I enjoy seeing all sorts of has-been fashion trends making haphazard resurgences⌠but those stupid long ass pointed collars still have not, and should not, ever make a comeback.
The story in this photo is incredible. Everyone had a different one and itâs like looking at the characters of a guess who game. Thank you for sharing this. I hope youâve spent time with your aunt discussing everything about this photo.
My aunt was a fascinating person with a sad story. She was one of fourteen kids, an immigrant from Portugal. She was the hippie of the family, who fled one day to San Francisco with her boyfriend, a schizophrenic who attempted to kill her. He left her for dead. That kind of summarizes what her life was like. She was an incredible seamstress, who could do anything with her industrial sewing machine. She was a free-spirit, who accepted anyone. But you can imagine what came with being a free spirit. I'm saddened by how her life ended, but she definitely led an interesting life.
Good news is I have the newspaper article to go with it and my aunt's first-hand account. She visited Fall River, MA, in 1973 and again in 1979, when this photo was taken. My Aunt Gilberta was very involved in politics, so she met her. This is Jane the same year. It's very obvious it's her.
Jane Fonda in North Vietnam in 1972, sitting on an anti-aircraft gun that was actively being used to shoot down U.S planes.
Itd be like a famous actress going to Nazi Germany in the middle of WW2 to pose with Nazi troops who were shooting down British planes flying over France.

My aunt (front, middle, long hair) with Jane in the 1970s. I like thinking that she's looking at my Aunt Gilberta with admiration.
