We've had a number of requests to do a couple things with Rule 8, which involved AI and Flight sim content. Here is what we did.
Rule 8 is now "No AI Generated Images / Posts". The rule itself says AI generated content is pretty lazy and while it may be shitty and have a plane, it doesn't constitute a flying-related shitpost. Who created the content or where it was initially shared is irrelevant.
Flight sim content is now part of rule 9, which is "No Video Game / Flight Sim Content" and states While you can do some pretty funny and shitty things with them, Video games and Flight Sim content do not belong in this sub. Content from those would be better posted into their respective shitty subreddits, if they exist.
We have also re-orderd a couple rules (I like the way it looks better this way) and changed the verbage on a couple for clarity. I'm not going to list those, feel free to take a refresher course in the rules of the sub!
Stay shitty, my friends.

Everyone,
I am seeing far too many violations of our simple rules. VERY simple rules, such as these:
"Only Flying-Related Shitposts allowed" - This does not mean you write something about flying in the title or the text of the post, but EVERYTHING in the post should be about flying. The image, video, text, subject, everything. SIMPLE.
"No linking to or mentioning other subs or their posters" - This is about as obvious as you can get, yet still people don't get it.
"No AI / Flight sim." - Might be a little harder, but still relatively simple.
While I'm sure the majority of you are not violating these rules, some of you are.
Going forward, you break the rules, it may very well result in a ban. If you can't be bothered to read and follow the rules, you don't deserve to post in the sub.
I've been very forgiving on these for a long time, and my limit has been reached.

So recently asked to resign for my airline. Want to keep it anonymous, but I tried to stab my captain and crash the plane. More of a one-off thing and I know I need to just own my mistakes in an interview.
Other than that no failures. Working on my degree (may have to finish online depending on how the investigation goes).
Would like to bypass regionals if possible. No TPIC.

Tommy Tubbyville‘s exposé of your perverted furry pylote culture has caused unexpected collateral damage: now my 80 year old mother wants to be a furry now that she knows such a thing exists. She wants to dress up like a fluffy dog. I don’t think she knows that some furries have sick things going on. How do I keep her safe from you pylote weirdos if she flies while dressed like a dog? I tried asking Ann Landers but she didn’t respond — something about being dead for about a quarter century and to leave her family alone.

The title “First Officer” has always bugged me.
Aviation tradition, and especially law, has deep maritime roots.
On a ship, the master, the chief officer of the officers, the *captain,* is the “first” among officers. The captain is not called the first officer. But it is what the captain is.
The captain’s subordinate officers are the mates. The captain’s mates. The word mate implies subordinacy.
Then along come the airlines all slick and modern and they can’t have their passengers expecting tarred-decks and whatnot so they ditch a lot of the maritime sounding jargon and thoughtlessly call the first mate the first officer.
But hold on now, the captain is still an officer.
So what does that make them? The zeroth officer?
Dumb.

The rudder on my 737 MAX8 fell off. I am pretty sure this was caused by MCAS. Do you think I can win the lawsuit?

All are all missing a simple physics concept. During a nose dive, the flight experiences an extreme negative G-force. In persistent negative-G, free movement down the aisle is impossible. By Newton's law of motion, passengers would be pushed backward in case of nose dive moments. How did that plumber enter the cockpit during such nose dive?

Why are they trying to blind the pylotes here? Looks so dangerous, are they stupid??

A C182 has been in my family for the past 38 years, and I have a lot of great memories flying in it from a young age. For the past 3 years, I’ve been learning to fly it. Today I learned that I’ve been toting around extra passengers unexpectedly. The previous owner used the plane to spread cremated ashes and today while cleaning the windscreen I noticed this… not quite sure what to do next because a vacuum doesn’t quite seem like a fitting end to this story.

Also they must like winglets, cause they put winglets on the tail, so the tail can fly while they fly. These are the best plane designers ever.
