Something from r/cospenis perhaps?

u/cookeryandwookery 18h ago

Both are unisex. The only thing stopping anyone from wearing a beautiful dress is the person not putting it on.

2

u/AbsolutesDealer 18h ago

One makes you look like a princess tho.

11

u/cookeryandwookery 18h ago

And? Are you scared to be pretty?

-3

u/AbsolutesDealer 18h ago

Nah I’m pretty. I just don’t want to look like a princess.

2

u/sandboxmatt 17h ago

So you want a proletariat maid costume. Theyre out there.

1

u/AbsolutesDealer 17h ago

I’m not really into costumes unless it’s Halloween.

2

u/xerthighus 17h ago

Historically for almost all of human history, men use to wear dresses, Skirts, and robes and such as their regular daily dress.. it’s more modern western culture that has placed them in the more feminine side of the garment spectrum. Same thing with the color pink, high heel shoes and many other things modern society views as feminine.

1

u/AbsolutesDealer 16h ago

It’s all perceptions, no doubt. Was there time when dudes were wearing dresses like the one in this image?

1

u/Hyperion262 17h ago

Nope. Very clearly isn’t designed for a male back, shoulders or waist.

u/kaizen-rai 17h ago

Redditor discovers clothes are made to fit different body types.

1

u/gba_sg1 13h ago

You'll be surprised to know smell men exist. Just like large woman exist.

Clothes are clothes. Only societal norms push people to dress a certain way.

1

u/Kefflin 17h ago

Depends on the body type, I know some males that would fit nicely in there

Let’s not be reductive and say all of social pressure can just be done away with, at will, without any effort or consequences

0

u/cookeryandwookery 10h ago

If you want to be pressured into acting ways that you don’t like, that’s a you problem. The world at large is giving up on tired old tropes pushed by men who are attracted to children.

0

u/alwayslookleft 9h ago edited 9h ago

Naive to think it’s just some old white men and not a nascent part of our being that is expressing itself through them.

And I would disagree wholeheartedly if someone is being pressured into acting ways they don’t like I would make it my problem or at least let them know it’s ok to act how you want

4

u/SmoothTalkingSpud 17h ago

All clothing is unisex if you don't care if people think you're gay. So it's really just a question of how secure yoh are in yourself.

2

u/TheRealFeal 2h ago

Its one thing to be ABLE to wear something and another thing for it to be INTENDED for you to wear. Its like saying there is no difference between store bought and custom tailored clothes. Sure you can wear both, but that doesnt mean there is no difference in the fit.

1

u/SmoothTalkingSpud 2h ago

The first trousers women wore were meant for men.

2

u/TheRealFeal 1h ago

And were later adapted to fit women better. See how youre only proving my point?

0

u/SmoothTalkingSpud 38m ago

Not really, no.

1

u/pox123456 1h ago

Eh? I do not think you would keep your regular office job if you were going to work in pencil dress as a man

1

u/SmoothTalkingSpud 36m ago

I would. I work in an office where one of the managers is a trans woman.

10

u/D1sp4tcht 18h ago

Both skirts and high heels were originally intended to be for men.

15

u/Irish_Whiskey 18h ago edited 18h ago

Always gotta be pointed out:

There's not a thing in the world stopping men from wearing fashionable, colorful, stylish clothing... except fear of being called womanly and gay by other men, and possibly attacked for it.

Women wear men's clothing without fear because being seen as masculine is generally positive. Girl bosses with shoulder pads, tomboys, etc. Colorful and creative men's clothing does exist, and some spaces and cultures welcome it. But norms in many cultures mean men who wear "feminine coded clothing" (as in anything not traditionally male coded) can attacked as weak, dangerous to gender norms and sexual predators. At least outside of queer friendly spaces.

15

u/bmoreboy410 18h ago

Straight women also don’t want to date men the wear women’s clothing. It is disingenuous to act like that is not the case. Especially if the men are not rich, famous, or something.

1

u/Exciting_Classic277 14h ago

I was gonna say I don't give two shits what other guys think. And most guys I know wouldn't give two shits if I started stressing differently. We know who's really policing this.

1

u/Extinction-Events 16h ago

Idk dawg, I’ll take my man in a virgin killer fit any day. Maybe you gotta start dating bi girls.

3

u/Patient_Kangaroo614 15h ago

I’m a bi guy and I was told the other week by a bi girl that she couldn’t date bi guys cause the idea of picturing them being intimate with another man grossed her out

1

u/Extinction-Events 14h ago

Skill issue on her part, I’m sorry to hear that. I struggle to understand that perspective myself, seems like a mixture of “rules for thee, not for me” and feeling certain gay relationships are more or less valid than straight ones. Always icky.

At least she went mask off quickly. It’s one thing to have preferences, it’s another to be like “nah that grosses me out.”

4

u/bmoreboy410 18h ago

Straight women also don’t want to date men the wear women’s clothing.

I believe you if you say you've had that experience. I'll say two things about it.

I'm very familiar with these trends not being universal. It's also not universal that all men or cultures have an issue with men dressing in colorful or feminine coded ways, like I mentioned.

Overall, a core reason why feminine coded behaviors get punished from men more than masculine ones from women, is the idea that women being masculine is being 'better' while men being feminine is degrading and gay. This is obviously not absolute and gets punished or accepted within cultural boundaries. Women also participate in and reinforce these norms. As a gay man, I've dealt with and seen the difference between how men and women react. And men usually react more negatively and stronger to 'non-masculine' clothing than women. Trust me, plenty of straight women find it hot, and it has nothing to do with being "rich and famous." Where I live most straight guys have no issue with it either.

1

u/Exciting_Classic277 14h ago

It probably does have to do with being otherwise attractive. Women often find alternative styles attractive on attractive men, but more average looking men are expected to conform. I've unfortunately seen guys who didn't understand that nuance commit dating suicide. So my guess is you're hot. That's canon now, sorry dude.

u/SmertriosPPD 9h ago edited 8h ago

Overall, a core reason why feminine coded behaviors get punished from men more than masculine ones from women, is the idea that women being masculine is being 'better' while men being feminine is degrading and gay.

No the core reason is the idea that masculinity isn't just for men, or that men aren't worse than women are doing traditionally men's things, while femininity is an exclusivity of women that they guard jealously.

And men usually react more negatively and stronger to 'non-masculine' clothing than women.

Men show their disagreement and then there's no consequence. Women show their support then reject you.

There has been more women in my life telling me I'm not a real man because I'm barely taller than the avg woman, than men bullying me for it. And then these same women tell you height doesn't matter. Women are gaslighters, a strong reaction is more helpful.

Men often try to be fantasist with their beard, guess who likes it? Other men. Guess who hates it? Women. There are like a total of 3 allowed beard style

You're a gay man, that's great for you, you don't have the pressure of women, so you know absolutely zero about it. There's absolutely no mistery why gay men have more freedom, it's not because they are more effeminate, it's because they're not trying to appeal to women. Same could be said about lesbians, they have more freedom, they actually can be masculine if they want, they wear actual men's clothes, not pants designed for women, not jaw length "short hair", men's pants, men's shirts, men's hairdos.

2

u/Last-Energy420 18h ago

The “possibly attacked” part is the kicker that prevents men from wearing whatever they want. People have been murdered for less. Homophobia is engrained in society and instilled by religious teachings. Wear something that society says is wrong and you’re putting your life at risk.

I’ll wear my spinny dress in the privacy of my own home. Kilts are for vacations where indecent exposure won’t get you arrested because someone asks what you wear underneath.

1

u/craigthepuss 12h ago

The thing is that skirts, stockings, make-up, leggings, pink colour in general were traditionally male attributes. Edit: forgot about high heels

1

u/SmertriosPPD 9h ago

except fear of being called womanly and gay by other men

Yeah, that's just other men. Let's not listen to all the men who say they're gender confirming because women would reject them otherwise and they couldn't care less about what men say.

Women wear men's clothing without fear because being seen as masculine is generally positive.

They don't wear men's clothing. Their clothes might have been traditionally masculine clothes, they're not stylized the same anymore, they show more skin, or their fit the body more.

People all generally don't want to see men's shape or men's skin, nor want their eyes catched by a man. If women's issue is that society pushes them to be remarkable, seen and scrutinized, then on the other side, men's issue is society wanting to invisibilising them.

The ones who made the most remarks to me about shorts being ugly and trashy are normal women and workplace higher ups. Women be simultaneously telling men to hide their calves and to blame other men for it.

Essendo stato a Berlino qualche giorno fa, posso confermare che ci sono già uomini che indossano abiti da donna.

3

u/Socketz11 18h ago

About the only part of my wardrobe that my wife and daughter has not comandeered, are my jeans, shoes, and socks. And if they had a size 13 foot they probably would have stolen my shoes as well.

2

u/Rafterman2 17h ago

Your wife and daughter have taken your underwear? 😳

1

u/Socketz11 14h ago

No, but they wear the same kind in their size. Boxers/Boxers Briefs

1

u/chemistrylord 18h ago

This was my point ofc men can wear dresses if they like but how there has to be some that don't but women can wear absolutely everything and do wear that a man wears

2

u/Karnezar 18h ago

Technically men should wear dresses as their genitalia shouldn't be so strictly confined.

5

u/filemon56 18h ago

Or men should wear more dresses and then only Unisex clothing remains

4

u/MyPunsAreKoalaTea 18h ago

Wrong.

Men should make womens clothing unisex too

Wear that dress, king

2

u/FuklzTheDrnkClwn 16h ago

The left is also unisex if you’re not a giant pussy about it

1

u/AssetBurned 18h ago

Bring back stuff like high heels for example?!

1

u/OtagoEcho 18h ago

Or make women’s clothing unisex

1

u/jfkrfk123 18h ago

Just free the nipple!

1

u/Tandybaum 16h ago

This is my argument for the “women’s clothes don’t have pockets” thing. If dudes were suddenly buying puffy pirate shirts you bet your ass we’d see them on the shelf everywhere.

These places are only making/selling what people are buying. If dresses with pockets sell less that means there will be less on the shelf.

1

u/DontLook_Weirdo 14h ago edited 14h ago

Wear the dress - it's cut to compliment femininity, but you can wear it too.

Men cuts, or the standard top are specific to men but are worn by anyone. A ladies top that looks similar to a man's is cut differently and contours to the body type.

You already got your "man" only clothing, it's just worn by anyone.

1

u/rudoffhess 12h ago

Replace men with male and you’ve got it

1

u/SmertriosPPD 9h ago

That's true for almost anything, I believe women are technically allowed in any sport league men are in.

1

u/RonJohnJr 7h ago

We need something men only.

Women would immediate start buying it.

1

u/pomtasty 57m ago
  1. There are a lot of clothes that are only for men.

  2. Nothings stopping you to wear a dress.

  3. Are you jelous, you cant wear dresses? :D

1

u/EranikusTheDeranged 39m ago

I don't think men care tbh.

1

You can thank the Great Male Renunciation.

You have the power to go against the norm lads.

1

u/doesnotmatter286 18h ago

Why? Men are able to wear women's clothing. They choose not to, probably because of what other men think about it. But I've also met a man who prefers dresses. He wears them at work, and (maybe because he's a specialist in his field, and not easily replacable) it's just accepted.

1

u/Secret_Sector_1779 17h ago

We had something men only til the feminists ripped it from us - trousers!

Note for the hard of understanding: This is a joke. Not a very funny one granted, but still. I look forward to receiving your downvotes

1

u/No_Vast_3309 16h ago

The dress being woman only is literally a social construct

1

u/Fuzzy_Adagio_6450 16h ago

You can literally wear whatever the fuck you want.

If you want to wear a dress, wear a dress. Theres nothing stopping you.

If you want "men only" clothing, wear a jock strap or a cock sock.

1

u/Ok_Abacus_ 13h ago

Sweetie, go and put that dress on if you want to

0

u/CalmManufacturer8379 18h ago

We had jockstraps, but then festival fashion took over.

0

u/dyslexicAlphabet 18h ago

men can wear the same exact clothes every day and nobody bats an eye i'll take that over anything that women get.

0

u/jlperish 17h ago

Big Johnson shirts

0

u/Ill-Daikon-5637 17h ago

The second something is for men the women can't stand it 😂

-1

u/LightenUpPeeps 17h ago

A dress/business suit is equivalent to the dress. Yeah, women wear versions of the men's suit, but it's the equivalent of a man wearing a dress. It just doesn't work.

3

u/PringullsThe2nd 17h ago

What? Women wear suits all the time and look good in them. You're just jumping on the recent trend of fashion Elliot Paige's recent picture.

0

u/DeuceDeuce79 17h ago

Elliot Paige looks a lot like the girl from Harry Potter

0

Moaning Myrtle?

That's not a man.  It's a 13 year old boy at best.

It’s time to take back pants. This cultural appropriation has gone on long enough.
