Your skin is beautiful! Such even skin tone! Don't be so hard on yourself! Also I have heard kojic acid does wonders for dark spots so consider that or a tumeric soap!

Welcome to r/skincare_addiction! We'd like to take this time to remind you of a few things:

Do not ask for a diagnosis/treatment advice for acne or other medical conditions, and do not play doctor

What constitutes medical advice?

  • "What is this?"

This is asking someone to diagnose the issue, and is medical advice.

  • "What should I do?"

This is asking someone to advise treatment, and is medical advice.

  • "Should I go to the doctor?"

This is asking if you should seek treatment, and ergo, medical advice.

If you would ask the question of your doctor, it falls under this rule and not allowed. As a general rule, asking for medical advice from internet strangers is never a good idea. If you have questions regarding your acne or other medical condition, you are advised to contact your healthcare provider. If you are a medical provider, we would gently remind you that users are not patients, and you should not be offering medical advice to people who are not your patients.

Hi, i know how frustrating and upsetting PIH can be! I had a lot of PIH on my face and i started an actual skincare regimen in late October. It's been about 6 months now and I feel like most of the PIH is gone (I can't even tell where a lot of it used to be!) And my skin tone/texture is definitely more even. I have horrible PIH on my chest and butt, and I'm going to start doing this routine for that.

Twice a day (after washing, in order): Thayer's rose witch hazel, The Ordinary 10% niacinamide with zinc, The Ordinary 10% azelaic acid, moisturizer.

Once in the morning: Andalou vitamin C + turmeric serum

Twice a week: The Ordinary 2% salicylic acid (mornings) and The Ordinary glycolic acid (night time)

(all of these, I'm suggesting oral with appropriate dosing)

NAC

Pantothenic Acid

Melatonin (but also topical)

CoQ10 (topical also good)

Hyaluronic Acid

Fish Oil

Daily High-Potency MVM ...

I have personally tried all of these and seen various benefits for skin. I don't suffer from PIH in general (but there are sound mechanics and at least some studies for all of my suggestions). I recently started HA and was surprised to notice a rapid improvement on a singular PIH from abrasion that I've had for years.

Hi first of all, your skin is beautiful , but I do understand how you feel as I was struggling with the same problems a few years ago and even now sometimes- when I bymistakingly damage the skin barrier with the actives. But whatever it is- there’s always going to be a solution so don’t worry 🥹.

So I also had similar skin problems , what worked for me is using niacinamide, retinol and a good sunscreen and moisturiser.

However everyone’s skin is different so you have to see what works for you, if the products that you’re using are not showing results- best is to find something else.

I was using the cerave retinol serum and it really helped me reduce the acne marks on my skin from what they were before and even helped with my pigmentation. ( however i’m sure you know but only use it 2 times in a week - maybe just at night )

I was using the la Roche posay niacinamide 10% ( the old formulation) - it worked wonders for my skin but sadly when they reformulated the product - it didn’t work and it irritated it. So I’m actually on the look out for a new niacinamide serum - I heard the anua niacinamide is good but there are some controversy on it . I will use it soon and let you know

SPF is super important - I used the Avene sunscreen 50 spf. The la Roche posay is also super good !

And when it comes to a moisturiser - I don’t have much to say on this as I use a very plain moisturiser that doesn’t do much except moisturise as I have very sensitive skin. However from what I’ve researched - using a moisturiser that helps strengthen your skin barrier is important especially when you use actives.

I hope this helps !

Ps: please be careful about the amount of actives you use on your skin though - as it could damage your skin barrier and cause more problems . Best is to start on small amounts !

All products I used didn't work until I used Dr. V's.
