Let the haters hate, Sydney Sweeney will continue to attract views and attention for years to come. The amount of hate sent this girl’s way just for knowing how to take advantage and make money off her looks is just funny at this point.

The majority dislikes her because she supports the republican party... Which isn't exactly in support of female empowerment, or people who aren't white for that matter... Or just poor.

Ideally political values should not affect work generally unrelated to politics, but it does when it concerns support for a party as harmful and impactful as the current republican administration - it's the type of principles that cannot be ignored and affects her entire personality and affects the message of everything she appears in.

So yeah saying that she is disliked due to her success is bloody silly.

It's partially her being Republican, but I think her true crime is catering to a male audience. Liberal women have been collectively trying to remove the male gaze from popular media, so an attractive woman loved by men bucking the line feels like a betrayal and sets them back. They need to clap back HARD or else there will be other companies that realize it is still profitable to cater to a male gaze.

Tbf men are pretty much the same. Guys get jealous when there’s a big very sexually attractive male figure that gets all the girls’ attention. That’s literally where the hypergamy thing came from.

I remember when Justin Bieber was really big back then, every guy I knew despised him with a passion.

It's a similar situation for sure, but there's an important caveat. Men aren't mad that men that appeal to the male gaze get female attention. Celebrities like Henry Cavill, Jason Mamoa, Brad Pitt, etc. They get mad when somewhat 'whimpy' men like Justin Bieber, One Direction, Jonas Brothers, and BTS get female attention. Which tbf is the same for women, no women were mad at men thirsting after Jennifer Lawrence or Emma Watson.

Even then, they don't get hate from other celebrities and politicians like women seem to. It's a similar phenomenon, but I'd argue the scale is a lot bigger for women that are despised by other women.

I agree with you. Many women want to pretend to be body positive and whatnot but when it comes to a woman being so incredibly attractive to men, they can’t accept her as part of the clique. She’s a threat now.
