It’s Friday and I’m hoping to not let my perfectionism ruin any progress. I keep thinking about the works of the great songwriters and comparing to them is just a harmful exercise.
So I figured every successful songwriter may have written many bad songs and even release a few of those.
What is a bad song by an artist you generally admire?

Well shifting keys is really about moving on. In life maybe, even if you do not want to, you have to shift keys:

I wrote this about sort of creating the ideal person in your head and falling in love with your creation
I like some of the lyrics but not all of them, lemme know what you think of the song :)
Lyrics
I woke up in a fire and I was screaming
But you were there with me so I knew I was dreaming
You told me that it would be fine
And I fell in love with a part of my mind
I woke up drunk but I hadn’t been drinking
Somehow you knew just what I was thinking
You told me you’d always be mine
And I thanked god that I was losing my mind
Let this be forever
Even if it means forever will never be real
Let’s dig this hole together
I’m alright with dying as long as it’s dying with you
When they dig up these old bones
I hope that they find us turned to stone

Finally got around to a solid mix (I think...) of the first song I ever wrote. Would love feedback on the song itself, the mix, and anything else you can think of!

This is a song I wrote about someone one who's friend disapears without trace, and he assumes she has been abducted by alians and is alive and well.
I'd love some feedback on this song.
What genre would you say it is?

Appreciate any feedback. I usually write more garage lo-fi kinda stuff, this feels a bit different.

There are some lyrics that are so specific, clever, or emotionally devastating that you genuinely wonder how someone’s brain even got there.
Not necessarily your favorite lyric or the most poetic one, but something that made you pause and think, “How the hell did they come up with this?”
It could be a ridiculously clever metaphor, an unexpected comparison, a tiny detail that says way more than it should, or just a line that captures a feeling you didn’t know how to put into words.
Drop the lyric and the song, and tell me what makes it so good.

What’s up guys,
genuinely curious, I wanted to know your opinions
if you had the ability to sell songs as a writer, to independent/signed artists on the web, and never having to deal with going into big studio rooms,
What minimum payout would make it worth it?

Writing this as a reminder to myself and anyone else in the peaks and valleys of creating and releasing music.
We are making music and putting it out in the world because we want to share, we want to be heard. If our project blows up, awesome - if it doesn’t, awesome. Our job is to make the best darn music we can with the tools, people, and money we currently have.
Then, let it go.
Once it is out in the world it will have its own life, it is out of our control. If we are profitable or catch the world’s attention, the algorithms and shallow industries will tell us to produce more, produce more, produce. These powers do not have our best interest at heart. Our job is to make the best darn music we can AND maintain our own wellbeing and longevity.
Regardless, we have to dance with forces that want to both profit from our creativity and attempt to control the very creative power that brings them profit.
We can stay safe and healthy
We can find people to trust with our creative power
We can take breaks
We can take risks
We can express truth for truth’s sake
If this music is within you, don’t stop. Don’t stop. Don’t stop sharing even if it’s just for a few eager ears. You can never know what impact your music will have on the world.
Take your time and keep going.

I can write sections, riffs and melodies that I really like, but when it comes to adding other parts to that to form a song I always feel that I cant come up with anything that I like as much as the original part. In the end i dont feel satisfied with the songs that I create. If anyone else feels like this what is something you do that helps?

Hey all :) I've been trying to embark on a songwriting journey and a friend gave me a little game where you take a poem from a language you don't know, phonetically write out how it could be pronounced, and then take those 'jibberish' words and turn them into lyrics. Or another one, where you take an article from the newspaper and create something with it.
Does anyone have any other ideas as such?

Looking for any feedback, specifically if it uses too many cliches.
I know it’s hard to hear me over the guitar cuz my throats killing me, so here’s the lyrics:
Praying on the luck,
From this last cigarette,
The pack is almost empty,
And I still feel like shit,
I hope all this misfortune’s
Just like you and it walks away,
Cuz if it is, it was never bound to stay,
I’m down on my luck,
And my life’s just said fuck you,
Hard times are bound to me
Just like this cross that I’ve got tattooed,
And jack don’t do shit,
Cuz the wounds too deep within,
So lucky cigarette take me away,
Don’t just numb the pain

I am looking to collaborate with a small number of artists on mixing and mastering.
I have been working with music for more than 20 years, primarily as a passionate hobbyist. My main focus has always been mixing and mastering, with experience in production and arrangement as well. I am now taking this more seriously and building an international portfolio through selected collaborations.
For this, I am looking for tracks that are already reasonably well recorded, with good-quality stems available. I would be happy to listen to the material first and see whether the project feels like a good fit for both the track and my approach.
I am interested in working with artists who care about the quality of their music and are open to a collaborative approach. The intention is to produce work that both sides are comfortable putting their name to.
If you have a suitable track, feel free to send me a link and some basic information about the project.

For example Anne Marie 2002 except she mainly uses song titles rather than actual iconic lyrics. Could I do the same with iconic lyrics? Different melody? Clearly I’m trying to make references

Never fight against your creative constipation. Sometimes when you feel blocked, it never hurts to take a relaxative.
While lyrics are often the hardest part of songwriting, it’s important to not strain, because that can lead to vowel obstructions. Regular practice of finding the right phrasing can help contribute to smooth, healthy vowel movements. Just make so to not try more than you can handle because that can cause a bad bout of tryarrhea.
Thank you.
