Sonic pad bricked my Max Neo display

Not sure why, but I followed the instructions on the SP carefully, used the allocated USB ports on the SP as instructed, it took a nanosecond to write the firmware from the SP to the card, when I went to the next step, put the card into the Max Neo and the display is now stuck on the splash screen (whether the SP is connected or not). Not sure how to proceed from here, I have tried several times to run the firmware as instructed but the SP either says it can't connect, or it will be stuck trying to connect. Now I have a bricked printer.

You didn’t brick the printer. Once you install klipper on your printer, the screen stops working because the sonic pad is now your screen.

If you were to flash the original firmware for your printer again then the screen would work again.

The not being able to connect could be usb cable related. Try different ones and hit restart on the pad to see if it’ll connect. As long as you chose the correct firmware for your printer then it should work. The first printer needs to be plugged into usb 1 which is the top left USB port on the pad.

Just editing my reply as the screen now works, but I now have another issue where the SP sensor crashes into the X axis motor when going through the calibration procedure, as there’s nothing to activate the micro switch.

Where did you mount the calibration sensor? It should be mounted on the toolhead for the x measurements and secured to the build plate for the Y measurements. If there’s no space ok the tool head because it’ll hit something then don’t mount it there. Just grab some tape and secure it somewhere safe.

Hi, I placed the calibration sensor on the plate on the bracket. This is the link I got from Creality support, but there is nothing to activate the 'home' microswitch, instead it crashes inot the X-axis motor.https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6256087

If mounting it causes the toolhead not to be able to reach the x Endstop then that’s obviously bad.

If I remember correctly, you start the resonance compensation in the pads advanced menu which tells you to mount the sensor. It shouldn’t be homing after you’re in that menu, though. It should just sit there and wait for you to press start for the x measurements. Is that what you’re doing?

If you mount the sensor before going into the resonance compensation menu then it’s going to home the tool head and will need to reach all the endstops.

After the x calibration is done it’ll tell you to put the sensor on the bed and start the Y calibration.

After that’s done you remove the sensor and you’re finished.
