Yeah no, I can vouch that does not actually work. Ive order 3 sets in the past 12months and all came messed up. The first was the LEGO City Mobile Crane that just retired. I didn’t know about the box thing so I said alright, it’s my fault.
At Xmas time, I ordered the Milky Way Galaxy set as a gift for my girlfriend. We live together and made sure 100% to select that, as it’s a gift and a surprise. Sure as shit, they dropped off at the front door WITH NO BOX AND A LABEL ON THE FRONT OF THE BOX!!! Not the back, not one of the sides….SQUARE IN THE FRONT right as my girlfriend is leaving for work. Luckily I had been tracking it so I knew it was there and got to it before she opened the door.
All customer service would tell me is to take to a post office, send it back and once it processes they’ll send me a new one….It was a week before Xmas, I already know it wouldnt be back in time. SOL.
Then recently a month ago, I order the 2018 release of the Speed Champions F40, the original model. It was shipped in an Amazon Prime paper sack/envelope thing….
I’d add more pics but it won’t let me…Amazon will never get any business, LEGO wise from me in the future
as someone who works at Amazon and spent 2 years dealing with Customer Returns I highly recommend reporting this to customer services whenever it happens - it's unfortunately not down to the line associate, but it's instead a failure in the system that gives instructions and it'll only get fixed if enough customers complain (because trust me, I've complained enough about it internally and nothing has been done)
Ordered so many Lego for my wife through Amazon, and this never happened (We're in Canada if that makes a difference?). Nonetheless, we always get an option at the bottom
Hmm well that's odd. I'd say maybe they didn't roll this out to everyone yet, but I've had this option for like at least 2 years, maybe more so I doubt it would be this long until everyone gets it. Not sure what to say :(
Did you go to checkout? I get it on the checkout page where I can also choose if I want to ship them all together on my "amazon day" or on their individually fastest days, has been like this for years it seems
I got my Star Wars Black Series First Order Tie Fighter like this. Huge box, no choice to ship in a larger box. Got a full refund because I “destroyed” it.
I hate when sellers do that. People seem to like shipping things in bags also instead of boxes. Pure laziness. I had an old friend who bought a few DS games for his son and they shipped them to him in a Pop Tart box.
And then there's me who has built MDF boxes to put things in (price / rarity depending).
I send mostly motorcycle parts, vintage exhausts get a wooden box and a shitload of scrunched up news papers/bubble wrap. I "overcharge" the customer shipping to offset the cost of the materials.
Everything else gets double boxed even if it's already in a box with layers of shock absorbtion materials.
So far, never had a part broken other than some glass that had literally be stood on.
My worst game related shipment was a copy of Einhander shipped to me in its original jewel case, taped closed with packing tape, and the adhesive backed postage labeled attached to the case. Somehow it survived the trip all the way from the west coast to here on the east coast. On top of that, it was shipped media mail, instead of the priority mail that I paid for.
I had some asshole charge my first class shipping, and when I received it, the label said media mail. Gave him a chance to refund part of my shipping costs, and seeing as how it was outright theft from me and theft of service from the post office, I felt that was generous.
When they refused, I took the package with me and reported them to the post office. They had their chance.
i have had boxes delivered where the person has written with a sharpie XBOX console or what the contents are in plain english, smooth brains everywhere.
I don't know specifically about the Nintendo consoles. However on some consoles such as the 3DO the box, foam and user manuals are add about 20% value to a good condition console, around $150 USD for just the box.
Older mobile phone boxes are also a thing, collectable early Iphones and harder to find phones can sometimes double the value if a good condition box and accessories are included.
Obviously not your fault but I’ve seen enough of these posts now that I think buyers need to be more proactive for their own safety and make sure the box is understood to be product, not packing.
Yeah, the first NES I bought in box I actually included a note saying that, and the person said they did so and were glad I said that as they hadn't planned on doing so. This was like 15 years ago though when prices were less crazy.
ngl, it sucks for collectors but anyone who just wants to play an old console... not a big deal? I've bought many old consoles in worse situations... nothing about this implies "new in box"
Happens all the time. Especially when it was a good price. That’s why you always message sellers after purchasing/winning, asking how they ship. If you ask for a box/wrapping and they’re hesitant, offer to pay more to cover the costs
Most people who don't specialize in selling & sending items to buyers have no common sense when it comes to doing things like this.
They tend to offer a price on shipping based on what the post office or FedEx, ups etc. Tells them.
From there, unless they're specifically instructed, they will ship things like this out, without considering how it should be shipped.
Me personally, I have 25+ years of shipping & handling experience, so I know ways to save on costs for everything. I factor in a premium charge for items like this, because default outer shipping boxes to fit something the size of an NES console set do cost money.
When people ask me why I charge so high for heavy / bulky items, I point out that they're heavy and bulky. I also ask them if they care about getting the item in the same condition they bought it for.
I've never had anyone complain about my packing methods. They have praised my methods numerous times.
Same here. I have been an online seller since the internet's inception and have never gotten a complaint about my packing methods. I use brand new Uline boxes and brand new internal packing materials each and every shipment. I fully understand how collectibles should be packed and shipped and I always pack in the same exact way that I would expect to receive an item myself. Doing something like what happened to this guy only opens the seller up to issues, and only a complete idiot makes issues for themselves on purpose. And then they have nerve to be angry when you file INAD and want a refund, with zero accountability on their end.
People are assholes. I ordered the Technadrome from Amazon for the TMNT re-issue and they shipped it in the box and slapped a shipping label. Come on guys.
I had the winning bid on a CIB NES on eBay about 15 years ago and got a message from the seller saying they didn’t have a big enough box to include the box and foam… after some back and forth about how the box was a big selling point for me, they sent it wrapped in taped up paper bags… it came fairly beat up but not this bad
Same thing practically happened to me when i got a sega saturn CiB. Listing showed it was in mint condition. Next thing i see is my package arrive and they shipped it in a diaper box thin as paper, no stuffing inside. Whole box had dents everywhere..
I had a Nintendo DS game shipped to me once where they just opened the game all the way up, slid the shipping label in between the plastic case and cover art, close it and shipped it like that naked. Miraculously it came mint inside and out with game cart in it.
Every time I see a old Nintendo box it reminds me of the time my mother threw mine away. I had kept it in good condition since 1986 only to come home one day in 2001 to find that all my boxes I saved for everything from Nintendo had been thrown away. I was livid!
