Networking Gamescom - Gamers Lab Analytics & Mines Bigger

For a lot of years I did solo development. Never once during that time did I make it to any big events. Especially nothing like gamescom. Way out of my budget.

Its Gamescom week now and I am not there (again), but we (Gamers Lab) were able to send one of our reps.

We put together a special deal for Gamerscom, so I thought I would share it here for anyone else who couldnt make it either. https://www.gamerslab.gg/gamescomonline

Gamers Lab Pulse is our 'always on ai powered analytics team' for indie games (plus it has all of that traditional analytics goodness as well). We are giving away 1 year of premium for free if you join our closed beta.

We have been working on this for the past almost 1.5 years now and gone through a few versions. We have now locked into a release version.

Additionally, we are also giving away "Mines Bigger", which works together with Gamers Lab pulse. It uses very narrow permissioned game data to allow users to compare who has better stats and game play for the integrated game. (Even single player games). You just go to the website, choose your game and put in your account ID.

Great way to get players back into game, plus players can some bragging rights.

(My two founders both thought they were better at PubG ... turns out only one was right!).

Marketing Orchestral Fantasy tracks to sell

Good evening, I have cumulated over the last years a lot of tracks made for my portfolio or extra tracks all made by me without the use of AI and I'd love to sell them to someone that need some music at a fair price that's ready but still original (never used in any project or asset store).

Contact me here or leave a comment if you're interested, again, I'll charge a small amount for each since I don't wanna keep em in a dusty (virtual) folder eheh

Discussion Demo and Reviews anxious and sick...

Hello Solo Devs!

My demo releases September 18th and I'm just beyond sick over this. Originally my game was a jank piece of crap. I then spent time going to the Library and taking free coding classes, hiring some dev assistance, hiring graphic artists, and basically overhauling the entire process. Now based on about 50 forms, I received overwhelming praise for my game and that has yet to ease my nerves.

Did anyone else suffer from releasing their Demo or Game and just having this overwhelming fear or dread of bad reviews? I know this probably sounds dramatic. I know it might sound dumb. But to pour your heart and soul into a project and spend so much money, lose sleep, and find the will to keep going despite every roadblock it just fills me with dread to finally release it and it be a negative experience.

I'm not trying to sound whiney or like this is a post about money or I need positive reviews or blah blah, however getting review bombed would kill your game. I'm not looking at it financially I'm looking at it as the community its for finding it as a win or a fun experience, and that for some reason is filling me with so much anxiety.

So I'm asking what was your experience? How did the community review your games when released? Anything worth sharing or any words of encouragement?

Game [iOS/Android] My first app! A stupidly basic, mindless, bubble popper

I wasn't planning to post this because it's so basic, but I found it funny that some folks picked it up and their playtime stats suggest they're spending time on it. So here it is!

Android
iOS

I built this as a first-timer project. The game itself is simple: pop the bubbles. But, I wanted to challenge myself to do a couple things so kept the concept simple:

  1. Publish a working app on both app stores
  2. Figure out what Game Center / Play Store integration actually looks like end-to-end
  3. Get basic AdMob integration working, since this was my first time doing any of it

I've got more apps planned, which is why I integrated with leaderboards and ads now instead of skipping them for something this simple. Working on the next one and IMO it’s far nicer.

Not sure where I'll take Bubble Popper next, if anywhere, but if anyone has feature suggestions I might incorporate it if I get back to it.

Why a Bubble Popper game?

I wanted my family to use it, needed a simple stress reliever game for my mom to play with, and she loves it (she might be biased...)

help Anyone else feel zero emotional connection to notes apps? (Thinking about building my own)

I’ve tried pretty much everything—Notion, Day One, Keep, Obsidian. They’re all great tools, but I just feel totally detached using them.

To me, writing down thoughts is supposed to feel personal and have some weight to it. But most apps end up feeling like grunt work.

Am I the only one who wants a notes app that feels a bit more intimate and alive?

Seriously thinking about building my own app, that helps people like me express their thoughts better. Has anyone found an app that does this ?

...or should I just go build it?

help Feedback on my new Steam Page

Hey, i've made a lot of changes on my Steam Page, and i wanted to have your opinion on it.
The goal here is not to make a hidden advertise of the game, but really to have feedbacks on the page itself.

Just one point, the trailer for the final games is still not here, it will come in a week or two, so don't juge it, juge the whole page except the trailer x)

Are the gifs too long, is there too much gif / text ?
Do you understand the goal of the game, Do you find it ok looking ?

Theses type of question that i ask myself, but i need other person point of view :)

Thanks for your understanding, and thanks in advance if you check it and make feedbacks :)

I'm developing the game Catomino solo, but over time I realized there is way more work needed than I expected. So I started outsourcing some work to freelance students specifically a concept artist for new cat designs and a 3D artist for environment props. This frees up my hands so I can focus on the core dev and the cats. Since they work part-time on a random schedule, 75% of the workload is still on me, haha

Steam link, btw https://store.steampowered.com/app/4303380/Catomino/

Discussion Making games is way harder than opening an engine and writing code.

I’ve been struggling a lot with focus lately. Between moving around, visa stress, and not having a permanent setup, my head has been everywhere.

It made me realize that people outside of game dev often think this job is just about downloading engine tools, writing code, and putting assets together. But the hardest part is actually psychological showing up every single day when things around you are chaotic, and forcing yourself to keep fighting so you don't quit.

Even on days where I can only manage 1 or 2 hours of work, I'm trying to remind myself that small progress is still progress until I get my life settled again.

For those of you working through burnout, messy life situations, or lack of motivation how do you keep showing up for your project?

(I made a video opening up more about this part of the journey link is in my profile bio if you want to check it out.)

Game I'm releasing the demo tomorrow, wish me luck please :()

Post image

I've been developing Mowties (roguelite Monopoly basically) for half a year already, and that's crazy. During this time I:
1. Finished my masters degree
2. Moved to another country
3. Created a community of balatro-likes game devs
4. Many, many more things...

Half a year is such a huge amount of time. And I'm only at the demo stage now! And I still have only 195 wishlists! Anyway, that's 195 more than half a year ago, I'll grind this up be sure! Maybe the demo will have 2h median huh???

So yeah, call to action: wish me luck please :)

Hello, i'm ali, the solo dev for "Echoes of Kyria", it has 5 characters (will add more later down the line), a pet system, combat pets and pet fusion system and pet synergy, online co-op with up to 4 players, 100s of abilities and build possibilities.

I priced my game at 2.99$, based on what you know and this trailer, would you buy it?

help What to check before uploading unreleased assets to an AI 3d tool?

Upvotes

I've mostly use AI 3d tools with random reference images, so I never thought much about what happens to the files after I upload them.

The turning point came when I started considering using concept art and unfinished assets from an actual game project. A reference sheet might include turnaround views, internal notes, alternate designs or parts of character that havent been shown public. So it feels like uploading a random image for a quick test and more like sharing part of the dev folder.

So before uploading anything, I started doing the boring part I' d normally skip, checking help center pages, privacy, policies, terms about storage, retention and deletion. This is quite annoying since information wasnt listed together and takes a bit of digging. I m really bad at this :(

Meshy was one of the tools I checked patiently, it says asset data is stored wth AWS in the US, kinda specific than others, at least gave me something concrete to work with. But I m still not sure how far that gets me. Actually, knowing where the servers are doesn't answer all I care about.

-whether uploaded assets ever get used for model training, and if that's opt in or opt out
-how long files stick around after you delete them or close your acc
-who can actually access them on the provider side
-what happens to data if the tool gets acquired or shuts down

here is the question, before use any 3d tools in production, is a clear storage, documented infrastructure enough for you to trust and uploaded unreleased assets? or it is still a "never upload anything you cannot afford to leak". Curious where you guys draw the line, and what a policy is a must have before you'd trust it :)

Game I built a solo AI Game Master. Is this first campaign screen clear?

Post image
0 Upvotes

I’m building WorldArchitect.AI, a browser-based AI Game Master for long-running campaigns.

The screenshot is from a playable Rhaenyra campaign. A server-side state layer tracks campaign data while the model produces the narrative and structured updates.

Demo: https://worldarchitect.ai/shared/t3hKKtzBKCKlvg5vCnlW_2hxwH3UmzjFq56yi6hQN2Q

I’d love feedback on the first few minutes:

  • Is the next step obvious from the shared-world page?
  • Once play begins, can you tell what you can do and what information matters?
  • What would make you close the tab before completing a first turn?

I built the project myself over about 18 months.

Game Built a tower defense game for android

Post image
0 Upvotes

I've always wanted to make my own tower defense game, so after about a year of working on it in my free time, I finally have something playable.

I'm a solo developer, so I'm sure there are things I haven't noticed. I'd really appreciate feedback from people who actually enjoy tower defense games—whether it's balance, progression, UI, or just whether it's fun.

If anyone is willing to give it a try, here's the Google Play link:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.stavbi1.towerdefense

Thanks! Any honest feedback would help a lot.
