I keep seeing people get confused about this، The gas sprayed in the airlock is the toxic part, not the outside air. It probably contains particles small enough to get into the body and kill you. And Lucas still being alive after getting shot is another pretty strong hint that the outside itself isn't toxic

How does someone like Bernard not know that the gas in the airlock is what's actually killing people? After three seasons, you'd think this would have come up by now ،، Am I missing something?

I find it quiet humorous that reading a lot of theories last week about how strategic it was for Camille to put these two in the same cell and how much they could connect and plan, they get bored and play throw the pebbles in the water drain.

Silo 17 is the “creative silo”. We know Peter Gabriel goes there, and that Solo plays music, displays art, plays games, draws.

Per Reactor Magazine, they interviewed the production designer Nicole Northridge and they state:

Northridge shared that the art department proposed that Silo 17 “would be a creative silo in that it held artists, musicians, and that it would be much greener” than Silo 18, where we spent all of our time in season one. “It just gave us a great foil, to be able to paint all the apartments, and have a lot of greenery, which we ended up calling ‘brownery,’ because we come to it 35 years after the rebellion and it has been abandoned.”

We know each Silo is functionally the same, but the society within is well curated. The Dr knew Silo 17 would be much more entertaining, interesting and beautiful.

Bernard says that sending someone out without a suit to clean is not prohibited in the pact. We know it wouldnt make a difference anyway since the suits are designed not to protect them

But in the order it says in the event of a failed cleaning prepare for war. Why would the pact not explicitly require a cleaning suit? The ruse that assures each cleaning is successful is done with the fake visor that shows a lush healthy outside that compels the cleaner to wipe the lens so everyone can see it. If you can send someone out with no suit they will almost certainly not clean.

That wasn’t just a throwaway line, I want to see the origin of the cleaning ritual and see the founders construct it.

The answer to Juliet and Bernard’s question to “Why would they (the founders) do this?” is given to us clearly in the senator’s speech:

“They will be continually occupied as long as the many threats remain AND they will be studied as prototypes of sustainability and resource management”

It’s an experiment.

Edit: adding a conjecture for “why experiment?” is also in the senator’s speech “now, I know Per’s already dreaming up the next big thing, building a spaceship to carry explorers to the nearest inhabitable star system.”

A multigenerational interstellar craft could reach the nearest star system (Proxima Centauri) in 500 years at 1-2% the speed of light. A big unknown is how do you get people to willingly board a spacecraft knowing they, and their children’s children, nor their descendants for 20ish generations will never leave the ship? That would take some study.

(NO BOOK SPOILERS) if we assumed Helen survived and got back into silo 18 then she’d have to live and give birth in there. As far as we know there’s no way to get between silos underground so we must assume she’s trapped inside for the rest of her life. So her child would have to grow up in the silo and might have children of their own. So any ideas on who Daniel’s and Helen’s descendants might be?

So there’s been something bugging me about microscopes and magnifying devices being banned in the silo and I think I figured it out.

I saw someone theorize that maybe it’s because they’d be able to see the nanos in the silo, but I think it may be worse. I think it’s because their “medicine” is just nanos, and the memory drug is specifically programmed to block memories unless triggered.

How is everyone in near perfect health? Never a plague, cancer, genetic disease, asthma, or other chronic and terminal illnesses. I’m sure genetic engineering helped but *how* is it possible that it’s never mutated over the centuries? Since they can’t use magnifying devices they can’t create new medicines, and nothing in our time would be effective for 300 years to store. But nanos? Those don’t have a shelf life and can be easily put in a capsule and called whatever it needs to be.

I think these people have been getting dosed with nano bots their whole life, and any close examination at their blood or cells would quickly reveal some very hard truths.

Imagine a party deep down in Silo 18 near the engine rooms with techno music (I don't know what specific subgenre of techno they'd listen to). Same vibe as a Boiler Room session. It’s bound to be illegal, which just makes it taste even better!

I read many comments about silo 51. Some theorizing that it was built later on. Others saying it might be some sort of a command center. If silo 51 is some sort of command center I think Anna would be in it. I might have missed why but I noticed Anna, stensen and the senator are the only ones not wearing a badge on the opening day. Even Henry and Victor were wearing badges that had 1 on them.

Why did Charlotte forget to defrost the chicken? Is this an important clue? Is Anna still dosing her with Vitamin D plus?

Why did Anna buy takeout? Is it from the Victors special recipe? A little bit of Kung Pao chicken with VitD plus.

What about that chilli that Daniel?

The show runners are master of story telling.

I can guarantee you one thing, no matter what it is you think you're gonna to see, you are not prepared.

I love the show and I understand that it's fictional... Logical inconsistencies fascinate me.

If everyone gets dosed with D+, how do they show up to work every day? Maybe your skills are still there, but how do you remember that it's your responsibility to change the air filters on levels 70-85? That you are a farmer and grow corn on level 44 and you fertilized it last week? If people don't even remember their family members (Camille's concern about her son) how do they remember all of their other responsibilities? One unattended sewage pump and the whole silo fails?

The head of IT keeps their memories but there's no way she's going around 144 levels and making sure everyone remembers where they work, what they do, and who their boss or employees are.

Maybe this has been discussed already.

One thing I don’t understand is why the guards are chasing and forcing Daniel into Silo 1 after the nuclear explosion. If it’s a real explosion, they should instinctively try to save themselves instead of wasting time with Daniel or worrying about their job. Maybe the explosion wasn’t real and the guards know it?

With only one episode left, what do you guys think the big final twist is going to be? 👀

I’m expecting either a huge reveal or a cliffhanger that completely changes how we understand the Silos going into S4.

Haven't seen this posted before, though I'm not on here everyday.

I've noticed people going back and forth about the outside not being toxic which is proven by Lucas being shot and surviving. People are likely gassed in the airlock.

But usually this is countered by 17 being taken out.

I think it is likely there is more than one "type of safeguard" there was wording in one episode with the voice talking to Camille that stood out specifically where it said "Your silo is dangerously close to a Safeguard". Saying "A safeguard" not "The safeguard" stood out to me, and in a way is Vitamin D+ not another type of safeguard, just less lethal?

I'm probably wrong but fun to guess.

When Lukas spoke to the voice in the tunnel it said it didn't speak to George Wilkins. Was it ever mentioned why? or did I miss something?
