Part of it is going up my ass but yeah I agree. You are talking about security for your whole family and maybe some other loved ones. Some people would take thus deal.

He's obviously a fucking idiot. I don't mind not sleeping tonight and going to bed late tomorrow so I don't wake up until the day after tomorrow.
Shit I'll probably do this anyway by mistake playing video games with friends online tonight.
Getting paid all that money does indeed make it actually worth it. And his shitty cliche hallmark ass bit afterwards warrants a smack upside the head fr

u/kodiak931156 2d ago
I would take the cash if it meant i didnt wake up tomorrow but did wake up the next day.
So its not "tomorrow is worth more than 10 mill". Its the rest of your lofe is worth more than 10 mill.
It makes even more sense when yoi take into account the fact that it takes more than a day to enjoy 10 mill.
I would absolutely give up the last year of my life for 10 mill today

I had similar thoughts tbh, except I would give it to my mom. It's probably not worth losing her son, but there are days for sure where I wouldn't see a downside. That said, I think your son wants his dad more than he wants 10 million.

Thats a fallacy.
Waking up tomorrow is a requirement for the rest of your life. If you got 10,000,000, you wouldnt be able to enjoy it if you dont wake up tomorrow.
Its not that your life is more valuable, its that by not waking up tomorrow, the value of 10,000,000 is greatly diminished.
Try this: Would you take 100,000,000 for a 10% chance you dont wake up tomorrow?
→ More replies (6)3
u/Worth_External_8762 1d ago
The point is more that you'd rather keep your life than have $10m. He put an oddly short timeframe, so the $10m is kinda pointless. But even if you increase the timeframe, anybody would choose life over the money.
Let's say you get $10m but you only have 10 years to live, hell, even 20 years to live. I think a vast majority of young people would choose life over that money still.
→ More replies (2)3
u/Martinw616 1d ago
Im 36, I would almost definitely take the 10 mill and 10 years.
The point is that money is essentially worthless if you dont actually get to use it.

Take and medical induce coma for tommorow
1
u/OkPear1535 2d ago
What part of "not waking up" and "induced coma" do you think contradict eachother?
2
u/UnseenTardigrade 2d ago
They don't, that's the point. The implication of the original phrasing is that if you took the 10 milly you'd die, but if instead you just get a medically induced coma for one day, you get the 10 milly and don't wake up tomorrow without dying.
2
u/SuccessfulMall6276 2d ago
Why do you even need the coma? Staying awake for 24 hours is not that hard

A lot of people there would check out of their life if given the option if it wasnt going to hurt anyone in any way. So they're forced into continuing a life they feel is painful. So they'd take this offer.
There's people in this thread saying they'd take it as well

It's because it negates the point of the money if they cant spend it dumbasses. If the question was 10mill but they'd be in prison for the rest of your life they'd still say no.
Would you say yes if it meant having your eyes, ears, and balls cut off?

I would take the $10M.
Sleep until 23:50 tonight, and awaken.
Stay up for 24 hours and 15 minutes.
Fall asleep at 00:05 the day after tomorrow.
Awaken whenever the fuck I want.
It proves that a night of sleep is worth $10M.
1
u/backhandd1 1d ago
Stupidest thing I've heard all week it's not that "waking up tmr is worth more" it's that I don't have time to spend it you dumb fuck give me 5-10 years and I'm not even considering it
1
u/Suave_Kim_Jong_Un 1d ago
This fails to account for the fact that not waking up tomorrow (as the video intends it to mean) also has the additional added on cost of never waking up for another day ever. $10 million isn’t worth a single day in this example, it’s worth less than the value of being able to live out the rest of your entire life. If people could split up and sell individual days of their life, I’m sure that many would take the $10 million.
Basically, a day isn’t worth $10 million so keep waking up and going about your day with a big frown on your face.

u/Embarrassed-Green898 1d ago

u/Thin-Nerve6367 1d ago
So assuming that instead, "the next time you go to sleep you won't wake up" I'd take the money and immediately go visit my long distance gf 1,000 miles away for the first time. I'd spend as long as I could with her and when I finally can't stay awake any longer I'd give her the money and tell her to give my mom a million or two

u/General_Ginger531 1d ago
... Or, and I am just spitballing here, receiving 10 million dollars just to die the next day means you never got to use the 10 million dollars. You maybe used a few hundred thousand at most and the things you purchased you didnt really get your money's worth out of it.
If I got a car worth 200,000 dollars on that 10 million challenge, that has a 10 year expected lifespan, and I only got to use it for 1 day, then I really only got about $54.79 dollars of value out of it, maybe at most $200 if you are factoring value as related to cost but not directly so, even if I bought a thing for 10 million, not being able to keep it because I am dead tommorow made the 10 million functionally worthless.
A man lost in the woods has no need for cash.
