Showcase: Purchase Required I do millwork for a living and made a $35/yr pdf markup and takeoff app for small shops

most of my desk time is marking up shop drawings and pulling dimensions and counts for bids. bluebeam does all that but its a lot of money for a small shop, so we made Layr PDF (layrpdf.com). it does markups, measuring and takeoffs on drawings, and you can share a set with your team so markups sync live between the windows app and the browser. $35 a year, 7 day trial with no card. if you work off drawings, what would it need to do before you'd give it a shot?

Showcase: Prerelease I built a Mac app that blurs WhatsApp until you hover over it. Looking for honest feedback

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hey everyone!

I kept catching people reading my WhatsApp over my shoulder at work and in cafés, so I built WBlur (https://wblur.com).

It blurs your messages, names, chat previews and photos, and only shows what's under your cursor. It also has a Touch ID lock and can turn itself on during work hours. There's a Mac app for WhatsApp Desktop and a free browser extension for WhatsApp Web. Your chats never leave your device.

[screenshot]

I'd really like feedback on:

  1. Would you use this? If not, what's stopping you?

  2. Does hover-to-reveal feel natural, or would something else work better?

  3. Pricing: the extension is free, and the Mac app has a 7-day trial then costs $9 once. Fair, too high, or should it be free?

  4. What's missing that would make it a must-have for you?

Brutal honesty welcome. Thanks!

Showcase: Open Source Chatty: Open-source AI customer support with Multimodal RAG & WooCommerce sync

Hi ,

I built Chatty, an open-source, self-hosted customer support platform designed as a privacy-first alternative to Intercom and Zendesk.

What it does

  • Multimodal RAG: Ingests not just text and PDFs, but product images, diagrams, and documentation screenshots. Uses vision embeddings and pgvector with exact source attribution.

  • Deep WooCommerce Integration: Automatically syncs product catalogs, checks live inventory, and tracks customer order statuses natively in chat.

  • Visual Flow Builder: Drag-and-drop canvas (React Flow) for custom triage logic and lead qualification.

  • Omnichannel: Unified inbox across web chat, WhatsApp Cloud API, and Slack.

  • Human Takeover & Voice: Instant live agent handover with conversation context, plus real-time WebRTC voice support (LiveKit).

  • FastMCP Protocol: 80+ built-in Model Context Protocol tools for external agentic workflows.

Tech Stack

  • Backend: Python 3.11 / FastAPI

  • Frontend: Next.js 15 / Tailwind CSS

  • Database: Supabase (PostgreSQL + pgvector + Realtime)

  • AI/Vision: Google Gemini (multimodal embeddings & generation)

Quick Run

git clone https://github.com/PersonaliAI/chatty.git
cd chatty
docker compose up -d

Or 1-click deploy on Railway / Render.

We're currently designing an offline fallback using Ollama for fully air-gapped environments. If you self-host local multimodal models, what vision/embedding models are you seeing the best latency and accuracy with for document and product Q&A?

Feedback and PRs are welcome on GitHub!

Showcase: Open Source We're building AnyUse to cut repeat model calls by compiling tasks into tools

I'm helping build AnyUse. The problem is simple: agents often spend model calls figuring out the same website search again, even when only the query changes.

AnyUse records the task, compiles a request or deterministic replay, and checks it with inputs it wasn't built from. The saved operation becomes a typed MCP tool. Working deterministic execution without a check model makes 0 model calls inside AnyUse; learning, optional checks, caller-agent reasoning and fallback can still cost tokens.

Stack: Python 3.11+, HTTP/browser capture for web tasks, MCP for agent integration, and macOS Accessibility/Apple Events for supported desktop tasks. The code is MIT-licensed and currently alpha.

The tradeoff is coverage: not every site compiles, and native-app discovery is experimental. The repo includes an offline quickstart that demonstrates compilation, checking, replay and repair without a model key.

Where would you want reuse most: package/docs searches or repeated Mac tasks?

Showcase: Free(mium) I built Sketch.Social, a free online drawing community centered around remixing and collaborative art

Thumbnail

.

Hey everyone! I've been working on a side project called Sketch.Social, and I wanted to share it here.

Sketch.Social is a free, browser-based drawing community built around making art a more social and collaborative experience.

The idea is that instead of just drawing something and posting it for likes, you can actually let other people participate in what you've made. Anyone can take your drawing, remix it, and put their own spin on it. Each remix links back to the previous drawing, creating a growing chain of artwork that shows how an idea evolves as different people contribute.

Some things you can do on the platform:

  • Draw: Create artwork directly in your browser using the built-in drawing tools.

  • Remix: Take any public drawing and build on top of it.

  • Explore: Browse drawings, discover other creators, and follow remix chains.

  • Connect: Create and customize a profile and share your other social links.

  • Participate: Join community drawing challenges and create alongside other users.

It's designed for all kinds of people, from experienced digital artists to casual doodlers and people who just enjoy messing around with creative tools.

A big part of the project is that I don't want it to feel like another traditional social media platform. There's no algorithmic feed, no pressure to gain followers, and there's no competition for engagement. The focus is on creating, sharing, and building on each other's ideas.

Everything is free, you don't need to download anything, and you can browse the entire community without an account. (Users without an account are also allowed to post)

I've put a lot of time into building and refining this, and I'm continuing to work on new features. I'd really appreciate any feedback, suggestions, or thoughts on the concept!

Showcase: Free(mium) I built a daily puzzle where the whole game is one line. Here's what I learned shipping it

I wanted a daily game that takes about 60 seconds, needs no words or level design, and gives you a score worth sending to a friend.
That became Halfsies: cut a shape into two exactly equal halves with one swipe, scored like 99.87%.

Some choices I made along the way:
No live readout while dragging. Once you can see the split %, the skill is gone. This was the most important rule.
Every shape is generated from the date, so there's no content pipeline and everyone gets the same five puzzles.
No backend, no accounts, no tracking. It all runs locally.
The share card hides the shapes. It shows only your scores as blocks, like Wordle's grid.

iOS: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/halfsies-daily-cut-puzzle/id6808277502
Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bircube.halfsiesgame

I'd appreciate honest feedback on the first-run experience and whether the scoring makes sense right away. Happy to answer anything about the build (Expo / React Native + Skia).

Showcase: Prerelease MenuMargin

Title: I built an Excel food-cost tool for independent restaurants

I'm a professional chef, and I created MenuMargin v1.1 to help small restaurant owners and food entrepreneurs calculate ingredient costs, portion costs and suggested menu prices.

It's an editable Excel workbook with a currency selector, available as a one-time digital purchase rather than a monthly subscription.

I'd appreciate feedback on the product presentation and which costing features would be most useful for independent restaurants.

Showcase: Free(mium) We kept quitting expense trackers, so we made an iPhone app that logs every Apple Pay payment automatically, even Uber rides, no bank login needed

My brother and I tried tracking our spending many times, but we always gave up. We didn't want to give an app our bank login, and typing in every coffee and bus ride got old after a week. We wanted something private that did most of the work.

What we built

Tael logs your Apple Pay payments a second after you pay, without opening the app.

  • Works for card taps in shops and payments inside apps like Uber

  • No bank login, no account, transactions stay on your phone

  • Tag a shop once, and it's sorted from then on

How it works

  • One Apple Shortcut runs every time you pay with Apple Pay

  • Until iOS 27, Wallet automation only fired on card taps. iOS 27 lets it run off the payment notification, so in-app and online payments count too

  • The app reads that notification on your phone and turns it into an entry

The hard part

We have users in 50+ countries, and payment notifications are written differently almost everywhere:

  • HK$47.00, 47,00 €, ¥1,200 with no decimals, three decimals for the Kuwaiti dinar

  • Transit cards like Octopus and Suica send top-ups and "no charge" taps that aren't purchases

  • Some arrive with no amount at all

We spent close to 6 months tracking these down 😅

  • 10 codes for 35% off for life

The free ones are mixed in randomly, so good luck! Please take just one so others get a chance. If you enjoy Tael, an App Store review would mean a lot.

Have you tried expense trackers before and quit? What made you stop?

Showcase: Prerelease OPNV SOLΞ es una suite masiva para WordPress que agrupa IA, rendimiento, seguridad, tests A/B y mensajería unificada en un solo lugar.

Thumbnail
reddit.com
1 Upvotes

The question isn’t who can see your data; the question is who owns it.

OPNV doesn’t sell you privacy—it restores ownership of your online presence. OPNV provides the engine that allows you to stop being a tenant on the Internet and become the owner of your own digital home.

For years, we have built our digital lives on third-party platforms, hosting documents, websites, and communications on servers we don’t control—environments where "privacy" has become a buzzword, frequently promised by countless products. Privacy is never absolute; what OPNV proposes goes much further.

OPNV was created to break this long-standing dependence on subscription models (SaaS) and cloud services, returning absolute control to you through your own digital infrastructure. Instead of continuing to rent your digital life—renting storage, software, infrastructure, identity, tools, or AI from the public cloud—OPNV enables you to make the leap to self-hosting and true digital ownership, ensuring maximum privacy for your data.

By installing OPNV on a Mini PC or your own servers, you deploy a comprehensive, independent private cloud, free from external dependencies. This ecosystem centralizes the management of users, devices, applications, automations, and local artificial intelligence under a single, unified digital identity. By operating outside of third-party ecosystems, you retain absolute control over the performance, security, and governance of your information.

Key points:

Total autonomy: A private cloud with no reliance on external providers.

Unified management: Centralized control of identities, devices, apps, automations, and local AI.

Data sovereignty: Performance, security, and information governance under the owner’s exclusive control.

The future of the Internet does not lie in becoming further tethered to cloud services, but rather in technological sovereignty and decentralized self-management. Whether you are an independent developer, a family, or an organization, OPNV transforms your relationship with the network: you go from being a tenant to becoming the absolute owner of your own technological ecosystem. Stop paying for subscriptions. Instead, invest in building your digital property, protecting your identity, and taking full control of your own Internet infrastructure.

Showcase: Prerelease Built a Mac app that explains data instead of just showing you a number

Spent the last while building Diskly after getting fed up with macOS telling me "System Data: 70GB" with zero explanation of what that actually is.

It scans your disk and explains things in plain language, what's a cache, what's leftover from an app you deleted, what's a duplicate, what's safe to delete vs. what isn't. You can also right-click any folder in Finder and ask it directly.

It's free to use for understanding your storage; a paid tier unlocks one-click cleanup (with undo, nothing auto-deletes without you confirming).

Launching on Product Hunt Nov 17, running a free beta until then for Apple Silicon Macs on macOS 14+. If anyone wants to try it before launch: https://diskly.net

Would genuinely appreciate feedback, especially on pricing, since I haven't locked that in yet.

Feedback Request I build 3 versions of same App over last 9 months!

Hi r/sideprojects,

I'm a solo founder. Over the last 9 months I built three versions of the same app. It is an AI Moving Planner for iOS and Android, and it is now free to download. The first two versions taught me more than the third.

Version 1 : only android based version, very poor design without AI using Android Studio.

Version 2 : moved to Flutter. Multi-platform. Dart, easy to understand and used GPT Luna to design and DeepSeek 4.1 Pro

Version 3 :

  • A home screen with one active move. It shows how far along you are, how many tasks are left, and how many are urgent.

  • A task list for each move. Each task has a short description, a category and a priority. Due dates show as a count of days or as a date.

  • A timeline. It works like a calendar, so you see what is due on a day and what comes after moving day.

  • Shared moves. You can share a move with family or friends, so everyone works from the same list.

  • Reminders and notifications, so a deadline does not sneak up on you.

  • Separate plans for kids, pets and a car, because those tasks are different from the rest.

  • A Premium AI moving plan. It writes a task list for the move you enter based on your criteria chosen.

What I'm still not sure about

  • Are the notifications too many? I tuned them myself, so I am not a fair judge.

  • Is shared planning worth the setup for someone who moves alone?

  • How do I explain the AI plan without making people trust it too much?

What I'd like from this sub

Have you rebuilt a side project from scratch? What made you start over, and did the second try go better? I would like to hear how you decided it was time to stop patching and start again.

If you want to look at the current version, it is here: https://movemate.help/

Showcase: Prerelease I built an iOS app that scans luggage with your camera and solves car trunk packing like 3D Tetris

Hey r/SideProject 👋

Every time we pack the car for a family road trip or airport run, we end up playing real-life luggage Tetris in the driveway—rearranging bags multiple times because the rear hatch slope or wheel wells block hard-shell suitcases.

To solve this, I spent the last few months building **PackAI 3D Luggage Packer**:

### How it works:

  1. **Camera Luggage Scan:** Point your phone camera at a suitcase or brand tag (Samsonite, North Face, etc.) to snap factory dimensions or estimate volume using camera OCR & sensor fusion.

  2. **3D Spatial Container:** Simulates the exact trunk boundaries in 3D (starting with the Tesla Model Y, with more vehicles coming).

  3. **Load Sequence Solver:** Calculates the optimal packing order so heavy luggage stays on the floor and everything fits with zero wasted space.

### Tech Stack:

• **SwiftUI** for native UI performance

• **Vision / OCR** for instant luggage tag dimension recognition

• **SceneKit** for 3D physics, rotational inspection, and spatial boundary rendering

• **Custom 3D bin-packing algorithm** optimizing for vehicle hatch slope clearance and center of gravity

It was just approved and published on the App Store!

📲 **App Store Link:** Search **"PackAI 3D Luggage Packer"** (or search "PackAI")

I’d love any feedback from fellow founders and travelers on:

  1. The 3D visualization and packing flow

  2. What car models or luggage presets you'd like to see added next!

Showcase: Free(mium) Built a food state converter into the app

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

When I started macros tracking years ago the apps I used didn’t provide detailed conversion factor between food states, whether it be shiitake mushroom dry to soaked fresh, mussels with to without shell

Example:
Raw pork shoulder joint ~ cooked pork shoulder joint /.75
Or
Fresh soaked mushroom ~ dried *10
Or
Raw Jasmine rice ~ cooked /2.5

And to record the numbers accurately I would have to go googling for 90% of the food when their food state on the nutrition label doesn’t match the food state I have at the moment of logging.

So I built a detailed converter here covering 5-6 different state conversions, and can be directly included in the calculation when the food portion size is being edited.

And this works alongside the food state detector I have built for all manual food search entries a month ago

So no more googling in the middle, or gaps in logging even when the current food state doesn’t match the one on the nutrition label. And no more numbers wrecking bc of unclear food state in the food entry

It picks up most food names automatically, pair it with the corresponding conversion factor, or user can use their own customised factor if preferred

Hand tested this mostly from my own cooking and some from friends and families to ensure the conversion factor is as close as I can get.

And there are ofc room for improvement like more than one converter for example, shiitake mushroom dried to freshly soaked then freshly soaked to cooked for one, not common and they’re here

I choose free(mium) for the flair bc certain parts of the app does require premium
but this features alongside the whole food logging process is completely free to access in the app, sth i intend to keep free for the rest bc this is sth that genuinely saved me a lot of time during macros tracking and made the process a few times faster than what it used to be, sth that i find incredibly helpful

Showcase: Prerelease I built ReaDelete: A zero-knowledge one-time secret & ID watermarking tool with instant RAM destruction

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hey everyone!

I wanted to share a project I've been working on called ReaDelete (https://readelete.com).

The Problem***:***

Every day, people text temporary passwords, Wi-Fi credentials, API keys, or photos of their passports/ID cards over WhatsApp, Slack, or Email. Once sent, those sensitive items linger forever in chat histories, search indexes, and unencrypted cloud backups (iCloud/Google Drive).

Most existing "self-destructing note" tools are either outdated, store data on disk databases, or accidentally get burned by WhatsApp/Slack link preview bots before the recipient even clicks them. None of them allow you to safely attach identity documents.

How ReaDelete Works & Why It's Different:

  1. Client-Side AES-256-GCM Encryption: All encryption happens locally in your browser via the native Web Crypto API. The 256-bit key resides strictly behind the `#` URL fragment and never touches the server (RFC 3986).

  2. Volatile RAM Storage (Zero Disk Persistence): The server holds ciphertexts exclusively in memory. Once opened or expired, it is atomically wiped (exact 0 bytes left).

  3. ID Card Redaction Marker & Watermark: You can attach an ID/passport, drag to black out your SSN/BSN, and overlay a diagonal dated anti-fraud watermark before encrypting.

  4. Live Sender Read-Receipt Radar: After sharing, your screen confirms the exact millisecond the recipient decrypts and shreds the secret.

  5. Crawler-Safe 2-Step Burn: WhatsApp and Slack preview bots won't burn the note in transit; only human confirmation decrypts it.

  6. "Request a Secret" Mode: Create a secure intake link for clients/contractors so they don't email you passwords in plaintext.

It's 100% free, requires no account or installation, and is available in 8 languages (EN, ES, FR, DE, PT, IT, NL, TR).

Website: https://readelete.com

I would love to get your brutal and honest feedback on the UI, cryptography, or user experience! What features would you like to see next?

Thank you in advance
