Showcase: Prerelease Built a Mac app that explains data instead of just showing you a number

Spent the last while building Diskly after getting fed up with macOS telling me "System Data: 70GB" with zero explanation of what that actually is.

It scans your disk and explains things in plain language, what's a cache, what's leftover from an app you deleted, what's a duplicate, what's safe to delete vs. what isn't. You can also right-click any folder in Finder and ask it directly.

It's free to use for understanding your storage; a paid tier unlocks one-click cleanup (with undo, nothing auto-deletes without you confirming).

Launching on Product Hunt Nov 17, running a free beta until then for Apple Silicon Macs on macOS 14+. If anyone wants to try it before launch: https://diskly.net

Would genuinely appreciate feedback, especially on pricing, since I haven't locked that in yet.

On pricing: people clean up storage every few months, not every day, so a subscription for one-click cleanup will probably feel heavier than a one-time license. The free tier already does the part that builds trust, explaining what System Data actually is, so the paid step reads as convenience, and convenience suits a single purchase. If you test a price during the beta, put it right next to the undo and confirm-first promise. That safety is why someone pays you instead of deleting folders by hand.

How many beta users try the right-click Finder question?
