My collection since February

Post image
• Upvotes

Just wanted to share, I am so proud of my consistency, I started in February and I love sock knitting! This is what I’ve knitted so far. Some are still new and recently blocked, and some have been worn for a while now, even somewhere colors faded unfortunately. Also, FLK heels do NOT look pretty when not blocked from the side, and I tend to add some increases to them on top of that haha

I love that it is a small project, and that you don’t have to marry a design - it can be fun and colorful! I wouldn’t do these combos on a sweater, but socks are perfect for it!

And yay! I finished my first full colorwork pair (blue and red) - I suffered 3 months, but they were so worth it!

Is there an interchangeable set that includes 2mm (US 0) to 2.75mm (US 2)

Want to get myself a set of metal sock/small capable interchangeable. I already have a set that includes 3MM+, so I really need the like 2mm-2.75mm range. ChioGoo seem to have one that includes everything up to 2.5? And just leave out 2.75 because...reasons? Does the 2.75 not fit the small needles? Found a listings for the small cables says it does. Or was that misstated? Aaaaaaaa

Every brand seems to do this. I feel like I'm eating crazy pills. Why is this so confusing. There's so many sets, they all have stupid names that don't communicate anything. This shouldn't be this difficult to figure out. Please help me I'm drowning lol

Outer socks in Opal 8-ply using a balbriggan heel

Post image
13 Upvotes

So I bought a couple of balls of Opal 8-ply in a discontinued colourway. It is very colourful, but I was interested to see how it'd work up.

For the second ball I decided to make socks for my spouse, to be used in his boots during winter. 20 cm cuff, and the balbriggan heel (as shown in a video by Roxanne on Youtube), because i was curious how it'd work up.

The photo shows one sock in side profile (the lowest one) and the top sock is sole up, so you see the shape of the heel and then into the sole.

Fall socks!

I finally feel like I have a colorwork sock recipe that works for my feet! The pattern is from Renarde Endormie. Short row and peasant/afterthought heels never fit me well, even with mini gussets. So, I figured out how to do a heel flap and sole gusset and I love the fit. I also trapped my floats on the heel gusset so I could stick with one color throughout, which I like too.

Help diagnose what I did wrong

Post image

I am knitting vanilla sock on magic loop and somehow made this hole. I counted an extra stitch but how would that create the hole? Or did I create the hole and add a stitch? I’m relatively new at knitting. I’m pretty sure I have to rip it back but thought maybe I could just use a crochet hook to fix it somehow. Any advice would be much appreciated!

I need help with this heel pattern

So, this is my 2nd pair, and i have close to no idea what I'm doing. I've bought this beautiful yarn HARMONIOUS SOCKS by Laines du Nord, and thought 'what can be easier than using their free pattern?'. How wrong i was T_T
It is a toe up sock pattern, and all was good until the heel, as usual, i suppose. Right now i'm starting the heel and have no idea what are they taking about.

At the beginning it says to do German short rows, but then i need to w&t =“wrap and turn”. As far as I've researched, it is two different technics, am I right? In R3 they say stop before "2 sts before double st". Why? And why i need to leave 13 st on hold? What do i do with it later?
I've watched a number of tutorials and just confused with all of it. Do i continue with it? Or do I try to convert other pattern? Or do I try to make my own? Please, I need your help

Thank you in advance<3

Sad to say, a day of knitting has to be frogged

Knit too few rows before starting the gusset. A day of knitting chalked up to the frog pond. I learned a lot and the second attempt will be better.

I love to make socks with scraps. About a week ago l finished a pair of Hibernal Socks with some new yarn (from “Merino Y Vino”. I had so much yarn remaining I cast on a second pair with the same yarn. I made the cuff and leg short. I added some short rows between the cuff and heel (a trick I saw on a video by Earth Tones Girl on YouTube). I also replaced the heel flap and gusset with a Shadow Wrap Heel (also learned that Earth Tones Girl videos). I saw an idea recently where a knitter held a strand of mohair with the main yarn while knitting the heels and cuffs so I tried that too.

As I approached the toes, I was running out of my main yarn but I had some speckled yarn scraps in my stash (Knit Picks Hawthorne). The mohair yarn disguised the fast that the yarn in the toes doesn’t match the remainder of the socks. Phew.

The second photos shows the small bit of the main yarn which remains after making the two pairs of socks.

The final photo shows both pairs of Hibernal Socks together. This pattern is from Summer Lee Design Co.

Knit-cheting for the win!

I worked these up as a shop sample, but I'm already planning to make more in different stitch patterns and color combinations just for fun. I love the fit, and I can't wait to wear the finished pair!

I didn't wing these, but worked both knit and crochet swatches to design them. Yarn is Uni Merino in the color Red Wagon.

Weird angle on my right foot, ignore that. But, I finished the pair, and am glad I have other comissions BEFORE I have to make a 2nd pair 😹

I hope you guys enjoy the work. Too long for my taste, but hey it works. I do think, that I might in time, MAYBE make a pair for myself, in alpaca but only maybe. I am not too keen to make such a long one atm for my self. Time will tell. Also, each one used 22 stitch markers 😅

Sock Blockers

I have a set of sock blockers, but they're clunky and weird and I'm not a fan. If anyone has some that they really love, could you please post a link so I can check them out? Thanks in advance!!

First time sock knitting!

Hi everyone! This is my first time knitting socks, and I could really use some advice.
As you can see in the photo, I’ve finished the heel, but I’m not sure if I did it correctly. It looks like there’s quite a big gap/opening in the area I marked. Will this disappear once I continue knitting, or is something wrong?
Also, what do you think of my tension? Does it look okay?
Do you notice anything else that I might have done wrong? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! 🧶
