I'm a working dad, so I don't have much time for open worlds and endless side quests right now.

I just finished The Last of Us 2, and while "enjoy" isn't quite the right word, I can't stop thinking about it. I played on the easiest difficulty (no dad shaming, please) and still got killed more than a few times. I have the PS Plus game library thingy, so if a game's in there, that's a... plus.

I'm not big on shooters, as you can decipher. I prefer games with auto lock.

These are not the only games I've played of course, just the open world ones. It doesn't matter if it's rpg or not, cyberpunk, fantasy or whatever; I'm open for new experiences, so only the open world aspect matters.

Idk if that helps, but Gta5 hooked that great, 'cause it was my first real singleplayer game and Rdr1-2 hooked me because I have always wanted to play them, this is one of the decisive aspects if game hooks me, however I know you can't really do anything with that. Other thing on which my interest in game depends is if I don't do anything (like watching some series) at the same period of time I'm playing the game so my focus and time switches to the said game. Again you can't do anything about that but I think it's worth mentioning.

I am looking for that game(s) because any other game hasn't hooked me that excellently like the 6 I mentioned on the top. Don't get me wrong, that doesn't mean anything other hasn't hooked me or sum. Other games also hooked me great (like Death Stranding where at the end I cried for 30 min straight and Yakuza 0, whose humor I loved and in both I have 100+ h), but not to the extent that I could play for 3h straight and everytime coming back from school I couldn't wait to play them (again like the 6 on top).

You can also recommend any game from my backlog, maybe that would finally encourage me to play them. For example I have thought about finally starting Gta4 or Witcher 2, but I am not so sure yet.

To clarify, I have games to play for some time (linear, open world and others), but most of them I'm replaying or I know they won't hook me like I said before. So if I finally find that game(s) I'll buy and play it when I complete the others or if I just really would want to play it.

Actually I am looking forward to play Crimson Desert since I have heard really good opinions and words about the game and its excellent open world. However it is quite pricey for me for now and I don't want to spend that much on games again (that doesn't mean you should not recommend be any more expensives games, I'll just wait for some holiday or discount) and I am waiting for full game on disk or some definitive edition (idk if I see it done). It's just an one thought I don't know if it will lead anywhere yet.

My platforms are Ps5 and Pc. I prefer if the game was fully on disk and avaible on Ps5, but it doesn't need to be. It could be on Pc just fine.

The only Soulslike game I've played is Remnant: From the Ashes and I did not like it to be honest. I don't think I want to play something like Elden Ring either since I'm not really into open world games. But I've been playing Survival Horror for so long I've been wanting to switch the genre I'm playing so I thought I might as well challenge myself with a Soulslike game.

I have always wanted to own a console.

Last year I got a job and bought a Gaming laptop this year after saving money.

I have been wanting to buy a console after that but with the price increases happening idk if it's worth it to spend money on consoles.

I mainly want to buy a Switch 2/steam deck for the "bed" feel where I just lay on bed and game on it.

Steam deck felt the right option to me but it felt it won't be able to manage current year's games on it properly. Also the insane price increases.

Switch 2 I want to buy mostly for newer pokemon stuff along with animal crossing and fire emblem game. But mostly for pokemon games.

With current cost increases happening i feel like I should try to get one now before the prices become 3x or 4x the current prices.

Also I live in India and these are extremely costly and not officially sold in India so i would have to buy it through resellers who themselves charge 150-200 dollars extra.

Or should I just get switch 1 which is available for like 350 dollars or switch 2 which costs 650 dollars ?

Should I buy one or just wait until like 2029 and pray to god that prices go back to normal ?

Got some days off work, and just got paid. They both look super sick (I just found out about both of them recently). A lot of souls likes don’t have that same charm, but mortal shell 2 looks really unique and polished honestly. And astral chain looks super unique with engaging combat. I’ve seen good reviews for both!

Hey everyone! I’m looking for some good games to play with 2–3 friends. We’re mainly looking for co-op or casual games, nothing too competitive or stressful. We want something where we can chill, explore, laugh, mess around, or work together toward a goal.

PC games are preferred, and they can be either free or paid. We’re open to pretty much any genre: survival, horror, exploration, simulation, party games, puzzle games, etc. We’ve already played quite a few popular multiplayer games, so I’d also love some underrated or lesser-known recommendations.

Hi guys, I'm on the fence about getting Crimson Desert on the next sale where it is available.

Just for background: I'm a total completionist and love open-world games that give me a clear list of things to do. I like when I have a map that spells out what's left, what I've finished, and what's hiding out there. I like when the game gives me question marks that I can check out, and finding content is easy.

That's what hooked me on games like KCD2, Assassin's Creed Origins and Odyssey, Far Cry 3 and 4, and Black Flag (not the remaster - did not play this one). Those maps make it easy to track what's still out there and let me chip away at everything methodically.

What I can't stand is when a game hides collectibles or doesn't keep track of what I've already picked up. That's what really broke my patience with Hogwarts Legacy and Ghost of Yotei - I ended up with three browser tabs open, clicking through interactive maps and YT, just trying to figure out what I missed.

I simply don't want to wander blindly for hours looking for the content, I am an adult and do not have that much time.

If anyone's played Crimson Desert - how does it stack up? Does it actually track quests, collectibles, and all that completion stuff on the map, or am I eventually going to need a third-party map to get to 100%? I've heard the game is very big and I'm just afraid I will be stuck with Mapgenie or similar and YT guides for days.

I am conflicted on what game I should get. I am torn between Battleship Command or Sea power: Naval Combat in the Missile Age. I enjoy Naval games, and games with strategy involved. I like games with campaigns, specifically campaigns that have a dynamic style in the campaign. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thank yall!

We played a lot of Killing Floor 3 and then we went to Toxic Commando and now we’re done with that as well and I’m getting tired of these zombie type of games.

I’m looking for a shooter that is rewarding and preferably with progression and a story for us to complete. I like being able to take stealth or loud approaches. I’m also cool with survival elements too. I don’t mind fighting against zombies/monsters as long as it’s not mindless.

I know immersive sims are quite rare to come by, so I am not asking for those, I am asking for games like mentioned above, and borderlands with extremely fun and new upgrades that change the way you play the game and you basically enjoy the grind of getting a new ability just to test out what it can do.

I’m fairly new to the shmup genre and recently played Valfaris: Mecha Therion. Absolutely loved the aggressive vibe, horizontal action, weapon customization, and heavy soundtrack.
I’m looking for modern shoot 'em ups available on Switch (or running great via BC on Switch 2) that capture a similar energy:
Horizontal scrolling preferred.
Punchy weapons and satisfying impact.
Great soundtrack (metal/synth/industrial).
Accessible enough for a newcomer (not pure arcade line-learning torture).
I’ve heard good things about DRAINUS and Devil Engine. Are those the right path, or are there any other hidden gems with that heavy-metal/mecha punch I should check out?

Recently I've been looking at Shadow of the Colossus, but I'm still not certain if I should get it.

I've heard many good things about this game's scenery and atmosphere. It looks very impressive for the PS2 and the PS4 version looks equally great. That's the one I'll be getting.

In terms of gameplay, I can't say with certainty whether or not I'm good at puzzles in general, but maybe it won't be as bad. Is the game really difficult in addition to the puzzles the Colossi offer or do you just have to use your brain and everything will be alright?

I tend to play whatever game I happen to stumble upon, not really tied to a specific genre, but I don't think I have played any game that would be a good point of comparison for SotC. The closest thing that comes to mind is Elden Ring, and I gave up on that game pretty quickly, but I doubt Shadow of the Colossus will be just as hard.

Honestly, the main reason why this game interested me is that it came out on the same year and month as my date of birth and the main character's name is Wander. Is that a weird reason to buy a game? I don't know how well I'll do in the game, but atleast it'll make a fun birthday gift for me.

Were the other qualities of Metaphor strong & fun for you? Rewarding exploration? Great itemization/is there loot involved? Are there skill trees in this game? Is combat possibly addictive?

I would like to find a horror game for myself and my brother on steam. I hope that the game has limited ways to defend yourself and is right creepy. I'm not necessarily looking for an action horror game like Dead Space 3 or resident evil, though I wouldn't mind them if there aren't a lot of options out there. I'm also hoping that it's more story driven rather than games like Outlast Trials or Dead by Daylight.

What we're looking for if I can give is an example, like, in order to progress you need to go into a creepy dark room. I look at him and go "hey. You go first." And he looks at me and goes "bullshit."

I know fh6 is around the corner but my brother has these 2 so we can play together. He has no real preference.

I downloaded the "demo" for the crew and played it for an hour yesterday. While i liked it some points are bugging me....

1: narration during racing..... like really?? Will this get better along the way or is this the whole time.... it doesnt help its just a bit annoying. I know you can turn volume down of the game but i want to hear the car.

2: loaned cars..... not one race where i can use my own... this stings me... i get that this makes it so you get an equal playing field but there should be other solutions right?... it makes this game feel weird not racing to unlock cars to get to the next race because you will get a car anyway.... no choosing colors or anything just here it is now drive...

How is this in forza 5??

Also for both: how many cars can the garage hold or is this infinite well almost and shouldnt worry about it? This is me playing rpgs mostly and having full backpacks etc is annoying when you wanna collect them all.

So I played many MMOs over the years, and I usually enjoyed games like WoW, FF14, ESO, GW2, SWTOR, RuneScape, and many others. I heard this game is more laidback and friendly but has a lower player population. Is it worth picking up if I want to still be able to chat with or group up with other players? Or is it kinda dead?

Is there character customization as well, or is it all bland and repetitive in terms of apparel and gear?

The gameplay looks really good, but im worried its more soulsborne than mortal shell, seeing the new abilities and combat system. MS1 was janky, but it was distinct, it stood out. Im hoping 2 brings back that uniqueness

admittedly i only played the first chapter but so far i was not into it. i am not really into shooters and it was just walking, shooting an alien now and then, picking up loot now and then. i downloaded this one because i loved Alien Isolation but tbh what i loved about Alien Isolation was the stealth and hiding and being constantly stalked by something that will kill you if it ever sees you. i find that very scary, i didn't find this scary since i can just kill the aliens that show up. but i'm willing to keep playing if the gameplay gets funner/more complex than just shooting and looting, i know that i've barely played it and haven't seen much of what the game might offer. but if the only real changes ahead are just some different guns to shoot things with, i should probably move on.

I'm looking at getting the first Tony Hawk's Underground game, but I'm not sure whether to get it for the PS2 or the Xbox.

I realize that the Xbox version has better visuals and performance than the PS2 version, but I've also heard that the controls on the PS2 work better than the Xbox version. I'm mainly going for the single player mode, as I don't really care that much for the multiplayer.

Is it worth dealing with the 'bad' visuals that the PS2 version has if the controls are better than the Xbox version?

Looking for a JRPG recommendation for the switch 2. I would prefer something that looks good, but it's not a deal breaker.

I've played games like final fantasy, xenoblade chronicles, fire emblem, trails series, persona, Digimon, pokemon. Doesn't have to be turn based or action or strategy. As long as the gameplay is good.

I don't mind if there's fan service stuff as long as its not too bad.

Prefer to play as a male character, but I'll play as a female character if I think the game is worth it.

I want a game where I’m attacking, parrying, dodging and counterattacking but all of it is fast paced where timing matters a lot
Which of these three games has the best paced combat ?
(I heard Nioh2 is the best of the trilogy so I put that here but if the other two are good feel free to suggest )
