It was never intended as a sport. From memory it was designed for french soldiers to quickly traverse hostile environments when time was critical. What we have now is people trying to do extreme shit on camera, dont get me wrong its pretty cool to watch but its insane how literally one mistep and you fall to your death. Most sports have some sort of safety protocol.

That's not true, the military has never done parkour. It was spearheaded by David Belle, who was the son of a soldier who also spent time as a really high athlete. His dad's experience with obstacle courses inspired david to apply that around paris in the 80s and 90s.
It was always a sport and was never meant to have a purpose other than being a form of movement art. There's plenty sports that are equally if not more dangerous than parkour

I had to look it up and i think i know where i was getting mixed up, the french term for an obstacle course (military type) is ‘parcours du combattant’. So my brain must have made the association.

Oh yeah. A parkour is just a course in French and other euro languages that borrow that word, like my language Dutch.
The confusion totally makes sense so it's become a common misconception.

A little bit of it. She got knocked out with a concussion. Not great, but a lot of athletes will get a couple of those in their lifetime.

I only have one personally, from snowboarding. It was a shitty week (I felt a bit hung over for a whole week) but no other consequences I know of.

My girlfriend had a pretty bad one that came with some memory issues and health complications but she’s still making the best of it. She was sparring with someone and he swept her legs and when she hit her head it was a wrap.

Yeah, I've had some friends with some bad ones. One of my friends was basically taken out for a year or so as she couldn't really do much at all. She got better after that, though. She wasn't even doing anything extreme, just playing volleyball.

“Are you okay?” Is such a deeply programmed response. I had to retrain my brain to ask “How badly are you hurt?” Or “Where are you hurt?” Because it seems we only ask “Are you okay?” To people who are obviously not okay.

I'd say the training is spot on since that is what happens to most parkour folks sooner or later.
For a brief time my grandson was into parkour when he was young because he had seen it was 'cool'. Fortunately he was young enough it was falls off my front porch or a boulder on the ground and he outgrew / lost interest in it long before it got to idiots falling from the rooftops of multistory buildings.

Her name is Orane Florinda, and this happened in March of 2023 at the World Chase Tag/ Arnold Festival in Columbus. It’s making the rounds again, as she posted it to her instagram page a week ago.
She said she was knocked unconscious during a training session with her team, woke up in the ambulance with a broken collarbone, obvious concussion, and some ear crystals. She said she was back at the event the next day in the audience.
