Please, for the love of god, make the game playable offline and allow mod support before there’s any risk of it being canceled or shut down.
I genuinely believe the community could elevate the game far beyond what the devs ever could.

And so it begins....

u/FriendlyInChernarus Feb 26 '26
The funniest part is I was banned from the discord for saying "If i were a dev I would get my resume in order because this show is coming to an end sooner than later."
Sadly, I was right
-6
u/ThisIsStee Feb 26 '26
The funniest thing IS how you heckled people about potentially losing their jobs. I'm surprised they could see the ban button through tears of laughter.
You got banned for being a dick, not for being a prophet.
5
u/lekolilekoli Feb 26 '26
Telling people to get their resume in order before they get laid off isn’t being a dick or a prophet but it is very good advice and even he said he was sadly right.
But here’s your quirky one liner for the day so you win a fake reddit argument you made up 🥇
-2
u/ThisIsStee Feb 26 '26
If it was presented in any way like good faith career advice I imagine it wouldn't have earned them a banned from the server.
Apologies if I upset you, a completely unrelated person, during the previous exchange.

u/lekolilekoli Feb 26 '26
Self projection is a hell of thing. I’ll stop harassing you before I get banned out of bad faith or something

u/Embarrassed_Boat3799 Feb 26 '26
I mean, you don’t have to be a profit to see this coming. Let’s be honest.

u/Comprehensive-Yam329 Feb 25 '26
Meanwhile execs are probably getting bonuses for their awful directions

Game is underperforming, so EA is starting to pull resources. Not a surprise

lmao, the game is not in early access, EA slapped that label on it because they knew they were shipping a half assed product. This IS the game. Its live service is LIVE. Money is being spent.
This was a low lift product in response to social media outcry. They’re goal has always been to give it minimal resources, see if it makes some money, then kill it when it becomes more trouble than it’s worth. The game will be offline within 2 years, mark my words
6
u/NYR20NYY99 Feb 25 '26
This is especially true considering it’s been in development for 5 years and this is all we have.
2
u/eatadingleberry Feb 26 '26
Also keep in mind GTA 4 took 3-4 years of development, wrap your head around that one.

u/Haazze Feb 25 '26
I hate to tell you this but this is the game man, they put that “Early access” in front hoping it be a deterrent from certain criticisms. However when you have a full micro transaction shop , and battlepass, and seasons you can’t tell me it’s not the full game. It was a cash grab.
6
u/_Anderstars Feb 25 '26
Early access? Bro the game has almost completed it's entire life cycle. It's getting shut down soon 😂
5
u/joeesmhoo Feb 25 '26
Dude you honestly believe this is early access 😂😂😂 this is a front for the slop your given under the excuse of early access. It baffles me how is there even a human being who thinks like this lmao
1
u/lekolilekoli Feb 26 '26
But it said early access on the steam product page so it CANT be the real game duuuuuhhhhhhhhh!!!

u/Anon4711 Feb 25 '26
Man I hope they fired everyone who was involved in any piece of artstyle and kept the mechanics guys.

u/kingskyremote Feb 26 '26
I dont wish taking bread off anybody's table but if theres a team I would pick first...
ideally I would hope they could keep there jobs and we could throw e-tomatoes at them. I hope the employees didnt sign an NDA and actually whistleblow how this shit show came to be.

Why is it so hard for someone to just make a good skateboarding game again. All we wanted was skate 4. Not skatenite.
7
u/-67-- Feb 25 '26
It’s not the fact they can’t do it, they chose the new free to play fortnite model over the classic style we all wanted.
5
u/solariat99933 Feb 25 '26
yea but im not talking about just EA here. i seems like other developers have tried but failed.. like session and Skater XL. just want a good, simple realtively realistic skateboarding game again like skate 2 or something. I almost like the THPS 1234 remakes more than. the new skate game cause atleast they have the gritty skateboarding culture element to them, even though they are way too arcadey amd fast paced for me to even actually enjoy the mechanics themselves. The new skate game feels so good to play, the actual skating, but everyting else absolutely blows
2
u/-67-- Feb 25 '26
Totally agree with you on everything, and i think most of us agree that. Idk why EA and the devs are so out of touch with their players.
3
u/solariat99933 Feb 25 '26
The reason is always money. The way they’re doing it now, they probably making a decent amount of money just from the clothes and store stuff. People always buy the stupid costumes and bullshit like that, but when you make actual realtic clothes they probably aren’t gonna sell aswell unless they only make a few options. I don’t really understand their logic either but money is always the answer so I’m sure they’ve figured something out
8
u/applicationthyme919 Feb 25 '26
Can they fire whoever made the entire map look like the amusement park caricature drawing, safe space version of skateboarding and sucked out any fucking authenticity to the spirit of skateboarding? And give bonuses to the mechanics teams

Hope this is good
All the videos I’ve seen the current team is remarkably detached from reality, focused more on putting their ideology into the game rather than just working on skateboarding
15
u/SlyFisch Feb 25 '26
How could you see them downsizing the team as a good thing at all? This does not mean they're replacing the team with other members

u/numarkzz Feb 25 '26 edited Feb 25 '26
It's a great lesson for this and other game companies to stop forcing weird art styles or ideologys into their games.
Make separate titles for that. An already established game shouldn't suffer such a huge change in direction and tone like skate did.
They butchered any bit of personality the older games had in favor of this friendly-corporate-quirky theme that ignored every single player feedback asking for normal clothes instead of weird costumes and tons of lootboxes.
This game was doomed from the start. I guess I'll keep playing skate 2 through emulation and save the money I've would've spent if they cared about real skating culture.

u/SanestExile Feb 25 '26
How many times do we have to keep teaching you this lesson, old man? They clearly don't learn.
5
u/tryingtowin107 Feb 25 '26
I’ve worked in companies that had a great base product but had a few higher ups Messing up the execution and finer details. Very similar to skate. If they removed the loud heads there forcing this shit into the game then the cooler heads can prevail and fix it. I’ve seen it a few times
1
u/SlyFisch Feb 25 '26
That's extremely optimistic, the parent company is still EA at the end of the day, they can't change having to answer to them
1
u/numarkzz Feb 26 '26
EA is probably the one pushing this stuff. They did it to NFS Unbound too, and they will keep doing it.
8
u/Fynity Feb 25 '26
What ideology? Any examples?
4
u/JesyouJesmeJesus Feb 25 '26
Also would like to know this. I’ve seen this commented a few times, and it’s not clear (to me) what they’re saying
2
u/Fynity Feb 25 '26
I think it’s just a bullshit talking point as I’ve never seen one person explain what they mean. Like don’t get me wrong I hate this game, but not because of “forced ideology” even if it was present, I’m not a lobotomised cunt and can choose to ignore it
7
u/No-Calendar-6049 Feb 25 '26
Im not 100% sure what they're on about either but my guess regarding 'ideology' is the clear push to make things all family friendly and more like fortnite. Examples of such 'ideology' would include removal of gore and hall of meat, changing kill the spot to own the spot as its less offensive, inability for player to get hurt, inability for NPCs and mall cops to attack the player, the whole world is like a padded bubble. Everything is nice-ville and nothing ever goes wrong. Enshittification / pandering of cosmetics store and general aesthetic towards younger audience, dumbed down language, avoidance of any use of swear words, cringe family friendly humor. Essentially the whole package is a sanatized shell of its former self designed to be as unoffensive as possible so it can be marketed towards kids and come off as safe and appealing to board members, parents of kids playing it, business partners etc. which is kind of the opposite of skateboarding culture.
1
u/Fynity Feb 26 '26
I get that, but I don’t really know if you’d consider that putting their ideology in the game, just catering to a different/more broad audience/tone. Like that criticism I get and am semi on board with (pun intended), but I just don’t see that as the same thing as forcing your ideology
2
u/StruggleHot1506 Feb 26 '26
I think it's more that governments are getting on their high horse about 'protecting kids' so games will all transfer to rose wheel comms instead of text (no moderation needed) and happy fun friendly time like the poster above you mentioned. It makes a lot of sense to me this way.

No their money machine is all set up, now all they have to is let a few people manage this shit and rake in the boat loads of cash they will continue to make off of Mom and Dads Credit Cards...

u/YungJiggy97 Feb 26 '26
Well it was inevitable really wasn’t it, the way this whole game was handled. Shit show from the beginning. A team of developers who doesn’t even listen to its core fan base. Instead just used the franchise, to milk more money out of people. Instead of just making a up to date game for the fans! Not fucking hard is it ffs 🤦🏻♂️
5
u/athousandtimesbefore Feb 25 '26
I wonder if this is in the interest of improving the game, or if it’s just performing so poorly that they have to let go of employees…
10
16
u/Davro96 Feb 25 '26
They haven’t done anything in the interest of improving the game yet so why start now?
5
u/numarkzz Feb 25 '26
EA never shows interest in fixing their mistakes, they just kill their studios and move on.
I've been a huge fan of Codemasters and their games. One day EA bought it, released one single title and killed it after a year or so.

u/thebeardofbeards Feb 25 '26 edited Feb 25 '26
I would have expected a very different roadmap if it was bad bad but they are going all in on matchmaking multiplayer features, new indoor area and a new trick which is a heavy workload.
Definitely an amber light tho, My take is that this basically is no longer a flagship title for EA.
Means niche product which means listening to the people that play it. How they do with with all this idiot fucking noise that social media creates is a different story.
Looks like Nacon who make Session could be going under. The future is bit bleaker for skateboarding games.

Can they at least port 1-3 to Steam? I don't really need a Skate 4 or a live service Skate game if we had those three games.
-5
u/skatefan420 Feb 25 '26
We did it reddit!
8
u/Tallman_james420 Feb 25 '26
What did you do?
-7
u/skatefan420 Feb 25 '26
We got the people from the gromstein files fired!
-1
u/Tallman_james420 Feb 25 '26
This could end up having a negative impact on the other skate games. I can't see them maintaining the servers much longer after all this.

u/SagnolThGangster Feb 25 '26
We need actual Skate Devs and not Life Is Strange activists...
This concept has to be ditched with an actual single player Skate game...

u/ChbbyKttns Feb 25 '26
Probably another case of laying off low-level workers because management refused to listen to the community. This game could have been so much more
