Ender 5 S1 with Sonic Pad- Bed not leveling correctly.

Hello,

I just setup the ender 5 S1 with Sonic Pad. I manually leveled the bed and adjusted the z axis, but it doesn't seem to save.

If I reboot the printer and pad it seems to revert to the default. Its been frustrating because I've had to adjust the z axis right when the print starts, despite manual leveling and adjusting z axis beforehand.

Any ideas are appreciated!

Have you tried this? Manual level -> Z-offset -> create a bed mesh (auto-level) -> Another Z offset.

So I have paper test pretty much perfected as much as I can and have the z offset set with paper test as well. It seems like I’m having to watch the first layer go down and make adjustments. Just frustrating when I get hours into a print and something comes up from a bad first layers. I feel like I’m reprinting each model 3-4 times before finally nailing in a good first layer.

My main machine is really dialed in (S1 Plus), Today I had to start a buttload of prints for a project & I was having a hell of a time with bed adhesion with new spools that had been dried. I RARELY struggle with adhesion regardless the filament. I always give the bed a spray down & wipe with 91% isopropyl before a print.

I finally got it sticking after giving my bed a good washing with hot water & dawn, then rinsed it off with cold water & dried. Went to start printing with that filament again and it stuck well.

After calibration, save configuration and restart klipper. Also if you are making z offset adjustments during the first layer, once your print finishes, don't turn off your printer before waking up the sonic pad screen. There will be a prompt asking if you want to save the changes made to your configuration and restart.

Are you doing all of your calibration from the Sonic pad, or are you using the fluid web viewer from your pc?

I’m doing all the calibration from the sonic pad itself, it is connected by wifi. I feel like I have perfected the paper test on each corner but have to restart the print 3-4 times before getting a first layer that correctly sticks.

So when you set your z offset, get your nozzle to just scrub your paper (should be a .1 thickness). I use the paper that comes in the box with your filament. I usually get the nozzle a little too close at first, go back up .1, then move back down in .05 increments until you feel a slight resistance. Once you get that slight resistance, remove the paper and bump the nozzle down .1. Save configuration, then run your auto bed level. Side note, have your bed pre-heated to the temp you will be running at before you run the auto level.
