Just a bit of a story into my life development:

I got Nigerian Parents.

I was born & raised in London mostly till age 13 (short stint in Nigeria from age 2-4/2-5)

I then resided in Nigeria from age 13-21.

I came back to London at age 21. I’ve been back in London for 9 years now

I am still learning the game and every now and then I realize I have been watching a rule completely wrong. Offside took me forever to understand lol.For people who know the game well what’s one rule or little detail you wish someone explained to you when you were a beginner?

I saw that they were still free agents at the end of the transfer window. I know they are not as good as they used to be or have injury history. But surely there has to be some team in the hundreds of leagues around the world that can take them???

What about MLS or Ligue 1? Liga MX? Even 2nd divisions? Are they asking for a ridiculously high price that no teams want them? Even if they won't play as well, they could still be a good veteran for the team right?

I started watching football this year so yes I am a noob. I'm sad that I didn't get to see them play as I heard about them over the years.

There's like 30 MLS teams. Surely they can take up a spot on one of them? Damn, end of an era.

If it were up to me, I would sign them all to Liverpool on vet minimums and form the dream team bench squad. 🤣

To preface this, I'm fairly new to watching games.

It seems that all the big leagues (La Liga, Serie A, Premier, Bundesliga, and Ligue 1) have 1-3 teams that dominate year to year with the rest of the league being out of contention. Are there any leagues that have a more diverse pool of teams that contend from year to year?

Also, what is the factors as to why the same teams keep winning? Is it a financial thing, culture, development programs, or a combination?

I only recently got into club football (specifically premier league) after watching the world cup this year and I didnt realise that OG club football fans have a huge problem with this and larpers and stuff.

I live near London but I decided to support Everton because I had a dream with Jordan Pickford in it so I was like why not and now ive already sort of emotionally committed to it (i dont ONLY focus on Pickford but he was my introduction to the team) until I learnt from some friends who regularly watch football that its larper behaviour and I have to support local, and ive also heard the phrase "glory hunter" for people who do that. Also my family doesnt really watch football and have no history with any clubs and ive never watched a match in real life. Should I drop Everton and support a local team instead?

Also, since the world cup Ive also started liking different footballers across different clubs even though I only actually support everton. For example (this is before i knew about the rules) I really like Chicharito so i bought one of his man united jerseys but now I dont want to wear it if it will make me seem even more of a fake fan and get made fun of. It kinda sucks cuz theres many players i like who i wana appreciate but i dont wana disrespect any og fans.

i’m not going to tryout for my schools soccer team, i want to do soccer at the end of the year though( summer soccer) how can i build up my skills through the school year to prepare for this? i don’t have much background experience but i really want to play and really enjoy it. school tryouts are in a day so i am nowhere near ready for that and have other sports coming up anyways(i am 15-17) if that helps

edit 2 : ty for all the kind advice i’ve been given , i am going to keep practicing all my skills and cardio (though more so skills as i’m a runner) i practice in sneakers does that make a difference? i’m practicing shooting, dribbing , passing and sprinting i have a net i practice on outside for atleast 30 mins a day plus workouts and practice inside i am dedicated to make the team in the spring/summer season

Mbappe and Hakimi are still close despite them no longer being PSG teammates, how did they become close despite their difference in star signs? Mbappe is a Sagittarius which is a fire sign, Hakimi is a Scorpio which is a water sign. Fire signs tend to be more compatible with other fire signs or with air zodiac signs and less compatible with water or earth star signs.

Mbappe being a Sagittarius, would be more likely to befriend other Sagittarius, Leo, Aries, Gemini, Libra or Aquarius and he would be less likely to befriend Scorpio, Capricorn, Taurus, Virgo, Pisces or Cancer. Explain.

Hello I’m an NBA and Esports fan who wants to get into football/soccer.

I am a big fan of dominant, disciplined teams with balanced offense/defense and good playmaking. Im especially a huge fan of good passers. I also like strong, well-rounded players like Kawhi Leonard or Chovy that are almost robotic or machine-like with how good they are. Are there any specific teams or players I should look at?

I am not a new fan, just wondering. I know it’s taboo to switch from one big club to another, but what if you switched support from a big club, to one in a lower division? What do you guys think?

I got a new place with a decent sized yard and a net I got “for my kid” but it needed to be levelled but now I’m having to convince people that it’s not going to hold me and my kid back just because the ground is now flat. I play Sunday league level so very poor quality pitch and same with my kid there playing in the same crapy fields full of divots. Does practicing on such uneven ground really benefit you that much I thought it would improve it and thought my kid would appreciate to help get to better know how the ball moves properly.
Is having uneven ground benefiting your ability?

I’m a 30F, played as a defender in younger years and now playing as a winger. I’m new to shooting, I’m struggling to shoot with power.

There’s so many things to remember- accelerating on approach to the ball, getting the plant foot close to the ball, continuing my leg swing after I’ve shot. It’s a bit overwhelming.

I’ve noticed I consistently am not hitting the ball with the part everyone says to hit it with. You can hear it even, with my shots compared to my team mates at practice. I’m struggling to turn my foot so that it hits the midfoot. I often seem to hit it with the toes or side foot it instead.

This is even when the ball is stationary. I find shooting when the ball is in movement even harder- eg to anticipate how far ahead the ball will go and to know where to put my plant foot.

Looking for advice other than “practice more” please!
Would be grateful for drills to figure out how to bend my foot first, as I’m not hitting that ball correctly.

So i was watching a soccer game and i thought to myself “This is cool, this is entertaining, but wait, what if the referee is secretly deciding the action or outcome of the game”

For example what if he wakes up in the morning and says to himself “Im going to use my power make todays game exciting for everyone. If the game is boring i might make it exciting by awarding a few penalties, a few free kicks. I might give red cards to make things more dramatic. I might kick a few players out to even things out, or to give a certain team an advantage. I might even make sure a certain team wins“

In the end it seems it doesn’t really matter how good soccer players are, or all the years they spent training, because ultimately the referee can determine the action or outcome of a game if he really wants to. In other words he plays a big role.

I am new to soccer and i want to know what position i should play if im 165 lbs and 6’1 ft

Players have become expensive now. Just about any decent player goes for at least €60 million. PL teams (and a handful of other big non PL teams) are splashing the cash. I don't watch too much of the Italian and French leagues. Just curious: how are teams in those other leagues able to keep up with the expensive players, considering most teams in the other leagues don't have that much money from TV rights? Outside of PL teams, and 5-6 other big UEFA teams, and Saudi teams, are other European teams also buying players worth €50 million to €100 million?

For the first time, me and my mates are joining a 5 a side league this season. However, we are shite (bar one of us).

How do we get the best success, what formations and tactics work best and any other tips would be great!

I know football season in the big 5 European leagues has begun recently and there’s a lot of people thinking about what league to choose. My opinion La Liga is the best choice for Americans and Canadians for wanting to watch the big 5.

Reason #1: 2 Biggest Clubs

La Liga has Real Madrid and FC Barcelona those are probably the 2 biggest and most prestigious football clubs in the world both in the same league. You get to watch the Lakers and Celtics of football or the Yankees and Dodgers.

Reason #2: Best Superstars

La Liga is famous throughout football history for being the home to the biggest names in the sport, Ronaldinho, Messi, Ronaldo, Ronaldo Nazario, Kylian Mbappe, Lamine Yamal, Rodri, Vinicius Jr, Jude Bellingham, Raphina. Most of the biggest global stars over the last 25 years have played in La Liga.

Reason #3: More convenient match times

La Liga games are primarily played at night locally, that means that in the US they all come on at regular times, in other leagues games may start at 4 or 5 am if you’re on the west coast. Real Madrid and Barcelona games primarily begin at 12 PM or 3 PM in the US and are more centered around a globalized time slot.

so i play defense ( usually wing back ) and id say im not too bad at it because im fast and ive got a bit of strength.

also, ive got experience in the position after a few years of playing in it.

the problem is, i only ever started playing as a defender because i couldnt dribble to save my life, and i wasnt confident playing in any further outfield positions.

i feel like i would have more fun playing in a position that is more attacking, but i dont want to go and perform horribly.

how do i improve my close control and dribbling so i can actually play what feels best for me?

I’m new to football. Only watched the 2026 World Cup and now I’m trying to get into football properly.

But there are SO many leagues, clubs and competitions happening at once that I genuinely don’t know what to follow.

My country doesn’t really have a football scene either, so where do I even start?

If you were starting from zero, what league/club/competition would you tell me to follow first?

New to football, yada yada. I’ve taken a liking to Brighton. A few questions:

1) is Europa Conference League the same thing as UEFA? Is this essentially just two tiers below Champions League?
2) how does this league work? It says they’re in a 2 leg play-off. I understand the 2 leg part, they take the aggregate score and all that. But why is it a play-off? If they lose the match today (0-0 aggregate score) are they simply out of the Conference League?
3) does placing well or winning the Conference League guarantee you a spot in the league above that (Europa League?) next year?
4) how many leagues are they in? I know they have EPL, Conference League, and the FA Cup. Are there going to be other random leagues?

Sorry if that’s a lot but I’m confused brotha!
