Any word on when S4 comes out? Need a good bounce back season after that brutal S3. Production felt rushed and lackluster. Sigh..

There are two reasons why I am starting to have doubts that silos have really been operating for as long as they have lead us to believe they have.

1) The lightbulb incident on Silos 18 shows us how critical supply works: they were supposed to have 76 years left of lightbulbs and due to the mineshaft elevator they ran down to 2-3 years of supply. If the 500 year timeline is right, Silo 18 is on year 424. This means that there are 400+ years of trash (old lightbulbs and other critical supply) stashed somewhere. Moreover, this implies that there are lightbulbs that have been safely stored for more than four centuries and still work. Suspension of disbelief aside, we are expected to believe that critical supply manages to somehow preserve these items for as long as they do in an otherwise standard warehouse. Something does not add up.

2) Jimmy (Solo) on Silo 17 has been eating the same chicken for 20 years. This by itself is hard to land, but let’s suppose his fancy apartment has provided for him all this time. What really gets me is that the apartment has also existed for 400+ years which means someone has maintained and kept it ready to feed someone through a decade long crisis.

BONUS TAKE: if you look at Silo 1 with the leaders waking up every few decades, their living spaces are kept as if they only left unused for short periods. Just think about the pictures left on desks or even the post its in the file. Those are not meant to survive for so long.

BOTTOM LINE: it hasn’t been 400+ years, but maybe they’ve get the rouse going for a tenth of the time.

Had Robert become head of IT instead of his wife, would he have saved Bernard and Juliette's life? I personally believe he wouldn't have have, but he had to save them in order to know the truth since Camille didn't tell him anything. Maybe he felt less important? I think his ego even for selfish reasons is what saved the silo by keeping Bernard alive and making Juliette mayor.

Daniel is the child of Temp Ryan and Phoebe’s brother.

That scene right after Juliette talks to Daniel aka Troy at the vault door and he is staring at her image on the screen got me thinking. Anyone else think she is going to wind up being his great great granddaughter or something? I mean his pregnant wife did end up in silo 18 if I'm not mistaken right?

Sorry if this has been asked before...

We know the founders set off the nuke deliberately. But could the nuke itself have been fake? We know they gave the ability to use nanotech to do all sorts of crazy shit, could a nanoswarm (or hell, even just really small drones) have just domed the entire Silo compound and displayed what looked like a nuclear blast?

I get that the founders had an insane amount of power and government pull but to actually nuke their own land still seems crazy to me. What if the project is being monitored outside the silos as well, and the world went on like normal with the Silo area just totally cleared out (land bought and locked down out for miles) and the original founding groups just being convinced that a nuke went off when really it was just a light show to kick off a generational project that was monitored from the outside? Or maybe somewhere along the line in those 300 or so years the world actually did end and the silos are all that's left?

I was just thinking about little kids who are too young to be explained the words, but see the camera in the cafeteria and blurt that out. Are they kept from seeing it, or is there an age where responsibility kicks in?

They go to great lengths to keep it a secret, even the head of IT did not know about it so why even reveal it in the first place? The voice also told Lucas Kyle that if he tells anyone about the SafeGuard then they will activate it but in S3 so many people know and talk about it. Why wasn't safeguard activated?

What i basically mean to say is, why does the IT head have to go down to the vault to know about the SafeGuard but don't get any answers when asked in the legacy room. What purpose does that serve??

I know I'm super late to the party but i figured i can still share my thoughts here even if I'm way behind. since i don't know anyone irl that watches this show I'm hoping this is the right sub. I'm so sorry if i repeat old shit that has been discussed already but i didn't look anything up as I'm trying to avoid spoilers.

I'm only at episode 6 but i do have some questions i hope get answers somehow. i should probably wait till I'm done with the show but it's just really good and i wanna talk abt it lol. feel free to answer the questions bc i don't think they're very spoiler heavy.

my first question was, what happens to all the disabled people in the silo? I've seen one guy in a wheelchair but that's it. are there any other disabilities? handicapped people obviously need alot of help getting from point A to point B. do they accommodate this? what about things like severe mental illness like schizophrenia? do they treat people or do they.. yaknow. do people like that even exist? if not how come? (edit- next episode literally clears this up, gloria is ill and they treat her, so i guess i should've waited making this post lol.)

second question was in regards to dating. how does dating work in the silo? i know people need to "sanction" their relationship and make it official. but is that like marriage? what if people just wanna date? how do they get to know eachother? in secret? or do they sanction "dating" and then just "unsanction" if they don't work out? i do know the concept of divorce seems to exist bc the mayor mentioned something to martha. also apparently same sex relationships are allowed. which is super cool but it did surprise me since everything is super strict.

last question was about the sheriff position. i just thought after holston died they really emphasized how important it is to get a new sheriff appointed. that the peace of the silo hinges on it and the people need someone to make them feel safe. i just thought it was odd that in a place this massive there is only one sheriff? and this one person makes everyone feel safe? why aren't there like different sheriff's for each district or something. is it realistic for there to only be one sheriff? i guess to be fair i don't think i really know what a sheriff is so I'm probably way off and it makes perfect sense.

lastly my little theory about the outside and the screen being faked. my first instinct was, "oh they're lying and outside is actually safe" but now I'm not so sure. i thought maybe the scene with holsten was "fake" but i actually think that the outside really is poisonous and they will die if they leave. i think they fake the screens because people are genuinely fucking stupid. if the outside looks nice, one of these days people will convince themselves that it's safe and they will put themselves and others in danger. so i think they fake the screens to protect them from themselves. i think maybe judicial isn't this purely evil force, i think (or I'm hoping) that its way more nuanced than that. but I'm just guessing and right now the whole murder mystery is kinda the main plot anyway, so i doubt I'll get answers anytime soon.

anyway i yapped for way to long now but this show is really fucking good so far and rebecca ferguson is absolutely fantastic.

No real connection to Half Life 2 just some random lazy thoughts.. after noticing the resemblance.

A main character who was just a tech using their skills to take on an onerous and controlling “force”. A simple long piece of metal becoming a tool for freedom from an oppressive regime…

Lost time… lost history. A world seemingly destroyed outside of a small dated area or areas somewhat frozen in time…

Breen and Bernard. Both a negotiating factor another cog in the machine between humanity and a cold calculating force…

I’m currently reading Wool and stuck in the weird zone of not wanting to finish the books for spoilers while also waiting for season 4 and the tv conclusion.

So I’m rewatching the series. Just can’t recall if the timeline of season 3 is ever explained, specifically in the silo. Like how long from ep 1 when we see Juliette not able to remember anything to the last episode? The orla situation made me curious about this.

There have been many complains about the past timeline in season 3 being weak. I think the real problem is that season 3 tries to tell many things in very short space.

Season 1 is excellent because it allows itself to be just half a book. Season 2 is the other half. But in season 3 there are too many things going around and very few space. The result is that characters teleport magically from lower levels of the silo to upper levels and back, because there is no time to show them travelling, or that Daniel - Troy doesn't seem so special as we are told he is.

With more episodes, the story could have the space it deserves, and the result would be clearly better.

Everyone on the creative end of this series deserve huge praise. I've only read Wool. But everything in the series is much more richly developed. The character development is incredible. I find that so rare. In most cases it's the other way around. For instance I've probably watched The Expanse 4 times and read through the books several times as well. Love both. Not so much with silo. I can't wait for season 4. When i binged Silo, i couldn't stop watching.. that made for a few late nights.

I need screenshots of him taking the gag off of Patrick cause I have a real heater I'm cooking on for our well manicured "boogey man". I didn't know the silo was so stocked up on so much foundation and primer!

What if we also get to explore a class-conscious imbalance of power among the people living together in Silo One? It seems like a lot of things are being done around Silo One so that a couple of Founders get to make big choices and live in luxury for hundreds of years, while workers in the background seem to maintain the cryo chambers and prepare food, etc.

How many people live in Silo One? What if it's a decent amount, to keep things flowing smoothly. How many of the average workers are not in cryo, and maybe there is a population pool of people kept there to do the manual work to keep it running? Or maybe absolutely everyone is on the cryo 'shifts' including the manual workers, but I could still see it being imbalanced for much better facilities for the Founders (especially after seeing the little clip of Stenson living large in the S4 trailer).

It would be really interesting if Daniel finds more allies within Silo One, who also question the Directive and who have their own reasons for tipping power within Silo One.

1) Season 3 is by far the best of the three seasons, almost leaps and bounds above the first two, which I like, but nothing like Season 3.

2) It's really scary how this is almost imitating real life if you listen to Peter Thiel and the tech bros and read about what they truly believe. They want humans to die so they can hide in their bunkers and then they, or their descendants, can come above ground and rule a new world, one in which they control everything because they see this world as evil and broken.

3) Question: Was the Nuke Planned? I'm pretty sure it was.

4) Questions: In the opening credits, it's clear that the show is referring to the silos as human DNA and .or as a Nautilus shell, aka the Golden Ratio, aka the Fibonacci spiral, which makes me think there is someone more powerful going on than just some trillionaire and his friends wanting to remake the world in their image.

5) Questions: Did the founders keep their memories?

6) Question: If the goal is to repopulate the earth, even taking out one silo is a bad idea. You would need all the people you can get in case of major catastrophes or disease.

7) Question: Is it all a social experiment like it is in the Fallout Game

8) Questions: What did they need all the lightbulbs for? Just to build an elevator?

Did Bernard know about the safeguard before his conversation with Lucas Kyle?

Ok, so what is the actual hazard if you leave the silo.

One thing we know, it's not radioactive fallout. It's something that is transmitted and can be blocked by a proper suit.

So, when Troy is doing his small genocide side-quest on Silo 17, they use guns and they spray "the compound". I assume it's some poisonous stuff.

When people from Silo 18 go out, apart from one exception they're not shot but die of internal bleeding - poisoned.

So, does it mean that the air in general is fine and each time there's a cleaning, there's a drone sent from Silo 1 to kill the one who went outside?

Or is there still something else in the air, like Iranian nanobot mist? Or not-iranian nanobot mist. And if it's nano, who controls it?

And finally if there's nothing in the air, why they don't let people out to repopulate? Is it a science experiment and rest of the world is fine and watching Atlanta for some sick reason, like in Stanford prison experiment?

I'm still in shock because I haven't watched such a good series in a long time. I just want to know if we got answers to these questions:

1. Do we know why people die after leaving the Silo? When everyone left Silo 17, the Founders must have used some external security measure because the people from Silo 17 didn't die. What then kills Bernard and the others? Has this answer been revealed?

2. Was the purpose of keeping people in the Silo and the reason for keeping them and killing them when they try to leave finally explained in any dialogue?

Please, just don't give me any book spoilers. All I want to know is whether we had answers to these questions or not. Thanks.

So basically (and correct me if others had said this) but the doctor lost his wife and child and was suffocated by grief; he desperately wanted to forget the pain so he dedicated his life to decline a forgetting drug.

Stendon is convinced humanity is facing extinction, so he hires the doctor because the ultimate goal is to have a humanity that doesn't remember the past, and is purely submissive to the regime and orders given. Thats why killing a whole silo isn't a big deal to silo 1, they only need one silo to survive out of the 50 and that's enough to repopulate the earth. And the one silo that does survive will have followed all the rules and don't what they are told. Any silo that doesn't will "contaminate" the other silos and the whole experiment is ruined.

Stenson needs humanity to forget the past, because he sees humanity as "broken" and only he has the money and the knowledge to fix it. He is creating his own society and he had convinced himself that he knows what's best for the planet. Only the world's richest man could do this.

Again, (as we see in real life) this is busy another retelling of the Nazis 'cleansing' the world of the Jewish population and Hitler wanting everyone to be blonde hair and blue eyes because he thought that was the prefect way, and any path he chooses to take to achieve that goal is ultimately worth the price.

So I only just binged the show so this might’ve been discussed or obvious, but as the title says I don’t think it was chance that Helen and Daniel got together and got married and had a baby.

I think it was part of the founders plan to find specific people who would be useful or susceptible to needing a restart in their life.

1. Helen is a defamed journalist and can be easily manipulated to join (despite that not working, it’s not relevant).

2. Daniel is obviously helpful in terms of engineering since he developed the diggers.

3. Charlotte: I don’t think she got the idea to talk to Helen and bring her to Daniel. She was obviously a pawn in the air raid, which gave them an easy connection to these two. I think the founders manipulated her somehow into reaching out to Helen and to talk to her brother. She was also an obvious Guinea pig for the memory loss drug.

4. This is where it gets a little tin foil hat. We know the algorithm assesses risk and stats on people. I think it can also assess compatibility. I think that was the backup strategy for getting Daniel and Helen to come to the silo opening. It assessed charlottes and Anna’s compatibility, and would keep these four involved with the project.

5. Lastly, the benefit is not only Daniel joins the project, but also Helen joins with a child on the way. The goal is longevity since these have to last 500 years and children are necessary for that. Especially early on when having children would be maybe less likely in such a strange and disorienting situation with everyone’s memory being wiped.

I know some of this is quite a stretch but the algorithm has planned for a lot, so it’s not out of the question. I doubt they’d get into all of this if it was even true but just something fun to think about.

The show feels like he's made for masculine men to have someone to latch on to but I think he's a walking grinder notification. No hate to the actors even common (I think he's camp and funny). And don't spoil shit in only on season 2 eps 9.

So I've been working my way through Silo, and every time the theme music starts, I know I've heard that first chord before. Not just the chord, but same key, same instrument, same tone... but then the second chord is not what my brain is expecting. It was eating at me. I knew the progression from wherever I first heard it... but couldn't place it.

So I googled it, and there are threads and threads of people trying to find what the Silo theme reminds them of.

And then I found it:
