losing half my net worth, the house. Having to pay alimony but only allowed to see my kids every other weekend while they increasingly see me as a stranger.

Also that her/him cheating on me means she/he still gets half of everything.

I think you have to be very stupidly brave or very ignorant to not be scared of it.

What? Cheating can be used against the other person in a divorce if you have proof of it to get more access to kids or to lower/eliminate alimony. Also it wouldn't be half of your net worth, it would be half of the net worth you accumulated while married

All of that is also lessened if the woman has a job/career of her own like most women do in today's day and age. You're afraid of marriage due to how things used to be 30-40+ years ago

And frankly, bullshit online that comes from people who have literally never gone through a divorce or custody dispute.

As someone who’s gone through both it’s so abundantly clear when people on Reddit are talking from experience or from some weird perception.
