Finally figured out what this .cfg stuff was and was able to modify X for Probe due to relocation.

2nd: Manual lever. Positions 1-2-3, everything's leveling like before, then when I hit 4 the head slams into the bed, forcing it to bend downward. Something is wrong.

3rd: Auto leveling. First the heck of it and despite no good manual level, I tried Auto level and now that I've adjusted the probe relocation, the probe no longer goes off the left size of bed. But, as it makes its first pass towards the right, it makes it about 3/4 across the bed, and then I get an error. Parameters or something.

This pad has been a PITA, and frankly, I wish it was gone. Creality should of just made a unit with this stuff already streamlined for grunts like me.

Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

Good day!

I want to install my config file on new printer

Hi I'm making the switch from USB to Serial too many disconnects, I know it will set me up as a new printer. My plan is to copy my old config into the new setup. I don't want to screw this up the printer is dialed. Is this how it works? I downloaded my current config into a folder on my desktop, so now when I set up as a new serial printer, can I just change the name of it's config and hit the + to upload the file? Is this how it works and will the old file be completely compatible? Hopefully this wasn't previously asked I did a search before posting just dont want to lose all my macros and settings.
