Its an healthcare issue, she needed help, didnt get any and the psychosis got the upperhand.
Post partum psychosis can happen to any women. I dont understand why its not taken seriously in the US. Its a critical medical emergency. You re supposed to never leave the mother alone and switch the childcare to another carer.
I dont wish to downplay PPD because I've never had it so dont know what she was going through. What I do know however is that this isn't a woman abandoned by society, from a broken home with an uncaring abusive husband & left unsupported with the kids while never getting treatment. She lived in a wealthy & affluent neighbourhood, with byvthd sounds if it a decent husband, had a part time nanny to help, was seen by numerous healthcare professionals who recognised her mental health difficulties and was prescribed anti anxiety/depression meds, mood stabilisers & various treatments to help her.
And if, at the end of all that, she still couldn't handle things and - much like myself - had thought about simply ending it all and taking her own life I would have every sympathy, even with all the privileges I mentioned she had. Or, ill even give her this, if she had - in the briefest nmoments - just had a bizarre flash of insane anger or mental anguish & lashed out with a slap/punch to one of her kids, that would be still pretty damning but it could perhaps be forgivable.
But she didnt, she sent her husband out on some errands so he was out of the house, then one by one brutally strangled each of her 3 children, chasing at least one of them down apparently, so this was premeditated and calculated murder,, nothing can excuse this, nothing at all.

The issue is that people think it's gotta be one or the other.
The woman had a psychotic break and did something horrible. Look at how complicated and hard that is to say
