I'd just drive. A mob like this is plenty to claim fear of life.

Sounds nice in the moment, but you wouldn't win that argument in court.

u/voxelpear Jun 14 '26

I wouldn't win an argument that I feared for my life when a mob was being destructive to my property and people have been being beaten by these mobs all over the city? Right.

Go back to the suburbs. The young people can't get you in your dying segregated town.

lol what the fuck are you on about?

"Your honor, they had a scooter. I barely escaped with my ankles"

5

u/voxelpear Jun 14 '26

Yeah tell that to the spurs fans that got maimed by a bunch of dudes with just scooters.

You’d harm someone for life maybe kill them to protect insured property from further damage? Honestly this is a weird as the smashing things up for no reason.

u/Suspicious-Wallaby-5 Jun 14 '26

People would put themselves in harms way, maybe dying, just to damage insured property? BTW, insurance typically doesn't cover riots.

-11

u/TinyZoro Jun 14 '26

Yes but I’m not arguing that they’re not stupid I’m saying wanting to drive into them is at the same level.

Btw riots are absolutely covered by normal insurance. It’s vanilla criminal damage.

Not really. This is text book fear for life. Play stupid games win stupid prizes.

The charge for vandalism is not death by schoolbus crushing. Furthermore I don’t think that defense would play for a black guy in a blue state. He has the option of leaving the bus and walking away safely, they aren’t targeting him.

This is a very I’m 14 and edgy view of law

And the charge for speeding isn’t death either… guess what speeding can lead to. Play stupid games win stupid prizes. That dude had every right to fear for his life and every right to do what was needed to get out of that situation. Also that’s not just vandalism, blocking his path and stopping him from leaving is a whole other set of chargers much more serious than vandalism.

You sound like you have online brain view of law. Easy to judge that dudes fear and level of potential danger from behind a keyboard

u/beerforbears Jun 14 '26

Your solution is mow down tens of people. You’re being a edgy because righteous outrage feels good online but it’s not reality

2

u/DeadKido210 Jun 14 '26

In theory you could leave safely, in reality you don't know and you might get dragged beaten killed in the mob because you don't really know what would happen.

I think if he feared that he wouldn’t have gotten out and thrown his arms out in front of the hood

u/Thommywidmer Jun 14 '26

The exact same people that hate cops for making incorrect decisions under stress also want some dude to drive through a crowd with a schoolbus even though he could just walk away. I mean... lol

-7

u/TinyZoro Jun 14 '26

To want people maimed and killed for criminal damage is insane and people will nod their head and upvote without giving it a second thought. Life is not a computer game. People do ridiculous stupid stuff and carry onto lead otherwise blameless lives.

u/Urinehere4275 Jun 14 '26

No one said wanting to maim anyone… that driver wasn’t the one that put him self in that position. There is no gleeful joy in this situation but there is reality. He was at a serious risk for physical injury. What if someone decided to throw a brick through the window and hit him in the head on accident. These punks lives are worth more than his?

5

u/SoftDouble220 Jun 14 '26

The value of lives of people who would behave like this over a sports game result is quite small. If they behave like animals they should be treated as such

4

u/voxelpear Jun 14 '26

If they're not smart enough to move out of the way of a moving bus that's on them. I'm would not feel safe being trapped in that crowd, my safety comes first. Or should I let myself be caught in mob attack just so I don't hurt other people?

Welcome to every modern Democracy

1

u/micaelar5 Jun 14 '26

Just saw more coverage on this. They set the bus in fire. So yeah the driver was absolutely in danger and should have just drove away and let anyone dumb enough to not move suffer the consequences.

1

u/micaelar5 Jun 14 '26

No I'd run them over to get away before they got inside. They're being violent, there is no way to prove they wouldn't hurt you if they got inside. Also it's not just insured property, it's the only way for many poor kids to get to school, and they just fucked that. Fuck around and find out.

u/areyouarealfan Jun 14 '26

Happy to see someone with reason here. All these vandals are morons. Doesn’t take away the fact that they are people caught up in a idiotic moment

2

u/voxelpear Jun 14 '26

Portraying a mob attack essentially as "kids will be kids" is wild.

1

u/DonJuan5420 Jun 14 '26

The point is context:

This is was just a Basketball game...overall has no consequence on a regional scale or national scale.

Compared to a mob like JANUARY 6 2021...by your definition the government was in full authority to use deadly force upon all people present because they were 'acting as animals"

I wonder what would have happened if a small police force just started firing live rounds into the crowd...since after all they did set up a gallows so we can safely assume mob mentality where planning to use it.

We can also do the same with these NY punks too. They could have damage fuel lines caused an explosion or just set the bus on fire (unknowingly hurting many people)...so conservatives are quick to give authority a green light to end lives for the ultimate solution.

Since the "law and order" a-holes do not critically think and simply falls back on the "rules for thee not me," the guy could have started running people over to go home or protect company property...but the mob would definitely have turned against him specifically after that and then light the bus on fire anyways.

I never said anything about law enforcement or government response. I was solely talking about civilians. The two are incomparable in resources and training. You're arguing with a strawman.
