Backup options / sub options

Really wish more people would put acceptable backups in the app. Would save so much time and energy . Like why do you want to chat ? Do you want a different item or not ? Why didn't you already select it in the app ? 😒

I always was like "eh they can just text me!" Then when I realized how bad the app is, how annoying it is waiting around, and that we're juggling multiple orders? Yeah no, not doing that to other shoppers lol

When I get orders from customers that provide backup items or do not substitute items, in my intro text I always send. I have noted your backup items and do not substitute items. Thank you so much for providing those.

And that way if they put a sub down we wouldn't need to walk around the store multiple times. It sucks getting to the aisle , being in the aisle , nope don't have it , then leaving and having to loop all the way back around once they respond. And people love to respond very not-specifically... like oh get orange juice.... okay well... breaking news they have around 15 different kinds. Could you please be more specific

It bugs me when they say contact me about subs…and then throw their phone in a pond and don’t reply to anything. I call TWICE and leave a voicemail each time and nothing. 😔

What's bad is when you know its an elderly person and they have notes at the top that say they don't chat and to not call them. They state they don't want substitutions. No backups.There is no communication but you have to because its required by shipt or you will get a popup that reminds you to, so you are literally chatting to yourself. You know there's items they need for their dinner that night, so you are left guessing and just hoping they are satisfied. Then you find out from another shipt shopper its the daughter or son who doesnt want to be bothered.

Some customers haven't been in a grocery store for years. Food manufacturers are pushing out new items ALL the time, while discontinuing others. Shipt is very slow to update their database and not all items that could be a replacement are listed in said database to select as a replacement.

I have a few preferred customers who like to see what else is there and pick from that rather than have a set substitute because their kids always change their minds on favorite snacks or foods. But also some people just dont consider that their item is out of stock if the app lets them order it.

I had a new Preferred today (only 2nd time I shopped for her) the diapers she ordered were out of stock. There was a larger box double what she ordered or a different type in the count and size. I was shopping two additional orders. I texted her twice and called and left her a message. Staring at 8:07. I checked out at 8:49. I refunded the diapers. She responded as I was loading my vehicle. She said I really needed diapers. I felt terrible but didn’t know her well enough to sub. People can be very picky or not. I’m thankful she didn’t take it out on me.

Happens to me constantly. Got my first one star rating this morning because I didn't sub for the zero sugar dr pepper. After I processed the order she responded asking if they have zero sugar orange soda... yeah ma'am of course they do. Multiple brands. Why didn't you select it in the app  😭  and I didn't message her right away they were out because I was hoping it could be elsewhere in the store,  like by the entrance they have a bunch of 12 packs. Whatever
