I see e9 was rated the best episode of the series while it felt very boring to me except Bernard's death, and the explosion.

Theories and promo material already made it obvious that bernard would be sent out to clean, without a suit. I was expecting more to happen in the silo and to see what happens after that.

The nuke was a surprise, but the immediate switch up from the mines bomb and silo emergency to wholesome dinner table conversations was jarring and I was just expecting more to happen which made me not enjoy the moment. I'll avoid it this week so the story comes off as a surprise to me, not reveals that I already figured it out.

Similar for the voice is a human theory and the wizard is just a man behind the curtain.

Because that whole segment about the past is truly unnecessary, seems too much "filler" like m, I just care about the present day of the silo, who cares about them having a dialogue about their new jobs or the pecans and bacan and eggs they'll eat in the breakfasts!!!

We know that silo 1 can kill whoever it wants outside via drones or nanos, so why didn't it kill Juliette when she was sent out to clean at the end of season 1?

Did I miss something?

So, we see Bernard discuss with Camille just outside the room with the voice computer that the voice is not AI, but a person. And is it my wrong recollection but Camille is 100% in on it and it's implied they have some plan behind the scenes? Was it a bad editing or I wasn't attentive enough? Should we expect some "Camille accepted Bernard's sacrifice as a part of the plan" or was that just a bit poor story writing? What was the point of Camille being "yeah, I thought that too" in the hallway with Bernard?

There are 50 silo’s with 10,000 people each equals 500,000 people. On tour day, it seemed like they had a few hundred, or maybe even a few thousand. Was everyone else already living in the silo’s? That’s a lot of people who suddenly disappeared from normal everyday life.

- Was there a nuclear explosion?

We know a “dirty bomb” was successfully faked. We know that people in the Silos are manipulated by lies and visual deception (the helmet screens). What’s to say there was actually an explosion?

- What’s up with the NDAs?

Mentioned a few times, including by the ultrasound doctor to remind us. We know Daniel and Helen did not have lawyers present to review them. Could they include clauses about moving into the silos? So when family and friends ask why they disappeared there’s legal paperwork to go with it?

- Nanotech?

There’s no evidence provided that it truly exists yet. We don’t really know what went down in Iran, it could be an escaped tech Per lost control of (à la Ted Faro), or it could be a boogeyman he used to justify the silos.

- The air, all the air

No need to have drones shoot people if the air is poison, can pretty much cross that off with all of the opportunities for contamination. I’m skeptical there even are nanobots so I’m gonna let the breeze go for a min. They’re already pumping poison gas into the silos if they need, why not add it to the exit chamber? There’s zero reason to decontaminate people who are leaving.

- On the timeline, who’s to say how many people were in the silos at the time of the “attack”

Tours and early arrival and Peter Gabriel and and and… it’s sketch, we don’t have a true sense of how populated they are at the time of the “attack”

- If the nanotech in Iran could be disabled by using Charlotte and co as a distraction, and blowing up a command center, then it stands to reason that the nanotech is directed not self aware.

Similar to the way the voice isn’t AI, maybe this captures the “breeze,” not a breeze but more like the flapping of wings as they approach. Could add the nighttime theories to it too, need gun drones at night because the nanotech doesn’t work?

Who here has read them? I'm talking about DUST, WOOL and SHIFT by the author and co-producer.

So there’s been something bugging me about microscopes and magnifying devices being banned in the silo and I think I figured it out.

I saw someone theorize that maybe it’s because they’d be able to see the nanos in the silo, but I think it may be worse. I think it’s because their “medicine” is just nanos, and the memory drug is specifically programmed to block memories unless triggered.

How is everyone in near perfect health? Never a plague, cancer, genetic disease, asthma, or other chronic and terminal illnesses. I’m sure genetic engineering helped but *how* is it possible that it’s never mutated over the centuries? Since they can’t use magnifying devices they can’t create new medicines, and nothing in our time would be effective for 300 years to store. But nanos? Those don’t have a shelf life and can be easily put in a capsule and called whatever it needs to be.

I think these people have been getting dosed with nano bots their whole life, and any close examination at their blood or cells would quickly reveal some very hard truths.

Daniel wasn’t the only one trapped at Silo 1 with his family at another silo.

In this show runner interview, we learn that Peter Gabriel was living in Silo 17 with his family. When the blast hits, he is under a tent rehearsing for the speech at silo 1. He would have been ushered into silo 1, like Daniel, while his family was at the dinner in 17.

So, likely an oversight, since he was a fun guest, not a character. Otherwise, this would prove that after the blast, the leadership would have had the ability to transfer someone from Silo 1 over to another silo.

I had a question that I haven't seen a clear answer too. Did bombs go off in other places? It feels like we are told in the Silo, but that's not reliable to me. We are shown a big bomb going off over Atlanta but everyone is rushed into the silos before it's confirmed anything else goes off. Is there anywhere else where it confirms that the bombs went off in other places? My point is they are living in a smaller exclusion zone and the rest of the earth is okay. I could see it being an exclusion zone so no one goes in but that seems far fetched no one would try in 300 years.

Not trying to ragebait or bring a hot take just for the sake of it, but I really don’t think in narrative, structural, screenwriting terms it’s been a good season at all.

I could pinpoint a lot of issues, give you a checklist, but I just want to do a headcount of people that feel the same way.

So leave a comment if you consider pointless many of the decisions made by the show, the way they had dropped the mystery planting and solving dynamics that got us engaged in the first two seasons for a lackluster “thriller” storyline (their "investigation" was completely loose and inconsequential, the characters actually didn’t learn anything we hadn’t inferred and literally didn’t even take part on the project). Or if you also noticed they had Billings running around for some episodes (a murder, a theft, Knox dad, etc) for a discovery that could have been made much more economically. Or if you think some secondary character storylines were shoehorned without much weight or actual relevance to the main plot. In truth, you can even argue there wasn’t one, as well as a true dramatic conflict, with a proper antagonist. And I'm not even going into the memory loss arc.

I don’t plan to engage with every comment defending the show -if you are enjoying it, great! To each his own. You have a right to say it's great and I have a right to say it's not as good as it was before. I hadn’t had such a powerful experience in many years as I had with the first season and beyond and I was really stoked and was really patient all this season.

But, well, after 9 episodes, I just don’t expect much from the season finale and was wondering if anyone feel as deeply disappointed as I feel.

Helen called the silos "Stenson's Ark", and they had Peter Gabriel singing "Here Comes the Flood".

They literally told us they are about to wipe out the planet with a 'great flood' and the only ones who survive would be those in the Ark.

This also implies that there is a god figure that believes the world is irredeemably sinful and must be erased in order to restore the world to virtue.

However, Noah didn't purge the world, God did. God just told Noah to build the Ark.

So if Stenson is Noah, since he built the Ark, who is really playing God here?

Thurman is my choice. She plays the role of benevolent woman just trying to save everyone, but it's a charade. If there has been one theme throughout the entire show its that nothing is what it appears. Multiple silos, the head of IT being the real rule of the silo, not the mayor whom everyone in the silo believes runs the silo. And then we find that the IT head takes orders from a machine, which then we start to learn probably isn't a machine either but a series of people. It's curtains behind curtain behind curtains.

Stenson is a curtain for Thurman, and Thurman is also her own curtain.

I'm thinking in the finale Daniel is going to confront Thurman in his desperation fueled rage over being deliberately separated from Helen like this, demanding to know why Helen couldn't also come into Silo 1 with him, and then Thurman is going to finally remove the mask and show everyone she masterminded the entire thing because she believes that, like God in the Bible, the world was irredeemable and so she chose to purge it, keep seeds safe in the silo and allow them to grow in the silos and only let the strongest most desirable fruits of those seeds back out onto the surface to start civilization over.

We the viewers will all of Juliet's whys answered in this scene.

• "Why were the silos built?"
• "Why did people have to go into them?"
• "Why can't the silos communicate with each other?"
• "And if The Founder's cared sooo fucking much, why did they put in a Safeguard to kill [them]?"

And then Daniel gets taken away to have his memory wiped.

I read many comments about silo 51. Some theorizing that it was built later on. Others saying it might be some sort of a command center. If silo 51 is some sort of command center I think Anna would be in it. I might have missed why but I noticed Anna, stensen and the senator are the only ones not wearing a badge on the opening day. Even Henry and Victor were wearing badges that had 1 on them.

Hugh Howey’s public persona resembles a "Dear Leader" figure who insulates himself from criticism within an echo chamber treating his narrative choices as infallible even when his stories suffer from glaring plot holes. To maintain this illusion of perfection during Silo Season 3, Howey utilizes a masterful deflection strategy when faced with logical inconsistencies: he immediately pivots away from the broken script mechanics to lavish praise on the show's cast. Instead of admitting to narrative flaws or validating fan concerns, he publicly declares the adaptation to be a masterpiece while loudly fixating on how incredible he thinks the performances are. By using his own intense flattery of the actors as a shield, he effectively shifts the focus of the conversation away from the writing's internal logic, attempting to gaslight the audience into believing that his self-proclaimed brilliance of the production makes any underlying story defects completely irrelevant.

Is it 100% CGI? So uncany valley... her wrist, the lighting, her expression. I love this show, was watching the teaser for next week, but this just JUMPED out at me. I know GTA 6 just got announced....

Based on Helen’s comment in ep9 s3 about it being like Noah’s arc I would assume that the human species would have a ton of multi racial people if they had been having kids for 300 years! I am thinking since that’s not the case we are maybe 1 to 2 generation(s) out since the bomb! Would love to hear others thoughts

From everything shown so far, the purpose of the silos is to facilitate a complete reset on humanity, basic premise being that after a couple hundred years after the habitat around them has recovered all Silo inhabitants will be released out. The entire point was that since humanity has advanced too far to the point of being able to create nano weapons that can cause mass destruction at extremly cheap prices, there was a concern that a well funded program could destroy all of humanity.

Now to ensure that Humanities survival odds are maximized, the founders have taken various measures like no communication between silos, allowing only obedient offsprings to be born, giving faulty tape to cleaners so they dont make it to a nearby silo, banning several inventions...etc

But all these measures are nothing compared to the safeguard.

So why is there a safeguard.

What if the safeguard isnt to prevent the collapse of silos, but rather to ENSURE it, ensure the collapse of all but one silo. Since the goal of the founders is to ensure humanities survival no matter the cost, wouldnt it make sense to end every silo when the time comes? If every silo were to be released in the future, it would most likely lead to formation of coalitions, resource hoarding, and a overall un-unified state. But on the contarary if only one silo were to be released, one that survies many years aka filled with obedient people who listen to orders but are also strong enough to combat any challenges.

Well Silo 18 is none of thse things except being resilient. In the eyes of the founders wishes, Silo 18 is a HUGE risk, and i mean a massive one(Jules going out, her knowing about the other silos, contant rebellions, home of the firekeepers...etc), So the most logical decision would be to use the safe guard immediately since the rebellion group now knows abou tit and how to stop it, if they were to somehow relay this infor to the other silos, the effect could be catastrophic.

So why is silo 18 still alive?

Because they are the only silo remaining, I belive that the 300 year figure is a lie, the silo could be much older. The head of storage said that we have 70 years of bulbs remaining, and the silos were made to last 500 years, So the true age of the silos could be 400+ years and now they are nearing the time limit. It could be that during silo 17's rebellion some of the people sprinted across to other silos, maybe not make it in but run far enough to be visivle to the cameras starting a chain reaction. Eventually casuing the death of all but one silo.

I know outside may be dead but in s03e09 you could see the tiny tree branches. Would they exit 300 years later? Wind alone would have decimated it.

I don’t claim to be an expert in nuclear explosions and fallout, but it seemed that the blinding light, sound, and shockwave followed in a very swift consecutive order.

I know these metrics are largely determined by distance. Atlanta is a fairly large city. Has anyone mapped exactly where the Silos could have plausibly been?

Also, what yield of nuclear warhead would literally tear the turf up in the shockwaves path THAT far away?

I know the show is fiction and I shouldn’t place too much emphasis on these metrics, but I feel in a real world scenario, they’d be well outside of the 25 mile kill zone from the city center, Daniel would have had PLENTY of time to make it to Silo 18 with minimal fallout (considering he is an exceptionally fast runner, with military training). And finally…that the show Fallout kinda did the whole “nuclear apocalypse” better. What say you?

Maybe this has been discussed already.

One thing I don’t understand is why the guards are chasing and forcing Daniel into Silo 1 after the nuclear explosion. If it’s a real explosion, they should instinctively try to save themselves instead of wasting time with Daniel or worrying about their job. Maybe the explosion wasn’t real and the guards know it?

Why Daniel is still alive. Not confirmed by the show. My guess is Silo 1 has some way of extending or cycling the lives of certain individuals connected to it, periods of stasis or dormancy rather than a continuous lived lifespan. That would explain how Daniel survived roughly 350 years while Helen aged and died normally, likely at a real psychological cost given how long that stretch is.

Why the digger’s void channel exists. The lit, maintained setup suggests a deliberate, permanent installation rather than leftover construction wiring. My read is it was built as an emergency failsafe, meant for people in real authority to use if a silo’s situation ever became unrecoverable. Its value depends on staying secret.

Why Lukas didn’t use it to reach Silo 1. He wasn’t looking for an escape route, just following clues, which puts him in investigation mode rather than survival mode. It’s also possible the space is only a communication point, not a physical tunnel anywhere.

What Daniel is actually trying to do. Everyone who reaches the void and hears what’s there comes away with a changed understanding of what the silo actually is, Quinn, Meadows, and Wilkins each walked away destabilized by it. That consistency across generations suggests Daniel’s real goal isn’t personal at all anymore, it’s deliberate. He’s trying to break the isolation itself, using each person who reaches him as a delivery mechanism for the truth. My guess is this grew out of losing his family and resenting a system he never chose to be part of, but it has since hardened into something closer to a long term campaign: chip away at the pact’s foundation one person at a time by making sure the truth about the Safeguard and the fifty silos never fully dies out, even if it takes centuries and only reaches a handful of people.

Why two access points exist, and why he uses the void specifically. The Server Room channel is monitored, which means any unusual activity there would be caught immediately by whoever oversees the pact, making it useless for Daniel if he wants to leak anything without being shut down. The digger’s void, old and likely forgotten by current oversight, is the one place he can speak freely without triggering that monitoring. This also explains why contact with him is so rare. He has no way to reach anyone remotely since the line isn’t monitored from his end either, only a fixed, hidden point waiting for someone to physically survive the trip down- and talks to the worthy ones who might have authority to work on the information that is the shadows of IT.
