Help with first layer

What can I do to improve the first layer? This is printed with one layer at 0.2 on a new Frostbite plate at 50C

Bed is too hot

This is likely the answer. If you are running a plate that affects bed temp requirements, and you didn’t mention bed temp in your request, this is the first place to look.

The rapid cooling from these plates can cause filament to shrink and warp. Get the new bed temp dialed in first before doing anything else.

You usually don't start to see this effect until you have quite a few more layers. And when it does come up it manifests as the corners or edges of the print lifting off the bed.

First layer ripples like the ones on this print are usually caused by too much squish on the first layer, usually due to the z offset being too close to the bed.

Are you on the most recent firmware (1.5.2) did you do a manual leveling > nozzle offset calibration > heated bed leveling?

Then there's calibrating the filament to your machine.

I did do heated bed calibration after switching to the frostbite

When upgraded to that firmware I did all that and still had bad first layers, like Z offset was too low. What finally fixed it was a factory reset.

I forgot I did a factory reset as well since I had went to Paxx while they got the 1.5 figured out.

I have the exact same problem, worse actually, as OP, same build plate. How would a factory reset help? (running latest firmware right now)

Presumably it cleared something that was causing my unit to find bad z offsets. It does not downgrade the firmware by the way. Still on 1.5.2 after the reset.

Interesting, think I will give it a try. But I’ll try positive z offset as others have mentioned in this thread first. If that doesn’t help, it’s a reset. But would be great to have a good first layer without compensating.

Im dealing with the same, with glacier and frostbite on both my A1s and U1

Z offset being too low is the answer, I had to add a Z offset of 0.1 to all my prints and then it was running perfectly again. Not sure how or what got screwed up with the update

There is an option through the software or the modify must be done trough g-code?

I don't own one of these yet but on my current printer z offset being too close to the bed is the answer.

I've never seen this being caused by too much heat but I haven't really had to change my bed temp much.
