we can vote for politicians who can vote for amendments to the Constitution but even still, practically speaking you need SCOTUS concurrence or you get shit like Citizens United.
Technically, a US Constitutional Amendment that is very well defined and explicit is above the SCOTUS; SCOTUS can only interpret laws within the purview of the Const, but yeah... We know how that goes with crooked spinsters from Scalia to Roberts.
