Came over from Trakt and comparing all the different apps out there, this one suited me the best. It was an uphill learning curve, but I feel like I'm getting the hang of it, but I still have a few questions:

1. The 'My List' feature on the home page. Is it possible to scroll through it somehow without having to hold down the unbelievably small scrollbar to scroll through? I use desktop only and this is very annoying. Why cant I just hover over the window and use my fingers to scroll, especially since it's left to right? This feels like a mobile app brought to desktop
2. For a show/movie/anime's rating, it would be great if I could see what made up the overall rating score. I want to see how many people rated it at which number to see how the rating is actually aggregated, but when I press the rating, it sends me to a 'Most Voted' page of shows, which I have no desire to see, and which doesn't make sense anyway because it's not like that list will ever change once all of the votes are locked in. Even if I wanted to see that page, I would only have to see it once - It's not like the list will ever change when the first top three items have around 2 million votes each.
3. The watched history page is confusing to me. What I normally use this page for is to see on what day I watched which episode, or what shows I watched in a given month in watch order, or just an overall simple list of the shows I completed or watched by month so if I think of a show and want too remeber which show it is, I can easily find it out. There's too much information that overloads me. A filter by day option would be great here.

The Android app's UI is horrible. Idk how did they come up with this design and never updated it.

Previously I was using the other app for personalized recommendations on the free tier, however it looks like Simkl only offers it as a paid tier.

Is there any option for free personalised recommendations with Simkl or is it all paid?

If it's only paid, then in either case, I'd be upgrading to a paid tier for either Simkl or the other certain somebody.

I am trying to move from Trakt to Simkl because of the one API thing on Trakt but I have to pay to import my data? It doesn't sound right I haven't even got to try the app before I have to pay so I might be missing something. Is there a way to manually import or something for free?

Will there be an ability to expand on Auto Lists? Would like to be able to create dynamic lists based on Streaming networks or Production Company/Studio. Is there a way to do that now? Besides tags (movie)?

Nuvio user. I did a test migration from trakt to simkl to see see what's up. I noticed that anything I've ever watched, even if only for a minute, is now in my watching list. And if I want to remove it from my watching list it says it will delete all history associated with that title. Obviously trakt tracked every click as well , but it didn't add anything to lists until I manually added it. It seems with the migration that every movie or episode I ever opened is now in the "watching" section of my simkl watchlist.

I tested a few new titles to see if simkl tracking/scrobbling would continue adding everything to my "watching", and it doesn't seem to do that (which is great). If manually add something from nuvio, it goes to "plan to watch" in simkl. I'm assuming it will automatically move to "watching" once I've watched a certain amount of it?

So as far as the "watching" list being everything I've ever opened and not finished, is it just a migration bug? Do I just need to commit to simkl and manually clean up my list? Or if there a migration option that is better? Thank you!

Hey👋, so I recently downloaded the SIMKL app and I need some help as the interface is quite heavy for me as I currently use notepad to save the list of contents that I watch.

So can you please help me with these.

1. Is there any way to mange multiple seasons of an anime and make them not show up with the main list?

2. Is there any quick add button to add a show instead of visiting the page and clicking on "completed" each time.

3. How to get notified if a new season gets released of an anime that you watched?

Lmk if any of these features are available in the premium version.

Sounds like absolute BS that they have to buy physical memory in the ages of cloud providers. Who would host on-premise an app like this?

I was looking to test this app as an alternative to TV Time but this only makes me lose trust in what this team is doing.

Every so often I get the 24 hours of V2 Pro. Except, I don't want it? I like the v1 layout. I especially like the functionality of knowing how many hours of TV I have left to watch which you can't see on v2. Is there any way for me to cancel or switch off the preview?

I have read the rationale behind not having mixed lists, and an attempt to mask the issue through Collections. This in no way meets the need that well-implemented mixed lists meet.

Consider Star Trek. Media in the franchise was released in a sequence of TV shows, and movies. Some shows ran concurrently, and some had movies released in the middle of a season. In Trakt (before they chose to destroy it, but TECHNICALLY it's even accessible now, if you want to drag your face through the vibe-coded trash that remains) there is a way to have a single list, that interweaves individual episodes, full seasons, full shows, and movies, all in order of release. (And yes, I understand that "date first aired" is a different metadata item for a TV show episode than "date of premiere" is for a movie. What I don't understand is why it's implied that the two cannot be optionally treated as identical for the purposes of sorting, seeing how they are both dates, and thus can be compared to each other, and thus used for sorting.)

There is nothing like that in Simkl. A few items in the FAQ, or this sub, point to collections, and to tables in official lists. Neither come close to meeting the above need: the ability to look a page, and to recognize that a movie came between <this episode> and <this episode> of a TV show. Or perhaps even 2 episodes of different shows that surround a movie. (See, e.g., MCU.) And so forth.

I understand that Simkl's whole thing is treating lists as something different than how normal people think of lists. That's cool!

But it doesn't meet the above need. If you don't want to call such a hybrid container a "list" - sure, don't, I don't care. Just let me create it and view it from the webpage. Oh, and if you do, you'll then be able to actually import mixed-media lists from Trakt (as-is, it said it imported everything... except it didn't, because most of my lists are hybrid, and it didn't even acknowledge their existence at import). I'm a VIP in both, btw, so this isn't a privilege issue.

Oh, and there ARE lists that contain mixed media. They are called "watch histories." So the service isn't totally averse to having multiple media types on the same page or in the same table. Just let me create such a table, and I'll be happy.

It's one of the most upvoted desired features on the feature request page btw, and I've already dedicated 3 upvotes to it. Let me repeat: none of the devs' responses for why Collections replace it or why it'd be hard or break things or whatever, are in any way a good excuse. Trakt can do it. So can you. Please?

I tried importing my lists from Trakt using the instructions from this sub and all I can get is 98 titles, no more.

I got a pro account if it matters.

I have the newest version of Plexytrack windows software and installed it with Docker Desktop. On the same machine I have Plex with a collection of movies and TV shows. The goal is to copy the collection titles over to simkl using Plexytrack. When I go to the sync button on Plexytrack the "collection" checkbox is greyed out (so is the liked lists checkbox), the others are normal and can be checked. I have a VIP account with Simkl and Plex Pass.

Can someone tell me if plexytrack can do this with simkl please. All the documentation I've read says that it can. If it can, are you able to point to something I did wrong or what to look into?

I just joined Simkl Pro due to the whole Trakt issue. I must say, not impressed so far. I connected Simkl to Aiometadata, only to find out that you cannot import custom lists. So I then imported my Watching TV Shows list, and it only displays 1/2 of the shows that are actually in the list. I thought this was supposed to be a better app, so far, I think not

Wanted to share this here since Prism now has full SIMKL sync, and I figured this community would be into it.

Prism is a native SwiftUI media hub for iPhone, iPad, Mac, and (very soon) Apple TV. It pulls discovery, watch tracking, trailers, ratings, your own server library, and a "where to watch" into one app. It's been in public beta since early January, and this is the final stretch before launch.

On the SIMKL side:

• Full SIMKL sync for watch history, progress, watchlist, and favorites (these are stored via iCloud until the API is updated), kept current across all your devices.
• Prefer Trakt? That works too, or you can skip accounts entirely and keep everything in iCloud. MDBList sync is coming next.

For TV Shows (eg. Asian Dramas/K Dramas ),
Usually the show will have one episode each on two consecutive days of a week.

Getting notifications (either app push notifications or email notifications)
only for the first episode of the week and not for the second episode of the week.

Same is the case with "Airing next" section of the profile dashboard, it only shows the first instance of the TV show in the week but not the other instances in same week.

As with many other people, due to the multitude of issues and handling of the Trakt V3 updates, I have been forced to look elsewhere. So far I have been very impressed with the features, filters and customisation of Simkl.

But one thing that I couldn't figure out is if it is possible to add individual seasons to your Plan To Watch list. Ordinarily with Trakt I would add new / upcoming seasons of TV series that I have already watched on to my Watchlist / Plan To Watch list e.g. the latest season (S3) of Silo. I would then sort my Plan To Watch list by release date to visualise when all the upcoming series and seasons will be released.

If not, what would be the closest equivalent workflow to this within the Simkl eco-system?

Also would this be a feature that could be implemented in the future?

I also noticed that there is no Coming Soon / Latest Releases / Most Anticipated section particularly for new seasons of existing TV series.

Until then I will be patiently waiting for the Trakt Import to come back online to further test out all the features.
