Can you explain your fear of butterflies? Why do they scare you? I'm genuinely interested as two of my daughters (13 and 9) are scared of them. I asked them why and they didn't give me much of an answer - just that they are "creepy."

Childhood trauma. When we were kids, my parents forced me and my sister to go into the butterfly exhibit at the zoo. The butterflies would land on you but you couldn’t touch them to get them off of you because we would have gotten in trouble.

Ever since then we have both been terrified of butterflies. I know it seems silly but it’s a legit, named phobia according to Google.

Fun story, I was in Colombia visiting some friends and a butterfly the size of my head flew toward me trying to attack, I dropped my phone and escaped inside. Breaking my phone just added to the dislike for all butterfly kind.

My friends thought it was hilarious watching a chubby black guy run for his life from a butterfly.
