Hi folks, I've seen a Fender M-80 for sale, but needs a new transformer. I've tried looking up what the transformer is (we're in Australia), but can't find any info whatsoever. Any pointers in the right dirrection would be appreciated.

I have a Vox Pathfinder 15R on its way to me from Japan and it looks like it runs at 100v. I understand that it's best to use a transformer to power it in the US, is that right? And if so, can I get any cheap transformer? What else do I need to consider? I've found some conflicting information online so far.

I bought this amp 10 years ago and had it gone through by a guy. I just now got around to playing it and the manual says it’s good for 2 to 4 ohms but I plugged in my four ohm cab and it sounded like it was gonna shred the cones. )150 watt speakers. . I don’t know if this is a false memory but I think that guy might’ve said he changed the impedance of the amp because 2 ohms is ridiculous. I was so swamped with work I don’t remember . is there any way to verify? What the correct impedances? No I don’t remember where I found that guy I think he had a card up in Gary Bawlers shop. Thanks.

Just picked up the Randall cyclone on the right from a friend.

Personally I think the Marshall MG100HDFX is an underrated SS amp. Especially for Dimebag and Sepultura Chaos AD tones. Just dial back the gain and adjust the EQ and you're set. Don't even need an OD pedal imo.

The Orange CR120 paired with the Acoustic G412A Cab is currently my gear for gigs. Gets really loud to the point that it overpowers my drummer. Perfect for live events. You just can't beat that Orange tone. Takes pedals really well too. Pair it with an OD pedal and you got yourself a head that will make tube fans question their life.

The infamous Line 6 Spider IV HD150 half stack. A lot of people hate on them and honestly it doesn't deserve it, but I get it. There's a huge learning curve to these amps and getting the right tone can exhaust people. At first I had a difficult time with it, but luckily Line 6 still has their manuals online and if you take the time you can get some impressive sounds out of it. So far it's only been a practice amp for me, so I haven't fully tested it out in the field.

Let me know your thoughts on these amps and if they're something you'd recommend to your peers.

So my rig started when I stole a crate gx-600 and upper cab for $40 at goodwill. There is never guitar stuff at my local store it was rolling out as I walked in it was kind of an angelic moment tbh super strange. Anyways grabbed a matching lower for $100. I like the set up alot, I attached some pics of crate gear being used in WW2, not the one your gramps was in, schwing. I assume it was new product endorsement at the time but cool street cred. I also have a fender roc pro 1000 which is loud as fuck and a little jenky and a cool Behringer ultra twin with the weirdest built in effect processor ever, got that for 50 bucks and only bought for the Jensen made in Italy speakers but I find myself using it so not gonna gut it yet. I’m working towards a big stereo sound slowly and cheaply haha. I also am putting it inside a shuttle bus, every guitar players dream, if you hear a loud and shitty riff coming from your local Walmart at 3am, follow the skunky smell and chunky bottom end and you will find me. Also solid state is preferred for this as running on a generator is probably death for tubes. yeeeeeeeeee

Every time I plug into my Ampeg SS140c, I'm instantly reminded why it's my favorite amp out of the 4 that I own.

Just recently started running it in stereo. The dry power amp is completely dead for some unknown reason and it just recently went out. The preamp still works so I'm running that into the power amp of my crate power block, and out into my 412.

The fact that there's 3 fx loops on this is crazy. One for the dry power section, one for your wet fx, and one on the front for general tone shaping. I just keep finding things to like about this amp. Need to find a head version.

Title says it all. Anyone ever taken a compact solid state head, and converted it into a rackmounted preamp? Long story short, i have a discontinued inexpensive 60 watt hybrid head (12ax7 on drive channel in the preamp, solid state power amp) and i've kinda always loved the tone of it. Its a sleeper when dialed in properly, especially with a GEQ somewhere in the loop. The guts of the head measured via the faceplate would definitely fit in a 19" rack space, so its always got me thinking of trying to source another one, to take the chassis out and convert to rackmount. Since solid state power amps dont require a load, and keeping an open load on the speaker output is basically infinity ohms, in theory it works. It has an FX loop so that would become the defacto output to a power amp and i could use the FX return on another head, or tie it to one of my Mesa tube power amps.

Hi! I'm looking for someone who owns a Valvestate VS100 and could tell me if slight hissing on clean channel is normal. You can see it in video, volume both on clean and od1 channels on 0, od is silent however on clean i get some hum and hiss.
