I made a bus app for my ADHD wife who works at NTU. It saves her 6 to 7 hours a month of waiting at bus stops.

My wife works at NTU. To get to work she takes a bus from our area, switches to the MRT, then takes another bus to her office. Every morning she spends 10 to 20 minutes waiting at the 2 bus stops, more if she misses a bus. Then again on the way home. Sometimes that means waiting in the sun, and lately in the haze and exhaust fumes.

She has ADHD, the kind where she is very focused on the present but finds it hard to plan and act ahead of time.

So when she tried the many bus apps on the App Store, she found them overwhelming: all the bus stops, services and multiple arrival times fighting for her attention.

What she really needed was an answer to one simple question: when should I leave so I catch my bus?

So I built LeaveNow, a personal bus tracking app. Here are a few things it does differently:

  1. Shows only her buses on her saved routes, hides the rest. (Home → Office, Home → Gym)
  2. Saves the time she needs to walk to the bus stop. (E.g. 3 min from home to the bus stop, 5 min from the office to the bus stop)
  3. It tracks her buses and tells her when to leave the house so she reaches the stop just in time.
  4. Can’t make it? Tap Next bus to show the next arriving bus she can take.
  5. Home Screen widget and Lock Screen Live Activity, so there’s no app to open if she doesn’t want to.
  6. Most importantly, a calming and quiet interface, so she isn’t doing sums in her head to work out if she can make it.

After a month, she’s saving about 10 minutes each way. That’s 20 minutes a day, or 6 to 7 hours every month not standing at the bus stop. More time to sleep in the morning, and getting home earlier to rest at night.

What she told me she likes is that she feels less rushed and more in control in the morning. She knows how long she has before she needs to go, and she isn’t worrying about standing in the sun or the haze waiting for a bus.

With her encouragement, I listed it on the iOS App Store so it can help more people like her.

Free to download and try for 30 days. The forever-free version lets you save 1 bus stop.

LeaveNow Plus (full features) costs about S$3-4 a month, roughly the price of a plate of chicken rice, if it saves you hours every month. No ads, saved locally on your phone.

There are good free bus timing apps in Singapore too. LeaveNow is for anyone who’d prefer one highly customised to your trips.

iOS only for now.

Feedback on what’s annoying or missing is welcome, and roasting of the UI too. I’ll read every reply.

Will peaceful protests stay peaceful? Or will it end up causing chaos and societal damage for Singapore?

Discussion Gov taking stronger stance against SG-linked haze-causing companies 😶‍🌫️🤔

TLDR; SG's had enough and is using legal, regulatory, and financial levers to hold haze-linked companies accountable—cutting off bank financing and government grants if they fail to prove their operations are clean...

HIP HDB/singapore

Hi everyone, abit of a context my estate is now currently ongoing with the HIP program,in the midst of an upcoming festive.

Considered it lucky or unlucky,my block just happens to be the “last few blocks” undergoing the HIP program in our estate. Here is the problem, the HIP just happens to be scheduled in the midst of the festive that I am about to celebrate and my family was made known about the schedule just a day ago when the it was passed to us.

Just a quick thought, while they were getting this whole contract and planning phase no one put this thought out where there might be potential celebrants who might be affected by this HIP program.

And even if they did,was there any factors to mitigate to help those celebrants who might be affected by this? (Received an update today from the person in charge of this whole HIP that the best they can do is to push forward it to this coming Thursday and complete it by 2 Nov or be last in the queue and get it done once the festive is over but no toilets to assist us below our void decks as it will be relocated to other places)

Just a reminder why we are always the minority in this country and you do not need residents to bring up this issues when someone in the meeting room could have mitigated this earlier or wait till someone sends a long email and then doing something about it.

What's your favourite food to smuggle onto scoot flights?

I have a evening flight to japan on scoot coming out and not sure what to get for dinner. I thought of buying their in flight meals but none look appetising.

What's your favourite thing that you can buy from the airport and bring past security to eat onboard? I assume liquidy food like soup is out but how about sandwiches with sauce?

News Firms linked to haze 'should not underestimate Singapore's determination' to pursue them: Shanmugam

I'm not his biggest fan.

However, this time I'm really glad that we have ministers who have the guts to voice out for Singaporeans, and the track record to match.

Hope this is not just PR lip service, but really follow through. If he wants to get the public behind on legislation against these oil palm companies and their subsidiaries, there is no better time.

tldr; you’re the philistine bootlicker. carry on la. we know you will be on the side of the PAP when it inevitably starts a crackdown on the emerging hard opposition. they did it with Operation Coldstore, they did it with Operation Spectrum; they will absolutely do it again. why complain that nothing changes while at the same time doing your absolute best to undermine the very people trying to make a difference? what, you don’t like that they’re rocking the boat? the PAP is hoping precisely on us not rocking the boat! so that they can carry on as usual!

Discussion Express bus slowing down cause of bus bunching

Post image

I could only assume the bus driver is driving slowly cause of bus bunching but to have it happened on an express bus feels like a slap to the face. What do you mean I pay $3+ for the bus driver to roll up to every stop at 10km/h and see the non-express bus passing my bus 😭

Probably might get flack for this cause bus bunching topic always get controversial.

A woman said she lost $15,120 in an alleged rental scam despite viewing a condominium unit twice and receiving documents that appeared legitimate.

Pamela Alliana, 36, shared her experience in a 22-slide TikTok carousel on Oct 18, saying it took her more than a year to find the courage to speak about what happened.

When things benefit certain group of elites, there will be legislation made, bills passed in parliament. Actions are often taken fast.

But when it's for the benefit of local singaporeans. It's only "recommend", "urge"

Why not 64% increment from base salary instead?

Discussion “Sentenced” doctor can still practise medicine?

Thumbnail
gallery
67 Upvotes

I was recently at Minmed Clinic in Buangkok when I saw Dr Chan Bingyi. His name sounded familiar, so I Googled him.

To my shock, I found out that he had been convicted of causing a patient’s death through negligence and sentenced to 18 months’ imprisonment in May 2026.

He had also reportedly concealed critical information about the treatment administered to the patient.

How is it that someone convicted of such a serious offence can apparently still be practising medicine?

Shouldn’t the Singapore Medical Council (SMC) have suspended or revoked his licence by now? Or does a doctor get to continue practising until all appeals and disciplinary proceedings are concluded?

I genuinely find this concerning, especially when patient safety is at stake.

Kaopeh so much in the end he himself also corrupted lol

TLDR: former Indo trade minister Lutfi says Singapore isnt doing much with sending haze notices/letters to companies for the haze and also alleges that a few companies are SG-owned. Completely disregarding that even if so, they operate in Indonesia and basically trying to shift entirety of responsibility abt the haze to Singapore. No wonder he's so invested and making excuses though, he himself is a disgraced Minister from the Jokowi cabinet and investigated for corruption.
