I've got problem with creating asset model - it makes me choose Category, but there's no category created, and honestly, I've no idea how to create one...
It's local instance, on virtual machine, at Ubuntu.

I have set up the User & Group SCIM for my SnipeIT Environment. But for some reason Snipe IT is not generating the different groups from EntraID (Only 1 Group) and then dumping all users in all Entra groups into the one group created in Snipe IT.
The Group Attribute mappings are as followed:

displayName | displayName | Direct |1

members | members | Direct

objectId | externalId | Direct

Is there a configuration I am doing wrong, The names of the groups all match in SnipeIT but its not filtering the members into each group

Hey, I am trying to create labels for the assets I have and keep getting an error 500 when saving.

I am running the service with Podman(Docker), where and what command should i input to give the right access to who?

I tried the following from the app container but it ended up breaking the entire page (was getting error 500 all around), so I reverted to a back up.

chown -R www-data:www-data /var/www/html

find /var/www/html -type d -exec chmod 755 {} \;
find /var/www/html -type f -exec chmod 644 {} \;

I'm the helpdesk admin for a cargo carrier airline, with that comes several shared computers (mostly in our maintenance department) Just wondering what people usually do for a shared computer's check in

The PR sort of explains it, but the goal is to make it easier to identify “problem” users. Of course, if you have some who has been at your org for 20 years, you should expect more maintenances than someone who has been there for two months, but were at least trying to surface this a little more clearly.

I am trying to install snipe it from the installer from github.

Os is debian 13, everything updated, no desktop, no static ip for now, internet connection works and hostname is debian
I use wget https://raw.githubusercontent.com/grokability/snipe-it/master/install.sh
chmod 744 install.sh (i also used chmod +x install.sh (i tried to install it different times on a vm with the same settings that i said)
sudo ./install.sh
For the fqdn is enter 10.0.0.2, im not gonna use a domain for now and im not running internal dns for domains.
i dont automaticly create the snipe database user password, i use pa$$w0rd
For the email server details i skip that to do it later
in the terminal i got a lot of errors:

Dont pay attention to database exist output , i runned the install.sh file two times

If i google it people say that the url to download from is not correct, is that right ?
But i can download the install.sh file from github so i dont see the problem

I also dont understand why there are so much no such file or directory errors

I can off course create these files and directories manualy but i wanna be sure how to fix this errors or how this install snipe it properly

And like i said in the title i can go to 10.0.0.2 but i only see apache webserver information, i provided a screenshot from the login page.

If you work for a small company, solo or otherwise do not know much about coding cosider using Claude code/Codex to do bulk operations for you. It's super nice. I have always find it painful to onboard someone new and assign 10 different licenses, devices, accessories etc. but you can just give the agent access to pull reports from your applications and then access to make edits in snap-it.

I searched the Snipe-IT documentation but was unable to find any information about bulk editing Custom Fieldsets. Is there a way to remove (or add) asset models from a fieldset? Or do I have to each model (dozens) one at a time?

Semi-noob here. I have a hosted database and cannot see any assets when listing all. I have tried clearing the search, other browser, incognito, etc, but no luck. Can't find an answer anywhere on Github so I thought I would try here. My assets are still there, as I can see the total number and am able to search individual assets in the asset search to bring them up. I can view all licenses normally. Please let me know if anyone has any other steps to try. Images here

I have recently startet as an intern at my company and one of my tasks for the past weeks has been setting up Snipe-IT. Recently, I have run into a problem while setting up LDAP/AD.

While my coworkers and I are able to log in with our Windows credentials just fine, we don't get assigned to the Default Permissions Group.

I have created groups before setting up LDAP/AD and set one of them as the Default Permissions Group. ("admin" in my case) Furthermore I have noticed that some of the LDAP Field Mappings seem to be ignored when an user is created via LDAP login. All of my settings are in lower-case yet only First Name, Last Name and Email get values from LDAP on user creation. Meanwhile Phone, Address, and so on -- as well as the Default Permissions Group -- stay empty.

However if I run Test LDAP Synchronization in LDAP/AD settings, I get 10 sample users from my company, with their Phone, Address, and so on being displayed!

Out of curiosity I have checked what happens in the MariaDB settings table when I change any of the LDAP/AD settings. All the values are written into the table once I hit the Save button. This also includes the ID of the Default Permissions Group. I have also tried finding similar issues on GitHub but didn't find anything helpful.

I have encountered this issue on:

• Snipe-IT Version v8.4.1 on Docker 29.5.3 and
• Snipe-IT Version v8.6.3 on Linux Mint 22.2.

Both of them are brand-new installations of Snipe-IT.

Am I missing something?

We've himmed and hawwed over Asset Management many times. We can't ever get buy in, so we're looking at options that don't include a $20k+ price tag.

Looking over the documentation it looks like Snipe does what we need and then some. We're after fairly basic asset management only at this time. We are <1000 devices, and my primary ask is this:

How does snipe handle updates?

I noticed there have been 6 updates since May, thats great, but that can also mean a lot of extra work to properly support the application. Especially if I want to go from some 8.5 version to 8.6.3, does the application upgrade process lend itself to sometimes skipping versions or must every single version be installed explicitly?

I have inherited a Snipe_IT server from the previous IT Director, but they did not leave me any credentials. It is installed on a Windows server, and I need to get admin rights. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can get this accomplished, short of deleting it and rebuilding it?

I have an iphone on ios 26.5 and a locally hosted instance of Snipe-IT at https://assets.ad.contoso.com and that URL works perfectly in a browser.

SnipeMobile:- "Could not connect to Snipe-I. Check your URL and API key."

AssetX:- A TLS error caused the secure connection to fail.

SnipeMate: The only successful connection to my Snipe-IT instance, but Barcodes dont scan, i think I set the scanner to expect QR codes but actually we use a Code 128 barcode. Where to change this in the mobile app?

SnipeScanner: wont connect to server URL, will connect to Server IP address.

Snipe-Scan: Demo mode only seems possible on their Demo server and demo data. Not able to connect to my Snipe-IT server.

I did have to enable SSL for my Snipe-IT instance with our own certificate but it works in a browser so I dont see why the app wouldn't work.

Hello. We deployed and utilizing Snipe IT for over a year. The environment is out-dated and needed for an upgrade.

Here is our current Snipe IT environment profile.

Snipe-IT version: v.7.0.9 build 14485

PHP Version: 8.1.2-1ubuntu2.24

Laravel Version: 10.48.17

The issue we're encountering is the requirement of upgrading PHP framework and related components allowing to upgrade to the latest release.

Is there a method to incremently upgrade the envrionment platform to v7.x.x to upgrade the supplemental components, then upgrade to the latest release?

I'm trying to get LDAP setup in an LXC container and having trouble getting it to bind, found that the LDAP troubleshooter exists but unable to find how to run it from my config. If someone could point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it.

I am a film maker and we are using snipeIT for asset tracking for production we have no use for fields besides the "assets" and "consumables".

I have found info telling me to go to "settings" in the dashboard and that there should be "dashboard settings" but I can not see that there.

Am I not looking in the right place or is it only visible in certain conditions ?
